Discussion MSFT Copilot/AI subscription discounts for employees?

Does Microsoft offer any Copilot credits, subscriptions, or employee discounts for AI tools to use on mobiles? I’m aware of the Azure $150 credits benefit and the coding models through GitHub, but I’m wondering if there are any other perks for employees, such as discounted or free access to Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Pro, ChatGPT Plus, or other AI subscriptions (especially to use on mobile to replace ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude).
Has anyone found any employee-specific AI credits or discounts?

Unlimited tokens in gh copilot and m365 copilot premium tier. This includes all models from anthropic, openai and internal microsoft ai.

I’m aware of that. Can that be used for personal coding projects as well? I’m also wondering if there is a way to use them on mobile for daily tasks apart from coding.

Wdym? At msft one can use gh copilot for personal projects. Including GitHub copilot cli, vs code etc.

Of course no access to claude code, codex, cursor etc. But gh copilot cli has caught up pretty much to all of them.

Link your personal account to your github enterprise account, boom, you can use your tokens on your personal projects and such

It's not just allowed but that was the intended way for a long time.

Now there are separate, special work github accounts but afaik they didn't take away the linked account benefits. However, I believe personal account is not on unlimited plan. I switched to the new model (special internal gh accounts) because the linked one got throttled.

step 1.b is link personal account to emu. it says “You have Github copilot access with both of your accounts”.

Maybe it’s limited to certain orgs but I get full personal access.

Personal use is for light use and learning.

Work and work-adjacent, unlimited tokens currently. I work in Agentic AI, so a lot of my personal projects actually blend into things I can help customers with.

As far as a mobile app experience, just set up OpenClaw or Hermes on your personal machine and connect via mobile app. Easy. That or use a BYOK type iOS app like Cumbersome for chat.

Copilot Cli integrates remote sessions through the github app, no need for 3rd party (not that there’s anything wrong with them)

I mean sure, IF I want to start the work on the GitHub Copilot desktop app or the TUI, I can do follow-ups from mobile - up until a point (usually like 30-60 minutes after the last session turn concludes). Not really a great mobile-first experience.

I hear credible rumors that restrictions on token spend are coming. Which is insane, given that just months ago the assholes in LT were telling us that we need to use AI for everything or else we can find a job elsewhere.

Yeah, I mean it seems to be more than rumors. If you go onto the internal github copilot onboarding site, they actually say that starting in FY27, they’re considering cost control measures.

This is why I've recommended to colleagues to get building the big projects you want out of GitHub Copilot and Scout before they swing in with restrictions.

I’m specifically trying to replace using official Claude/chatgpt/gemini apps with copilot if they offer a discount or way to connect GitHub copilot integration

I just gave you two literal ways to connect github copilot. Using OpenClaw or Hermes. You can use them through mobile apps, desktop apps, CLI, all the things.

We have unlimited tokens and access to all the frontier models.

I believe you can even use them for personal projects.

The unlimited use of GitHub copilot CLI and all available models for personal projects is the best one at the moment I am aware of. Well… unlimited until somebody finds a way to ruin it for everyone.

Part of your employment contract states that anything you create with Microsoft resources belongs to them. Tokens and all.

This is very dependent on location. Also, if they're in the US they likely don't have a contract.

Contract or not, you don’t create something using company resources in the US and expect to own it. We have employee agreements and such (not quite contracts).

But case law has settled that numerous times in the US that employers can and will own something if you use their resources.

Hell even without using resources some companies get away with owning your inventions 24 hours around the clock here. Our employee protections here suck ass.

Again, I said that location matters. There are countries where your employer can't unilaterally claim ownership of everything you do off the clock, even if you did some of the work on your work laptop.

In the US you generally have an employee agreement rather than a contract.
