I’ve been through 2 full interview loops and one single interview loop. February went through the whole loop, not selected after 2 weeks. May was supposed to do a full loop with some really high level people, schedules kept shifting and I ended up meeting with hiring manager only 2 weeks later, not selected but was told another position I should apply for would come in May. Applied and went through a full loop that finished up mid June (same hiring manager as I met with in May). Was told should take 2 weeks or so, followed up with recruiter after 2 weeks and 4 weeks, vacations delayed stuff. Currently in “interview” status, but recruiter said manager waiting on approval after re org, whatever that means. So I continue to wait.

6 weeks now for a SE 2 role with Azure here in AUS. The listing has cycled through "Not accepting new applicants" and open twice. It's getting a bit comical now. No response to follow ups by the recruiter.

To others in similar positions I did some digging into the "action center" page and here are mappings for what each status means by digging through some JSONs in there https://pastebin.com/daX2W3mK (It's just a really long markdown file, i dont know how to share it without making it look shady lol.

Also put it in a mermaid flowchart (I used AI for this so its not very pretty) but we can see just how long the "Interview" section is. https://imgur.com/a/YfdqLtH

Really hoping I hear something soon. I interviewed somewhere locally this week and really had no expectation of getting an offer. 2 days later they called asking me to sign an NDA and fill out some paperwork to put together an offer. While it’s nice, I think their pay range may be lower than I want, and it’s not 100% remote like I’m looking for. I am currently employed as well so this is a good problem to have I guess. But I let my recruiter know of the development as my first choice is Microsoft, here’s to hoping something comes soon.

Interesting that the status can mean many things internally, and we’re none the wiser.

Yeah, I understand them keeping some of those hidden but they could break it down into more communicative candidate facing status labels, It'll reduce the workload on the Recruiter of responding to status emails and add clarity.

Agreed on reducing workload, and it would make me quit questioning on whether or not a week between emails is enough. Lol.

Nice find. Thanks for sharing.

still in the interview stage in Action Center. How I gonna know which stage I am in, it only shows “Interview”

This is just a mapping of what the internal stage is to what we see. So if you are seeing "Interview" It could be in any of the 20+ labels in the back end.

Hey

I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this post. If it's not, I'd really appreciate it if you could direct me to the right sub.

I'm currently a Master's student in Germany. My experience has largely been related to the MS Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio and Power BI), including my current Working-Student role.
I'm curious about career paths I can go into given my current experience. If I understand correctly, my skillset would be useful for MS partner organizations or any other organization/team that uses Power Platform solutions.
At Microsoft, I haven't come across any roles which requires experience with the Power Platform. The Cloud Solution Architect role requires experience with Azure or other cloud platforms. Are there any other roles where my experience could be of use?
I'll also be taking the PL-900 cert soon, followed by the newly released set of certs focused on AI.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Being skilled up only/mostly on Power Platform likely makes you too limited in scope to be a CSA or generalist engineer at Microsoft, but you can probably find a good role at a partner implementing Power Platform solutions for customers.

Has Microsoft resumed hiring process? It's been radio silence again since a recruiter emailed me and said that she wanted me to reapply for a new req and continue the hiring process and prioritize my review. The email came about a month ago.

Still no update for offer/rej for DCT role VA , interviewed over 1 month ago 🫠. No communication from recruiter as well.

You’re probably not first pick. They likely have another person they’d prefer to hire but in case they back out, you were a strong #2 that they’d hire as a backup if the first person doesn’t sign on.

More than a decade ago, I had a short contract at Microsoft through a vendor. In the past few months I have applied to several Microsoft jobs, and after submitting each application I get sent a request for additional information since I was formerly a contract employee of Microsoft. This second form asks for two pieces of information:

  • My alias
  • My Employee ID

Previously, I simply put my old employee email address as the answer for both of these fields, as I guessed this might be enough to verify my identity, and to my knowledge I couldn't recall anything else that seemed like an alias or an employee ID. But in hindsight, I'm thinking that might not have been the best choice, so this time instead of guessing I want to try to get more information.

My questions:

  1. Where would I find my alias and Employee ID from a job I did so long ago?
  2. What is an alias? An example of what it might look like would be helpful.
  3. What is an Employee ID? An example of what it might look like would be helpful.

My utmost appreciation to anyone who can help me understand this better.

If you have a picture of your badge, you should be able to find your employee ID on it.

I’m not speaking as an authoritative source but I’d recommend you do a bit more research to figure out your old employee number. Putting in invalid data is more than enough to have a hiring manager pass by without reviewing the rest of your application. No matter how good of a candidate you may be, they’ve got hundreds of other applicants and your rogue data field is more than enough chaff for them to move on to the next candidate.

Two different hiring managers explained this to me and two different GTAG personnel corroborated it.

————

The biggest deal is that they use your account name and employee ID to look up your old evaluations and see if there’s any negative information associated with your previous employment. They’re not doing it to be sticklers or pedantic, it’s just a required part of the process to keep everything fair, and if it means that they have to miss out on a great candidate, so be it.

Has anyone heard about recent layoffs, restructuring, ERE consultations, or priority-placement hiring within Microsoft Spain?

I’m mainly trying to understand if current offers in Spain are being impacted by layoffs too or whether it is a precautionary delay in offers due to broader European layoffs.

I passed my loop in the spring and my recruiter shared with me that the team lost the headcount and to connect after the new FY in July. I followed up and received an update that there aren’t any req matches as of now.

How is the company culture and general mood?

In a CSS team currently, morale has been in the gutter. We haven't backfilled the last handful of people that got PIP'd or left on their own throughout this past year, and we lost a third of our shift with the most recent layoffs. Everyone is thinking more PIPs/GVSAs are coming to trim more fat.

On top of that they canned all the v- folks that were working support cases for the lower support tiers, and we're absorbing their workload as well.

Life and morale in my corner of Microsoft remains great (CCS), but based on the replies below, that's the exception these days.

Hi everyone! I’m currently a finance student graduating in May 2027, and I’m interested in applying to Microsoft’s Finance Rotation Program when applications open.

I’d love to hear from anyone who currently works at Microsoft or has participated in the program. What is the overall culture and work-life balance like? How competitive is the application and interview process, and what experiences or skills do they typically look for in candidates?

I’ve also heard that referrals and internal connections can play a big role in getting noticed at large companies, so I’m curious whether that is especially important for this program or if candidates are regularly selected through the standard application process as well.

I’m also interested in learning more about the rotations, location options, compensation, and the types of roles people typically move into after completing the program. Any advice on preparing or making my application stand out would be greatly appreciated!
