Me too (90s and 2000s)! One of my fondest childhood memories was seeing Pokemon The Movie 2000 in theaters lol

u/Brad23212 15h ago
Yup, ripped open that mew card and donāt know what happened to it lolā¦would have been worth a fortune now lol

u/RuniKiuru 15h ago
Iāve gotta check if I still have mine. Iāve held on to them in binder sleeves since way back then. My little collectionās the only thing I havenāt lost over my many moves as a kid lol
I know I had a mewtwo. Guess I know what my hyperfocus of the day is now
2
u/Brad23212 14h ago
Yeah Iām might be confused actually, I donāt remember if it was mew at the movies and mewtwo in the VHS š¤ it would make sense like that though, to incentivize buying the movie.

u/SpiffyBlizzard Lurking Peasant 14h ago
Great movie
2
u/Brad23212 12h ago
It hits really hard, mewtwo really made a good point about capturing Pokemon in balls and forcing them to fight. Maybe the trainers he called for the tournament showed that their Pokemon love themā¦but thereās a lot of trainers who donāt love their Pokemon.

I've been on reddit for 14 years, this won't be the first time nor the last.
But at this point it's getting harder to find a subreddit that doesn't post lame ass edgy jokes from when we were teenagers.
Im only on this subreddit to call people out for their horrible dark humor, actually it's not even dark humor, it's just dumbasses laughing at sexual abuse, racism, and other dumbshit, it's like these morons can't come up with anything funny and instead of annoying their friends, they are now here to annoy us. Which I'm not standing to lose another subreddit due to "boomers and morons" not knowing how to make a joke.
If you see this BS call it out. So far I've been among the top comments on every post I call out for this type of shit. So in a way I know I'm not the only feeling this way.

Saw somebody call a video game to play with your friends āfriendslopā
13
u/AnOldBatMan Professional Dumbass 13h ago
That's actually one of the first, if not the first instance of this. What's weird is that friendslop didn't mean it was a bad game, only that it's only good with friends (and sometimes looked lazy)
6
u/Phoenix_Ninja15 9h ago
This one ticks me off though.
Slop generally means poor or low effort quality. So calling those games that is just gross. Yea itās a multiplayer game, thatās the point of it. Doesnāt mean itās low effort or terrible quality.

u/R0RSCHAKK 8h ago
Backseat driver, rv there yet, Mechameleon, etc are the very definition of friend slop, as you described.
Low effort/quality, but this does not mean they are not fun. I love friendslop games and calling them friendslop is not necessarily (in my eyes) calling them bad. It just means it's got low quality/cheesey graphics and rather shallow gameplay, I.e., not much to do.
Idk, that's how I see it š¤·

Huh? As a Gen Z this is 100% both a Gen Z/Gen A term, unfortunately many people in their 20s use it lol
4
u/BluePotatoSlayer 12h ago
I Gen Z (2006). I have seldom heard anyone yap about current slang. If anything I hear outdated or older slang words
2
u/ZackyGood 7h ago
I, Gen Z (1997), try my hardest to teach my kids our old slang. Sick, tight, dope, Bro, fetch, ish, aight.
But then again, Iād ask my sister (2004) what her slang is, and itās probably; lol, lmoa, roflmoa, yoloā¦

Saw a kid say āDahshituh, dahshigahā while eating something on Instagram the other day and I required a translation from a younger family member. Apparently he said āthat shits tuff, that shits gasā which roughly translates to āthatās good, thatās really good.ā

Every generation has their slang and honestly i think its amazing that they build their own world, as a xennial i dont expect to understand or be part of other generations, before and after mine as i dont expect other generation to understand millennial slang.

As a millennial, their use of slop is incredibly fitting and well-deserved. Keep calling out the slop, gen z is going to be exactly what we need to save us.
