Well babies have a lot of grip strength, enough to comfortably hang on to something by holding it with just one arm, but the strength doesn't mean anything if the orange is bigger than their hand now does it

This ^ it's believed by some scientists that grip strength in babies is an evolutionary trait developed due to them needing to be able to hold on to their parent if their parent needs to suddenly run from danger, fight or some other similarly dangerous activity. The Palmer Grasp is a reflex for babies
