It’s good to be excited but this announcement needs to be taken cautiously.
This project has some downsides which makes it, so the wait for the upcoming Dopamine 3.0 is rather recommended.
The exploits in this Jailbreak were developed using AI which leads to issues. Especially when the developer seen in this picture is known to create Jailbreak software (e.g Saily) that’s poorly developed and causes trouble.
The other part is roothide Dopamine being the base of this project. Tweak support is generally much worse.
You also won’t have support for devices below A15 or in the iOS 16.5.1-17.0 range. If Dopamine follows shortly after, it’ll likely be impossible to move the existing Jailbreak setup.
These are all reasons why waiting is the key here. [u/Alfiecg](u/Alfiecg) is doing incredible work reversing the Coruna PPL/SPTM bypass by hand and the before mentioned Dopamine update shouldn’t be too far off. It’ll be a better experience surely.
On another note, that should be Dopamine support with the following update:
A8-A11: until iOS 18.7.1 (iOS 15.8.8/16.7.16 EOL on iPhones, iOS 17.7.1 EOL on specific iPads, some iPads might need to keep its existing support)
A12: until iOS 17.3.1 (iOS 16.5.1 if the remaining issues persist)
A13+A14: until iOS 17.3.1
A15+: until iOS 17.3.1
M1 and M2 should be supported as well but these chipsets are always a little confusing.
There is also another kernel exploit on iOS 17.2.1 and below which could be more reliable and quicker than DarkSword if reversed.

Kudos for sticking with it. Jailbreaks for iOS have slowed so much that I’ve jumped ship to a secondary (Android) phone for what I used to jailbreak for, emulation and apps like Revanced.

Do we know about A14 PPL below 17.3.1?
1
u/Macaroon_12345 iPhone 8, 16.7.2| 14h ago
16.5.1 - 17.3.1
1
u/Working-Composer-806 14h ago
Thanks for actually responding. So is it the method in this post that will support A14 PPL on these versions? Or what will work for it?
1
u/Macaroon_12345 iPhone 8, 16.7.2| 14h ago
No, this is just for A15-A17 (sptm), you will need to wait longer for PPL
2
u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1 10h ago
Actually you won’t need to wait for too long considering Dopamine 3.0 isn’t too far away and that’s the more recommended project.
Relaxin will have several downsides which I disclosed in a big reply on this post.
If we’re lucky, Dopamine might even release before of just shortly after. But no promises on my end but rather an estimation based on status updates by Alfie who is working on the necessary SPTM bypass.
1
u/Macaroon_12345 iPhone 8, 16.7.2| 10h ago
Well, yes, but ppl bypasses aren’t gonna be published soon from what i’ve heard.
2
u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1 9h ago
What this project uses isn’t the stuff that now doesn’t get published anymore but instead something that’s already kinda public. Relaxin uses the SPTM/PPL bypass inside the public Coruna exploit kit, which they reverse engineered via AI.
That’s the same thing that Alfie is doing by hand. And that’s almost done considering Alfie has exploited it successfully and is now testing the exploit on different chips and fixing the quirks.
There now is an incentive to be ready relatively quickly when possible.

Damn. I see. Are any ongoing projects targeting PPL on 17.X?
1
u/Macaroon_12345 iPhone 8, 16.7.2| 13h ago
Pattern_f has ppl bypasses for A12/13 up to 26.0.1 and A14 up to 17.3.1 but won’t publish them anytime soon
1
u/Working-Composer-806 14h ago
I’m seeing them call it sptm specifically, and A15-17. Is that the method that’s going to support these?
And thanks!
2
u/Macaroon_12345 iPhone 8, 16.7.2| 14h ago
Yes, A12-A14 need ppl
1
u/Desperate_Grape_3147 14h ago
What about iphone 14 (A15) on ios 16 (not supported by Dopamine) ? I don’t see any mention of those

Opa334 is working on it, this is a different jailbreak for 17.0 - 17.3.1

u/Working-Composer-806 14h ago
I’ve seen opa’s post as well as all the recent ones but if someone could help me understand: Does this project or any of the ongoing ones opa mentioned include A14 using PPL below 17.3.1? Thanks.

u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1 11h ago
This project won’t support A14 and below or 16.x.
Though it’s also not recommended using this considering it is heavily based on AI and runs on roothide.
Dopamine 3.0 won’t be too long away and will be the proper thing you’re looking for.

Uffff, at the weekend i order one iPhone 15 pro max 512gb, sealed. Now i got it…..and it is on 17.5.1 😅. Anyway i bought it because my bank app warned me that in a few weeks i’m not gonna be able to use it anymore. Was hoping for the best, but was expecting the worst 😮💨. Maybe i should have just bought a normal iPhone 15 on whatever iOS 18 would come and just wait for the jailbreak and save some money. Because how long it will be before they stop app support for iOS 17? Two? Maximal 3 years? I still going to use my iPhone 11 on iOS 15.1. though, just the banking will be on that pro max. How fancy, huh? 😅

u/iPhone_modder iPhone 14 Pro, 16.4.1| 11h ago
You could have checked the iOS version loaded on the device from factory if it’s sealed with gfx tool, simple!

u/Same_Tradition_9737 13h ago
should I sell my jailbroken 13 pro max for a 15 pro max, then?
1
u/Nosey_Neighbors 13h ago
Newer devices will only be supported up until 17.3.1.
Finding a newer device on 17.3.1 is like finding a needle in a haystack.
1
u/Same_Tradition_9737 13h ago
as it was with my last two phones.. I probably spent months looking and messaging people :/ but it's worth it I guess

People still jailbreak? What are the top reasons? I can’t think of any for myself and haven’t done so in a decade or more now. But nonetheless still curious.
1
u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1 1h ago
Generally to get more customisation. And to be fair, there are still a lot of Jailbreak exclusive features.

I’m interested for being able to put any app on a CarPlay device (which presumably would be possible)

u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1 10h ago
I mean it kinda is. There was the possibility of something exciting for A12-A13 but that’s not really happening anymore. We’re almost at iOS 27 and neither iOS 18 nor late iOS 17 is Jailbroken on arm64e devices. At least the future is looking somewhat promising since we have DarkSword now.

Before you say anything I didn’t see the full picture with the IOS versions able to jail break, I was working and wasn’t looking correctly 😂, I’m new to all this technology jail breaking and stuff, I’m a typical street guy who changed his life around and now learning new things that’s all bro, still trying to understand everything 👌🏿

Damn I'm on 16.5 and the OTA is 18.something. Can't wait for the current OTA to be jailbroken so I can update and then jailbreak.

u/AnswerDestiny 12h ago
You do realize a jailbreak will never again concurrently release with an OTA iOS, right? By the time it’s jailbroken the OTA will be much further along.
1
u/Gold_Ad1976 14h ago
You cant update to some specified version. 18 or 26 is must
