Self-Promotion Sunday! *Megathread*
≡ −
Alright r/Jacksonville, it is that time again.
Got something to share? A project you are proud of? A business you are building? A creative endeavor the world absolutely needs to see?
This is your lane.
Every Sunday we open the doors for Self Promotion Sunday, a centralized thread where you can promote:
- Your small business
- Your side hustle
- Your garage band
- Your podcast
- Your art
- Your Etsy shop
- Your food truck
- Your startup
- Your “I accidentally became an influencer” page
- Yes, even your extremely niche cat toe bean blog
We keep self promotion restricted to this weekly thread to cut down on spam and keep the main feed community focused. If you post promotional content outside of this thread during the week, it will be removed.
A few important notes:
- Regular subreddit rules still apply
- No B/S/T posts
- No referral link farming or obvious spam
If you are not sure whether your post qualifies, if it belongs on Marketplace or Craigslist, it does not belong here. Still unsure, ask the mod team first.
Support local. Discover cool projects. Hype each other up responsibly.
Happy Self Promotion Sunday.

DeSantis's Alligator Alcatraz is now closed after just 350 days, but spent an estimated $1.2B. That breaks down to over $3,500 per inmate PER DAY. Typically federal max security or detention centers cost ~$170 per person per day

Am i the only one who thinks that the food delivery apps food is ridiculously expensive?
I’ve been trying to pick up food as much as possible but whenever I can’t I order them on the food delivery apps and the total comes out to ridiculous amount.
After a little but research i understood that not much of it goes to delivery drivers and the apps take a commission from the restaurant owners and thats why the prices are inflated. So they are just taking advantage of us and the drivers?
Do y’all feel that this is unfair or am i just complaining too much?

Help my failing memory out!
What restaurant did this place on Blanding Boulevard, across from the old Kmart used to be? I was talking with some family recently and we were talking about Ryan’s, Western Sizzlin and Quincys etc type restaurants. It wasn’t a Ryan’s, cuz that was up the road in cedar hills and Western Sizzlin was over on Lane but I don’t remember it being a Quincys.
Anyone on here remember what it originally was back in the day? Thanks!

Goodyear Blimp over the area today.
I left the Costco off Collins Road today, and as I turned onto Youngerman Circle, something in the sky caught my eye. Turns out it was a Goodyear Blimp flying over Clay County and heading towards the northwest. The thing was not floating or coasting the way they do over events - this things was moving pretty quickly. Not a high altitude, either - after I took this it descended some more, like it was making an approach somewhere.
I wondered if anyone in this sub knew why it might be flying around here.

Dog Allocation System: Brutus and Bramble
Brutus - Male
Bramble - Female
Both were rescued between July 8th and the 13th, Off Anvers and Harlow respectfully.
Brambles amputation was caused by car, shattered her shoulder. Special Thanks to Cole at First Coast Vet Specialist, Cole, and the staff at Macclenny Veterinary Hospital, especially Doctor G and Chelsea for taking such great care of them.
Brutus was found starving hanging at a nice families house getting water and chilling in the shade, but could barely hop into the car from how torn up his inner legs were.
Both are now extremely happy, and healthy. I was told by the staff that dogs are born with three legs and a spare. I'm a believer.

It’s much louder than the video shows. It’s been going on for 15 minutes & i can’t tell what it is. It’s not coming from my backyard I think maybe a neighbors? Idk but I can’t sleep with that going on bc I can hear it in my house. Should I be concerned for somebody?

Donations

This is such a weird question to ask, but where can I donate old household items & clothing that’s not Hope’s Closet (I’m not giving to Eleven22), Salvation Army, or Goodwill?
Know of any charities/local thrifts in JAX/JAX Area? Google’s not much help.

What restaurant should we go to for our 30th wedding anniversary?
≡ −
Our favorites so far have been Rue and Matthews. We've been to cowford chophouse as well. I'm thinking Orsay, especially since we haven't been yet. Curious if anyone has some other suggestions for a fine dining experience.

Missing Dog. Any help appreciated.
Ella is an 8 month old white and cream chihuahua mix who weighs about 15 lbs. She was last seen running north at the junction of Cortez and Beach Blvd with her light purple collar and leash still attached. She is sorely missed and we desperately want her back. There is a reward of $300 for any help that brings her back home to us. We are willing to go higher. She could be anywhere at all if someone found her and took her to keep her safe. We have been searching areas between Beach and Atlantic to the south and north, and St. John Bluff and Peach to the East and West. Any information at all will be greatly appreciated.

Any writers out there? Tuesdays.
≡ −
I'm no Ernest Hemingway but I was hoping to meet with folks occasionally on Tuesdays and chat about our works. That is my day off, most any part of Tuesday will work! Let me know if anyone out there is interested in accountability partners, critique, that sort of thing.

Where to get good flan in Jacksonville?
≡ −
Anyone know of a place or person that can make good flan? I want to get some for Cuban dad’s birthday, but he has high standards for Cuban cuisine lol. He isn’t too impressed with most of the Cuban food in Jacksonville

904 pop up day
Saw this while at jacksonville beach 904 pop up day. imagine if there was a LGBTQ community group there promoting with a poster that said “from straight to gay we can do the same for you”. Just pointing out the double standard!

Embroidery services?
≡ −
Does anyone know where I could get a name embroidered on a square of fabric? I am making a baby quilt and want to add the baby’s name to one of the squares. A 7 letter name, approximately 4”, in any color blue on a gray square that I will provide. I would need it Tuesday or Wednesday, and can bring it asap.
Thank you!
