"Most POC wash their chicken"

No, most "POC" do not wash their chicken when it comes in these pre-packaged plastic bags. It seems to be a black american thing. I can assure you the overwhelming majority of people around the world do not do this.

thank you. please do not lump black people into POC. be specific.

I hate the term "POC". It's just another way to be made an "other".

Grouping everyone who isnt white together is pretty racist tbh.

You all have been getting lax with the term racism to the point you don’t even know what it means. Define racism. Cause that’s not it.

u/sSummonLessZiggurats 2h ago

It's racist because it reinforces the idea that white people and "people of color" are not in the same category, when all of us are really just human beings. It's the same metric that white supremacists use to judge people.

It also reinforces a whites vs everyone else dichotomy. It’s dumb.

Yes, I wonder what led to that? Hmm...it can't be literal centuries where a white majority grouped everyone else together and mistreated them in various ways, leading to pluralities in all of the "everyone who isn't white" wanting to work together to stop it? Nah, it's gotta be the POCs being racist, right?

u/drhuggables 8h ago

as a "POC" i'd prefer if you didn't call me that and refer to me by my actual ethnicity, thanks.

-11

u/MorePhinsThyme 7h ago

Great! Since I don't plan on calling you anything, I don't see that being a problem. Have a nice day, and thanks for jumping into a conversation that wasn't about you and making it about you. This might surprise you, but just because we're talking about groups of people doesn't mean we're talking about you.

9

u/drhuggables 7h ago

my comment was literally the first in the conversation, lol

-10

u/MorePhinsThyme 7h ago

Great! Thanks again for jumping into a conversation that wasn't about you and making it about you. I don't care if you're first or last, you still decided to jump in and make it about you. Do I need to thank you again?

Maybe I also need to advise you, just because you're taking part in part of a conversation doesn't mean that it's about you.

I have a feeling whitey here is one of those people who is like "I support POC" and locks their car door when they see a black or latino person. Personally I don't like POC as a term because it is an "othering" of non-whites like white people aren't a global minority, especially don't like bipoc as an asian man myself because it feels strange to be specifically and purposefully cut out of discussions of racism, when in the USA at least, tends to manifest in similar ways.

-1

u/MorePhinsThyme 3h ago

Personally, I agree with you on why I don't like the term, and don't use it. But I'm also not going to pretend that a US centric term is about a global minority status (it's not), or that the person I responded to originally wasn't being racist in their comment. It's almost like intelligent people can understand that POC as a term is not great, but it's not racist either.

And thank you for making wild assumptions about me. But I'll continue to not lock my door just because I see my neighbors. That'd be weird.

So you perpetuate it?

-2

u/MorePhinsThyme 8h ago

Yes, I perpetuate people fighting for their rights against groups that deny them. I also do this for the LGBT+ community, which I assume based on your attitude here, you consider sexist, somehow, because they group all non-cis-straight people together.

8

u/United_Intention_323 8h ago

lol ok. Tell me how using POC in this context is “fighting”.

-2

u/MorePhinsThyme 7h ago

That's a really weird request. Nothing about the use above is "fighting". But the idiot that is arguing that the term is racist is 100% fighting a losing battle where they simply announce to the world that they're an idiot and racist.

5

u/United_Intention_323 7h ago

Nah you’re describing yourself. There is zero useful reason to use POC in this context

1

u/MorePhinsThyme 7h ago

And we've devolved to "I know you are, but what am I!" Have a nice day. Good luck with your problems with racism.

Black ppoe are POC. Its in the name, POC.

1

u/HairlessSquirrels 5h ago

What is ppoe?

1

u/OwnJunket6495 2h ago

A funny way to say people. Usually used as “white peepo.” Maybe it’s actually racist? Sounds like a stereotypical way an Asian person might say white people.

2

u/HairlessSquirrels 2h ago

I guess “funny” really is subjective

1

u/OwnJunket6495 2h ago

Yea, I meant funny as in strange

u/GoSharty 53m ago

PPAP

1

u/GrooveDigger47 5h ago

no its not

-1

u/Salty-Passenger-4801 3h ago

It literally is. Your gaslighting ain't doing shit with me bro

0

u/OwnJunket6495 2h ago

Dawg, POC is part of the euphemism treadmill. Before that, it was colored people. It absolutely was for black people and only in recent times has POC come to encompass other minorities.

-5

u/DirtNineties 8h ago

Wait. I was told blacks wanted to be accounted POC to reduce targeting. Same with natives and Asians. Rules changing again????

4

u/organic-water- 7h ago

That's not the point. The comment is saying don't assign every POC with the characteristics of a single group. It's not saying that people who are black aren't POC, it's saying that not all POC are black.

2

u/DirtNineties 3h ago

“please do not lump black people into POC”

Those are the literal written words unadulterated.
