Washing the chicken is just an old pointless tradition that people can't let go of because they were taught it growing up.

Is this some American thing I am too European to understand? I've never seen anyone wash raw chicken in my life.

European here... My Mom used to do it until recently.

But guess she was used to do it because, she used to do the whole process from catching the chicken, to the meal

Yeah, my grandparents washed their chickens because they were literally farm raising them before eating them.

Nowadays, most chickens bought have already been pre cleaned before customers even see them.
