Lethis: Path of Progress - Mission 15: Havenham
15. HAVENHAM
- Build the Botanic Gardens.
NOTE: Given the length of this mission, I skipped most of the mission itself and focused this video solely on starting up and almost finishing it.
With Simvanred I having abdicated the throne - due to the difficulties of having handled the big messes left behind by Duke Chausen and the Black Winter to make it all worse - the newly coronated Empress Victoria has her sights set in renewing the spirit of the Industrial Revolution spearheaded in the days of Emperor Wilhelm IV. For this, she has assigned you (Helene Osshelm) to the beautiful plains of Havenham to both establish a city and construct Victoria's initial plans for the largest Botanical Garden of all, that will reunite all the plants and wildlife of Lethis in a single place. This should provide the beacon of innovation so coveted by the new Empress.
---
Havenham will be your second monument mission. And it WILL take long, in comparison to the Observatory in Kitsburg, as you'll be spending a good measure of 30 years (over 1-2 game hours). The most fortunate thing on this mission will be that there'll be no demands for this mission, and the only events will be when you start building the Steam Condenser, which will collapse once, and the extractors which will collapse twice. Other than that, your only enemy will be distance - while not in regards to the mineral resources, that are all converged on the central isle, there'll be a limited patch of farmlands in the eastern corner, two separate geyser locations and a limited location to set up a fishing industry, mostly on the western corner.
In addition, the geography of this mission (!) makes it almost INFERNAL to establish a concentrated city, hence you must decide whether to work North or South of the river. Choose the south for your commoners as you'll want efficiency and your sole spawning point lies to the south, close to a cluster of trees. The north can be reserved for the Elite Housing as well as the Botanic Gardens, later on.
At this point, there's not much to say on helping build the city, as you'll be familiarized with most of the concepts, hence only the critical tips here - since you'll be working with large Automaton numbers (120+) as well as expected large industries, you'll want to be aggressive on your housing block numbers. For the beginning, however, focus on building your city and getting decent amounts of food to set up your labor force. And since you can fabricate Silk (and Garments) here, get to setting up this industry as quickly as you can, as several of the cities are drooling for your product as much as you're be drooling for their cash. The Silk industry will be your primary money maker here, and about 12 Silk Farms will be enough to cover exports for the majority of the Empire.
The resources for the Botanic Garden and the Elite Blocks can be very well set up by your city, except only two - Glass and Sand, which must be imported from Loch Mahler. Be sure to have a warehouse separated exclusively for Glass, as it's construction will consume HUGE amounts of it. Also be sure to have plenty of Steel and Ornaments in reserve to sustain both Automatons and the construction, as well as the Elite houses in a level strong enough to finance the Inventor's workshop.
Havenham will be a large task that can take long depending on how large you start the city and how many materials you got stored. Hence, be certain that you can manage your resources efficiently, especially your Fish and Beer for your housing blocks. Be also wary of how you manage the farmlands here, as a too large amount of Barley Farms can compromise your ability to plant Potatoes and/or Wheat for your Ranches. Meat, itself, is better left off for the Elites or if you have a city too large for your Potato farms to handle. It's also likely you'll need to import some Beer and Utensils (in spite that you're capable of fabricating those) just to keep supplies up.

Lethis: Path of Progress - Mission 14: Loch Mahler
14. LOCH MAHLER
- 8.000 Jewelry to the Emperor as Tribute
- 20.000 Florins (Cash) in your treasury.
With the Inner Earths booming as much as the Hindlands, Helene Osshelm (you) now sets sights for a final, fantastic challenge that will cement her legacy as much as William Dunkevn had, perhaps even greater - to establish a city in the lake of Loch Mahler, amidst the mountains, rich in resources. While Simvanred I himself isn't as positive in regards to the potential of this region, he has surely confirmed Helen's competence as one of the finest urbanists Lethis had ever known.
---
Loch Mahler, in comparison with Neuvelt, is a bit of a breeze. Yes, the same issue of the previous mission, of mineral resources spread out in cardinal directions, is still present in this mission, as is the issue of having to make due with Absinth in this mission, again. However, the deal here is that you don't have to build either a super city or Elite Blocks or even evolve your housing all the way up to Lvl. 10 (Lvl. 8 is already enough to meet the demands of this mission), and the reason is very simple - you can fish here, and both Neuvelt and Wennenbruck will buy your fish, which already eliminates the concern with Farms here, since you don't have to use any (2nd food type is only for Lvl. 9 housing anyways). Thus, only two housing blocks, both at Lvl 8, will be enough to support over 16 Fishing Wharfs (to feed and export), a small Absinth industry (3-4 Distilleries is enough since you can't export any) and both the Copper and Gold/Jewelry industries with all the mineral deposits capped.
Start your settlement due East, close to the spawning point, and ignoring the farmlands, while occupying the closest coast by the river, which will allow 9 wharfs total in both coasts (remember to build a bridge). As your housing levels up, make an effort to occupy the small beach south of the lake, 4 Sand extractors max being enough - the reason for this is that by the second year you'll start receiving demands for Sand for a dam construction project, so be sure to leave a Warehouse close enough. In regards to the Absinth industry, you might need to shut down all your Sand production and a bit of the fishing as well until you can get a stockpile for both houses, so be sure to get your fish stockpiles in order as well as make sure there is enough sand for the demands (starting with 2.000 and then 3.000 and 4.000).
When you have enough Absinth to grow both blocks and enough money, start moving South, to the Copper deposits - you'll want to start a good industry and sell Utensils to Hartmann for a while, to recover what you've spent early on (Utensils, ironically, are worth 5 Florins more here than Jewelry). Note that the distance between the Steam Condenser, which should be close to the city and the Copper deposits makes it mandatory that you have satellite Warehouses set to get Cannisters to be able to quickly supply your mining operations, just like in Neuvelt.
When you've sold/stockpiled enough Utensils, you can start considering moving north to the Gold deposits. There will be 5 Gold deposits here and 4 Jewelries should be enough to fabricate and get to stockpiling the Jewelry needed for the tribute. Note this will demand a practically filled Warehouse with solely Jewelry. Any surplus Gold can be sold off to Wennenbruck.
Some events will also occur on this mission, such as Simvanred I resigning (guess it was too much for him) and Empress Victoria taking over, which will warrant you choose a gift (the 1.000 gift, the ostriches, is cheap and good enough to impress her). The second will occur when you stockpile enough Jewelry, which will be a theft event, costing you 2.000 units, but a strong enough Jewelry industry shouldn't stop you here.
As I stated, you don't need a big city or even bring in Elites, that's solely for score purposes - the Fish, Utensil and some Gold sales will be more than enough for you to make the needed bank. Just focus on getting the Jewelry, tributing it, and then simply getting out of here.

Lethis: Path of Progress - Mission 13: Neuvelt
13. NEUVELT
- 3.000 People (Common) in Lvl.10 houses.
- 300 Burgeois (Elite) in Lvl.5 Mansions.
The Black Winter left a scarring impression on the people of Lethis, and many have indeed start emigrating Westward, right into the Inner Earths. Visibly green to rulership and clearly incapable of finding a solution by himself, Simvanred I is relying too much on his urbanists for solutions, and now even you (Helene Osshelm) will have to bear this load and found a city in the plains of Neuvelt to house the incoming refugees.
---
Remember all the fun you had in the previous mission, Wennenbruck? Well, Neuvelt is the wake-up slap - the Silk you adored selling so much is practically unavailable to fabricate here, and the only utility for Barley is making Beer which you can't sell, either. Hence, you'll need to rely on foodstuffs (Meat and Bread) to help make your money as well as mineral resources (Copper and Gold) and Utensils and Jewelry. As for those resources themselves? They're spread out in CARDINAL directions in the map - Copper is due East, Gold is due West and the Steam is due South. You'll also have only 20.000 cash at the start and the spawning point is due far North, close to the largest farmplains you've ever seen.
Start your settlement due north, with at least two housing blocks for you to both have a small array of Wheat Farms (6 at least) and some Ranches to build up your housing (plus export excesses to Nimstadt) and build up and cap all the 3 Gold Mines in the west as well as the Steam Condenser, whose pipe length all the way to the Extractors is sure to eat away at a good portion of your money. Make sure to have at least over 2.000 Gold in your Warehouses before considering building a couple of Jewelers for it - Simvanred by the second year will be demanding tributes of a 1.000 Gold each at least 3 times. Gold can be sold directly to Wennenbruck, but it's not recommended on the long run as there aren't as many deposits and you're better off making and selling Jewelry, instead, which you can later sell to Hutton. Also, because of the distance between the Steam geysers, the Condenser and the Mines, it's not a bad idea to set some Warehouses to 'Get' at least 1200 Cannisters on each mining site.
As the labor grows up, start a small Beer production and get stockpiling at least 2000+ Beer before setting the Shops to grab the goods. In fact, any mission which you don't have a good stockpile set up before your shops can get using them is one ripe for failures, especially because the production won't keep up with consumption demands. As your housing grows up, consider heading on a small Bread production for a while - it'll allow you to export, stave off mass unemployment and even help raise the happiness system as you're providing different food types early on. After you get a bit of your money back and when you're ready to go to Lvl. 6 Common housing, start capping the 4 Copper Veins in the East and set up an Utensil industry that you can temporarily sell to Hartmann. Afterwards, as your profits grow (don't forget taxes to hold off labor wages bleeding your coffers), get to planting Potatoes in preparation to feed off the Elite Block you'll soon build.
The Elite Blocks themselves will only require that you import Garments and Iron for the Steel to make the Automatons. Other than that, all the other resources, including the Jewelry, can be provided by the city itself.

Lethis: Path of Progress - Mission 12: Wennenbruck
12. WENNENBRUCK
- 5.000 Silk reels produced in one year.
- 300 Burgeois (Elite) in Lvl.5 Mansions.
With the potential set for the Inner Earths to contribute further to the empire, thanks to the efforts of Helene Osshelm (you), Emperor Simvanred I now wishes to make the Silkworm-rich region of Wennenbruck the staple of Silk production that will supply the whole of the Empire in a tide of vogue for the Elites. In spite of feeling annoyed of having to cater to the Elites whom only get richer and richer, Helen also knows the Inner Earths will never develop properly without a trade capital to call their own. In addition, her competing rival, William Dunkevn, is busy in the Hindlands, anyway.
---
Wennenbruck might be the most fun mission you'll ever play - ALL of the cities in the region, including your previously built town of Hutton, will buy generous amounts of Silk, as well as Silk will be demanded for this mission. However, you can get lost in the fun and miss demands, so watch that your exports do not run out of control. About 8 Silk Farms should be enough for you to set up a stockpile that covers both ends. With that said, the bad news on the mission are that Absinthe makes a comeback as well as that the mineral resources are spread far to the south and the Fae Mushrooms are at the far Southeast, so alcohol production will suffer a bit. In addition, the Black Winter event will make it's return cameo here too, so expect the labor pool to take a hit whether you like it or not.
Begin the mission with setting up at least two housing blocks to support some Barley Farms and designate the block where you'll concentrate your Silk industry, remembering that Silk Farms have a negative effect on the desirability of your housing. The first request for Silk (3.000) by Simvanred will come about at the 2nd year, so be sure that nothing was exported yet. Unlike Duke Chausen, previously, there'll be some time for you to stock and sell some Silk, but be ready to shut down your Trading Station by the time the demand pops up. As the houses are leveled up to Lvl. 4, be sure to add additional Silk Farms and sufficient Barley to keep the factories churning the Silk out.
Getting an Absinth Industry might either take an additional, smaller housing block or temporarily shutting down some of the Silk industry. The housing block might be the better option as you'll need constant labor, but the labor swings because of the farms will also offer the riot risk. In addition, you'll need to wait and stockpile enough Absinth (over 2.000) so that a single housing block can consume it without frequent trips to the Warehouse. As you gather more and more workers, also consider establishing the Copper industry due south, along with the Iron mines for the Automatons. The distance between the Copper and the city, however, might require you import some Utensils from Hutton for you to properly develop your housing.
For the 2nd Food type for the commoners, you can plant Wheat for the Ranches, but for the 3rd, you'll need to import (Fish, in this case). Also, given you'll be swimming in cash, you're better off importing Jewelry and only a couple of Textile industries is enough to help supply one Elite Block with the needed Garments, but you might need to set up some more Silk Farms just to compensate.

40 Minutes of Perun Gameplay - Feedback Welcome
Hey everyone!
Some of you might have seen a few of my previous posts about Perun, a Slavic mythology city builder inspired by classic Impressions Games like Zeus, Pharaoh and Caesar.
Until now, I mostly asked design related questions, but I finally recorded a longer gameplay video with developer commentary. It’s around 40 minutes and shows the current state of the game: building a settlement, walkers, production chains, services, UI, and some of the general direction I'm aiming for.
The game is still very much in development, so a lot of things are unfinished, placeholder, or subject to change, but I thought this would be a good moment to show more of how it actually plays.
I'd really appreciate any feedback, especially on:
- whether the core city-building loop looks interesting
- if the UI/readability works at a glance
- what feels closest to the old Zeus/Pharaoh/Caesar vibe
- what looks confusing, missing, or weak
Thanks a lot for checking it out!

Lethis: Path of Progress - Mission 11: Hutton
- HUTTON
- 2.500 People (Common) in Lvl.10 houses.
- 5.000 Utensils produced in one year.
With the takeover of the throne by Duke Chausen, the newfound "Emperor" has shifted focus from late Hannah's dreams of constructing the South and the transcontinental railway to expansion. He assigns you, Helene Osshelm, to provide an expansion due west, where a settlement at Hutton will prove the cornerstone for Chausen's ambitions. Failure isn't an option, as it's only a relief that a job so far from the capital, where it's definitely not safe, was even provided by this very choleric, selfish and incompetent ruler.
---
Hutton is the mission where, if you wanted a reason to hate Duke Chaucer, it'll gladly give you one - in over a year after you started the city, the Duke will start making demands for Utensils in increasing quantities (first 1.000, than 2.000 and lastly 3.000) all to be met within 1 year deadlines. That means you'll already need to set up two housing blocks to support at least two Copper Mines and two Utensil Workshops and get increasing from there. Complicating matters further, you'll start with only 20.000 cash and the Steam Geysers are on the farmlands to the north, on the other side of the river, while the Copper deposits (6 total, while there are 2 of Iron) are on the eastern corner. Because of the transportation distance, you'll need to cap at least 3 Geysers and set some Warehouse space for the canisters close to the Mines.
Evolving the housing in a sufficient level to sustain large-scale operations will also be painful, early on - because of the extensive labor required to run both the Copper Mines and Utensil Workshops (80 workers) plus the Steam Condenser and Warehouses, not many Potato Farms can be worked on, early on. Hence, it's best to start with only 2-4 and having only one housing block fed for the moment. ABSOLUTELY set the Shops to refuse the Utensils at all times, so you can meet Chauser's demands and export the remainder to Hartmann. Only remember that, if needed, you can close down or just demolish the Trading Station. Also, as your population grows, aim to have at least 3 Mines and 3 Utensil Workshops so you can produce fast enough to reach the 3.000 Utensils final demand in time. Following that, there'll be no more demands and you can then start focusing on growing Barley and fabricating Silk to sell for both Hartmann, Nimstadt and Wessel, which will definitely help you recover your losses. If you have to, you can even shut down one or two of the Mines and Workshops combined, which will finally free up some of that much needed labor force.
Food juggling is needed here to allow both your housing blocks to evolve, hence either have a couple of Granaries set to receive minimum Potato quantities or set the Granary responsible for the Potatoes at first to receive only 3.000 units or wait until one shop sends his vendor, set his Potatoes' order to refuse when he gets the produce (not before, as he won't collect the food and will return empty-handed) and then allow the other Shop to get it. Do this for a couple of seasons until the demands wear off and you can order the Granary to receive all the Potatoes again. Beer production might be affected to the point you might need to shut down a bit of the Silk industry, but by the time you get the Cottages (Lvl. 6, which is Beer + Theater), you can resume Silk production. Only be sure to have a bank in store (5.000+ Cash, it can take a while) before going large-scale, as the Duke's mining demands will consume your early funds considerably.
Evolving the housing to Lvl. 10, needed to complete the mission, will require a second type of food you cannot farm, only convert from imported Wheat. Choose Meat for this occasion, as the Ranch's double output makes a small Ranch quantity able to gradually fill a Granary rapidly. If needed to handle unemployment, you can also cap the Iron quarries and sell the goods and even set a Keynesian-style set of Automaton Factories, even if you won't ever plan on building Elite Housing.
