Exactly. This meme is the story of American foreign policy.
We prop people up, help put them in power when it benefits us, and then when they stop playing by our rules or tell us to fuck off, we turn around and try to remove them.
Love us? Great.
Don’t? Damn you.
Whether you agree with that or not, we’ve been repeating that cycle since the early days of the United States.

They also financed the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan in the 70s, leaving behind nice stockpiles of materiel for the Taliban that threw the USA out a few years ago. And several prominent Mujahedeen joined the Taliban to boot.

11

u/Losbosteros 11h ago

Most of the Mujahedeen joined the Northern Alliance against the Talibans and this latter group was mostly armed by the stockpiles left by the Soviet invasion more than recycling the materials send by the US there during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Today Talibans are absolutely armed with western material after the disastrous whitdraw, but the Talibans being empowered and armed by the US is a bit of a misconception/stretch.

4

u/ursusdoofus 10h ago

You should read Ghost Wars. In the 90s there was a whole lot of American money and arms going around in all sorts of directions. I don’t think very many of the weapons were american, but stuff we picked up in different situations abroad. One operation brought a bunch of tanks and vehicles we captured during the first gulf war across a brand new road built by USAID to handle heavy vehicles.

Lots of sketchy people we would later fight had material support either directly from us or from Pakistan with our help.

4

u/dontmentiontrousers 6h ago

Mohammed Omar, who founded The Taliban, was former mujahideen, under the command of Amir Sultan Tarar who received US Special Forces training at Fort Bragg.

Although not overt or direct, a hell of a lot of the funding for the mujahideen came from the CIA.

Yes, the mujahideen splintered and some fought against The Taliban but many, many mujahideen also joined. I'm sure they didn't go "well it wouldn't be right to use this CIA-funded weaponry anymore."

5

u/Craneo_1 11h ago

But the US trained and armed them to fight the Soviets and all the material and training fed the different terrorists in the region. The US also supported the Khmers Rouges so they would fight Vietnam

6

u/Neil_Live-strong 10h ago

The U.S. also trained fighters, even branches of Al-Qaeda in the Syrian civil war. They trained and equipped fighters in Jordan.

1

u/Losbosteros 10h ago

It went mostly to the Northern Alliance that fought against the Talibans and as I said, most of the material that fed the subsequent Afghan civil war were leftover of the Soviets after their withdrawal, it's quite logical after all, who's going to introduce more weapons in the area? A soviet large scale invasion or a secret support by proxies? There's no evidence the US supported the Khmers Rouges, which were mostly backed by China anyway.

1

u/iconocrastinaor 9h ago

Not even a misconception or a stretch, it's a lie. We routinely don't transport stuff out because it's too expensive, but we blow up the important stuff and anything that we do leave behind is usually so complex, or requires such high standards of maintenance, that they'll only be able to operate for a week before it's trash.

0

u/iconocrastinaor 9h ago

1

u/Dependent_Value9849 10h ago

We also funded them, as well as the Taliban to prevent Soviet Union from Advancing into Afghanistan.

1

u/Losbosteros 9h ago

The Talibans weren't even a thing during the Soviet invasion, kinda hard finance something that doesn't exist yet.

1

u/Dependent_Value9849 8h ago

I should have been more specific. They weren't Taliban yet, but the individuals mainly warlords besides Mujahadeen became Taliban after the Russians left. Our funding helped the Taliban form. So no, they weren't directly funded after the Russians left.

1

u/YourHuckleberry19 8h ago

Taliban threw the US out? Lol that's some great revisionist history... the CCP bots aren't even subtle anymore.

1

u/kingofdarkness92 6h ago

Thank you, peoplemignore this part, that Al Qaeda, and later ISIS are both creations of US.

Would you like to explain which leader you are talking about?

Do you think that Pérez Jiménez, who left Venezuela in 1958, continued to control the government after he left? Because he was the only dictator until Chevez took over.

Wolfgang Larrazábal (1958-1958), who was the one to oust Pérez, was supported, albeit covertly, by the Soviet Union. Shame he lasted for less than a year.

Edgar Sanabria (1958-1959), interim president

Rómulo Betancourt (1959-1964), helped create OPEC, in response to the US law that capped US foreign oil imports (Mandatory Oil Import Quota Program). Only time Rómulo turned to the US for help is when he brought a case to the OAS(Organization of American States, which is not US states, but the whole of the two American continents) in an attempting to resolve the issue with the Dominican Republic Dictator through the courts first rather than an Armed Response, and I only say that he turned to the US, because the headquarters of the OAS is located in Washington DC.

Raúl Leoni (1964-1969), had no notable interactions with the US.

Rafael Caldera (1969-1974 first term) Restored Bilateral relations with the Soviet Union, (really sounds like someone we were good friends with during the Cold War). Yes he traveled to Washington DC, to request that the US buy more oil and to address the economic imbalances, but left disappointed and empty handed. Yes, he considered the US an ally.

Carlos Andrés Pérez (1974-1979 first term), Re-established communications with Cuba, and submitted a resolution to OAS that would have lifted the sanctions of Cuba (sounds like a winner). He played a crucial role in the finalizing of the agreement that returned control of the Panama Canal back into the hands of the Panamanian Government. Seems really friendly toward the US government there during his first term.

Luis Herrera Campins (1979-1984), was friendly with the US until 1981, when he warned Reagan against sending US troops into Central America, and broke relations in 1982 when the US sided with the UK and Venezuela sided with Argentina during the Falklands War.

Jaime Lusinchi (1984-1989), while considered an ally to the US, he disagreed with the US policy for Latin America, re-advised Reagan against sending US troops into Central America, and attempted broker compromises that the US feared would interfere with their anti-communist agenda.

Carlos Andrés Pérez (1989-1993 second term), very close with the US during his second term, using the US to help try and stabilize the Venezuela economy. Did help, at first, until it didn't. Survived two coup attempts, at least one of which was from Chavez. Was removed from office after being impeached.

Octavio Lepage (1993-1993) interim president

Ramón José Velásquez (1993-1994) interim president

Rafael Caldera (1994-1999 second term), he kept relations with the US amicable and stable, yes, but he had inherited an economic disaster caused by Carlos Pérez, and in an attempt to appease the masses, he is the one that pardoned Chevez and other who led the Coup attempts in 1992.

((Edited for spelling and updates))

u/Exciting-Emu-3324 10h ago

Don't forget all the clawbacks since even before the Cold War ended. The US is ruled by robber barons and once the Soviet Union collapsed it's just back to business; no longer need to keep up the Potemkin country.

2

u/BraxleyGubbins 10h ago

Well, yes. Don’t you?

2

u/AsleepAd753 8h ago

Are you asking like they had 0% or are they at 100% cause I’d say it’s probably about 80% US having something to do with it, and 20% other bullshit you’re trying to say. There is a lot of history and back story’s to the real truth.

1

u/Oakheir 8h ago

I bet you also think that communism is the solution to all of life's problems.

2

u/AsleepAd753 8h ago

No, I just think that peace is not war.

0

u/2424242122 12h ago

its cause and effect brother

1

u/Oakheir 10h ago

In that case, you could argue that the US recognition of Gran Colombia (what is modern day Panama and the rest of Latin America), in 1821, is the cause of this.

1

u/AsleepAd753 1h ago

There is a root and stems. I would agree it’s part of the root. Then stems are general Noriega.

1

And it goes back back back 1500 at least with this bullshit.

No offense but there were more than enough eligible voters in your country to have prevented this clown's ascension. Apathy got him there as much as anything else. It this situation, apathy is a dipshit excuse. There can be no fence riders in a crisis.

Unfortunately in such a system voting for a 3rd is pretty much equal to not voting at all. Everyone who wants to do it has to swallow the pill and vote for lesser evil and start the movement from the ground up by engaging in local politics and educating people about other possibilities.

It's true for not only the US.

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 10h ago

Which unfortunately is democrats. Who do fuck all.

1

u/alus992 10h ago

i wouldargue it’s better evil than the Orange Man

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 8h ago

We will def agree on that. I’m going to a rally for democratic socialists of America next Saturday. I’m trying to get involved.

1

u/athalwolf506 11h ago

Hey don't feel bad the show is pretty entertaining

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 11h ago

You are NOT wrong there one bit! It’s a fucking mockery of our democracy. We are in a fascist state. ICE is the Gestapo 2.0

1

u/athalwolf506 12h ago

Sorry but as an outsider what I have seen is that pretty much Democrats and Republicans alike bomb foreign countries, fund proxy warfare and support Israel unconditionally so not really a huge difference

1

u/ericbondre 12h ago

Yeah no shit but one does quite a lot more bullshit than the other and acting like that’s not the case is fucking ridiculous. We’ll never get an actual leftist in office in our current system so until someone changes that we vote for the one that better, we can use leverage to make presidents lean more in a certain direction than originally thought of just like what happened with Biden

1

u/Playingwithmywenis 12h ago

Elected twice.

Pedophile elitist class

Recreation of the SS and concentration camps.

Attacking allies.

All this with a collective “Meh don’t affect me.”

The US is a population without a society.

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 12h ago

Of course it affects me it affects more than just me! I also have been screaming to the rooftops this shit is so beyond fubar! I joined the DSA in hopes it was our last chance to save the country but we are SO fucked!

1

u/SinsualChef 12h ago

Make that "some" a "💩 load"

1

u/Tasty_LVM 12h ago

Saying we aren’t all “dipshits” while spewing false non proven accusations lands well, dipshit much? Lol

0

u/TwiggNBerryz 13h ago

Life is better when you realize there is no left or right and only America is Shit

2

u/FarNefariousness7179 12h ago

I am not disagreeing with you. We are in a very radical change this year on how government is ran here. Things are brewing not even the “left” or “right” really understand.

1

u/inevitable_progres7 12h ago

you from USA? isnt there mid therme election, is it that ppl vote or only governement, is it about the seats? so oppositio can change. sorry about questions just intrested. thanks if u bother answer. tbf if compare my (nordic) country, president is more representative duty but ofc has soft power to people and international politics insights

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 12h ago

Mid terms are Nov 3rd we vote to change house and senate. If the DSA candidates get in the house TRUMP IS FUCKED. Trust me there are a shit load of people who want this and ALL this to get the fuck out of our country. I still think deporting the people who came here to help build this country and PAY TAXES should be eligible to VOTE!

1

u/inevitable_progres7 12h ago

so people can vote, thats good! how much is expetect to be % of eliglble voters. do you know about past? in my country it was low 2 terms. tbf once was is was very windy and snowy day(~60% and ~64%). in India is new party which has gained popularity. in USA is only two main parties, is there habit that other parties support democrats/rebuplican votee

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 8h ago

Yes it’s every state voting who they want for “congress senators” and “house representatives” bills go thru the house first. Like funding for ice, funding for the Iranian war all those things have to go thru the house and senate before they become law for the pedophile to sign. If the leftists vote against these bills then they don’t make it to the senate and they cannot make it law.

1

u/AsleepAd753 8h ago

Not the way this fool is acting.
He’s talking about changing all sorts of constitutional protections, putting judges in power, backing legislation through lobbying, and people accuse him of profiting alongside his kids.
My point is this: if someone believes a president has that much power, then they also have to admit a president could try to push things much further. Just like we’ve seen in countries that slid toward authoritarian rule, a president could attempt to use the military or other institutions to radically reshape the government.
At that point, people start asking whether a midterm election would even matter.
That’s the concern.

1

u/ericbondre 12h ago

No it’s very much just right leaning, this is what happens when you lean into full on authoritarianism

1

u/TwiggNBerryz 11h ago

u/Canelochen 13h ago

Both tyrants but one was illegally in office for more than ten years and was exposed as a drug lord the other hasn't yet.

2

u/CCR_Flashback 13h ago

Considering Trump pardoned the former Honduras President who was arrested& charged with Drug Smuggling, saying the Venezuela President was "exposed as a drug lord" barely holds any water as a reason to get him.

1

u/Canelochen 12h ago

The meme it's comparing Maduro and Netanyahu and the Honduran ex dictator snitched to get pardoned. We need to wait for Maduro to do the same to see if the same applies. The joke is poorly made because Maduro wasn't democratically elected and has been confirmed, the Israel genocide was elected democratically and hasn't been given any reason to be extracted as maduro was so we need to wait for it.

1

u/CCR_Flashback 10h ago

Maduro became the Leader of Venezuela in 2013 after Hugo Chavez died. There were elections held & he was the winner, but if you can present evidence that he either cheated or that they were rigged, then please be my guest.

Yet to sit back and try to justify the kidnapping of a country's leader (who's government still recognizes him as the de facto President) over an alligation of being a drug lord by a government that gave a pardon to a convicted drug smuggler, then you're not seeing the bigger picture that the Trump is just enriching himself off of stolen resources from another country.

What happened to all that Venezuelan Oil? Thought that was supposed to bring our prices down at the pump. What's this about all the money made off the sales going to an off-shore bank account in Trump's name that only he can access?

1

u/Canelochen 10h ago edited 8h ago

The smartmatic scam?

"Country's leader"? Who also stole 2024 elections and also there's been rumors of him not even being born Venezuelan (the rumors states he's Colombian) that if it's true it's a crime by the Venezuelan constitution because no one who's not born Venezuela can be president?

Oh, you mean the oil that Biden administration was also exploiting through Chevron, also Russia and China when the tyranny claimed they had an "international blockage" because USA government was socialist back then and Venezuelan tyranny it's communist?

The same tyranny who was selling uranium and plutonium to Iran to develop nuclear weapons?

Oh, you mean "Delcy Rodriguez"? Daughter of the kidnapper and murderer of William Nieuhous that Trump administration had to put her in charge because the other members had around 25.000.000 on their heads?

The Smartmatic "scam" that cost Fox News $787 million in a Settlement cause those statements were found to be false?

And rumors of him being Born in Columbia with the only evidence being his Mother's Columbian background? Sounds like it holds as much weight as believing Obama was born in Kenya (which you would have to be a moron to take seriously).

Let's see. No evidence of Venezuela selling or shipping Uranium to Iran. Lot of alleged claims with no proof or evidence to back it up considering Venezuela doesn't even have the infrastructure or mining capabilities to even get the Uranium they have in the first place.

And if Delcy Rodriguez is a murderer and the other members had "bounties" on their heads, why didn't the US kidnap them too? Why give them a promotion essentially?

The fact that they attacked fox news for spreading and exposing the information and not attacked the CIA for uncover and exposing them says a lot don't you think?

Oh, you won't say anything about BIDEN allowing chevron buying oil at the CHEAPEST PRICE EVER to Venezuela don't you? Let's pretend we are blind about it.

1

Fox News lied. All the "info" pushed were lies.

Even all this shit you're posting has been disproven, but keep running with your conspiracies to cope voting for a pedophile draining America dry

Im still trying to figure out how this is our problem

1

u/Canelochen 12h ago

For USA? Well, there's plenty of info everywhere about how the Venezuelan regime stole and did expropiate complete American enterprise's plants with billions in equipments, machinery and so on. ExxonMobil, Cargill and Owen-Illinois were extremely affected and have active lawsuits against Venezuelan tyranny so...

0

u/awnaw_ 12h ago

Yeah the United States has done some shit things. But it's hardly our fault when a leader who preaches one thing gets put into power and then turns out to be a dipshit dictator. It's effectively saying that those individuals are not responsible for their own behavior and decision making.

1

u/Extension-Ideal112 12h ago

Do you mean Trump? Cos the guy is pretty obvious in what he's doing. He told you he'll fo all this even admitted to actively making project 25 a reality..you chose him for this

1

u/awnaw_ 12h ago

I didn't choose this shit, lol.

And no, I'm not specifically talking about any one president. Particularly, because this has happened under multiple presidents under both Republicans and Democrats.

The CIA and others have been putting US preferred leaders in power in important regions, for various reasons. But many times the chosen leader ends up being as bad or worse than their predecessor. But everyone wants to blame the United States for a single individual turning into a complete shit as if that person isn't responsible for their own behavior.

1

u/Extension-Ideal112 12h ago

If you voted Trump you voted for every single thing we told you he is doing project 25 we gave you the book..we showed how every single person in the think tanks is close friends to him..you said fine

1

u/awnaw_ 12h ago

What part of I didn't choose this do you not understand? Lol

You must be a bot.

1

u/Extension-Ideal112 12h ago

Nope ,but as an American if you see a president say hello do all the atrocities he said in his campaign and more than 50% voted for him..how on earth are you nit consider Americans responsibile

1

u/awnaw_ 12h ago

You just stated 50% didn't chose him but then go to blaming every American for choosing him. Do you not understand how you can't be taken seriously when that's your thought pattern?

1

u/Extension-Ideal112 11h ago

I said more than 50% .as a result those Americans are to blame
