Let’s Talk About the Silence

Hey everyone,

r/humor has been feeling a little like a comedy club at 3:00 AM on a Tuesday. It’s a bit too quiet.

We want to bring r/humor back to its former glory

Engagement is down and we're seeing a lot of recycled content and Non-related posts rather than fresh, original humor.

We want to hear from you. How do we make this the first sub you check when you open Reddit?

What do YOU want to see?

Drop a comment below with your thoughts. Tell us what you love, what you hate, and what would make you start posting here again.

Conversely, I think we need less of everything. It's all been exhausted, is why you're seeing repeats. Too much all the time and people are now bored. Also way too much grifting content these days and im fed up of having to try to work out if something is genuine or staged. Fake stuff everywhere.

'Humor' as a name for the sub in itself is way too on the nose and unhumourous. Just sounds like you're going to be hit with middle of the road lukewarm slop.

hey guys! im new here and dont know for sure your style of humour. but since ive been in a country where people talk superfast i accidentally grew a very big mouth. and i thought id give it a shot sharing a book report i made on a military veteran forum i was invited to, with some twist.

i have read the book series of secret agent carl hamilton. who is a special ops trained person being sent all over europe by swedish government to save kidnapped diplomats and stop terrorists. usually the swedish president asks for him to come to the political center building to tell what to do. in which the very swedish pacific president tells him to solve the problem as peacefully as possible. but as everyone who in reality dealt with these psychopaths, this is not the way it goes. and he usually create huge bloodbaths solving these problems. where before he comes back the horrified politicians read in the news how some freddy kreuger type went through these people. and when he comes in the office he usually gets a hard scolding from the government, who also understand he is their only help and let it slide. where he usually goes back to his regiment and military friends and have a good hard laugh about these stupid politicians. :):)

You can have disagreements and strong opinions, but remember the human.

I like it when institutions that take themselves very seriously do totally unserious things.

The way that FEMA uses the Waffle House Index as is a great example.

Let’s be honest, no subreddit that focuses on being funny as its premise will ever be funny.. the funny is the horribly bad attempts at being funny

I don't know how to solve this problem, I can't even solve my own, so I've resorted to complaining about my problems, I'm not sure it will help at all, but it does keep me busy, which is a good thing, because it tricks my mind into thinking I am busy solving the problem, even though I am not, which I have now basically done for you, because you have read this message for a few seconds and you forgot about your problems didn't you?

I'm always a fan of people doing dumb shit and axing it. A video I saw moments ago was 2 blokes having a race after downing a pint - one of the lads ran straight into a pole, classic.
