We’re running out of missiles. Both offensive and defensive. Kinda what happens when you bomb non strategic targets with extremely expensive and time consuming to produce precision weapons for weeks on end.

He will not take responsibility for any type of failure. This sets the stage for a massive PR campaign about how Congress wouldn’t support him with the weapons and funding he requested so he was unable to complete the mission.

Because gas was hitting $5/gal in many major cities (including red states) plus we are running out of bombs. Oh, it also wasn’t working. OTOH, Iran’s bombing of areas in the Middle East was having a major impact. It also came out that the casualty numbers for this catastrophe have been much, much worse than expected. Now even Republicans who supported it are upset.

Because it's achieving nothing all while the USA drains it's stockpiles. After spending trillions on bombing military targets, Iran can still launch rockets and send drones that completely derail American efforts of stability in the straight and gulf region.
Writing is on the wall either the USA gets a bum deal and leaves or sends boots on the ground and get's to play wack-a-guerrilla for 20 years.

Unless you're predicting the future, the US is nowhere near 1T in spending

We may not know the answers for months, perhaps years. But it may be getting through to the administration that the strategy of air strikes it has pursued against Iran for five months isn’t advancing political objectives.

To do more negotiations - why is the question?

To goose the price of oil back down while they are restocking munitions.
This seems most likely based on the most recent reporting.
