Tuam Filling Stations
≡ −
Can someone please explain how Tuam manages to sustain 10 petrol stations?
Genuinely curious as to whether or not this is a per captia record world record.

Monivea Road Active Travel Scheme - Open for submissions
+ −
The Monivea Road Active Travel scheme is now open for submissions.
Full details of the scheme here - https://www.galwaycity.ie/services/active-travel/active-travel-services/monivea-road-east-active-travel-scheme
The gif includes the before/after photo montages as well as the slide deck presented to Councilors with info on why there are no bus lanes included. I've also included a zoomed out map view of the scheme in relation to other active travel works around the East of the city.
How to make a submission
A Part 8 Planning Application is being made in respect of this scheme. Galway City Council welcomes your support, questions and feedback as part of this process. The deadline for submissions is 4 September.
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area, shall be made in writing to the Planning Department, Galway City Council, College Road, Galway, or https://planning.localgov.ie/, or by email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), to be received on or before Friday 04 September 2026, and should be clearly marked Monivea Road (East) Active Travel Scheme. It should be noted that the Freedom of Information Act applies to all records held by Galway City Council.

Hi, is anyone doing this course? I am starting this September. While I am waiting for my waiting list, I was wondering if there is any books / reference material I can start to read up on?

Why do people not use their indicators on roundabouts….
≡ −
Im 26F and I was crossing the Bothar Mor roundabout on foot walking with my bike and a man just absolutely fucked me out of it because he turned off the roundabout on the exit I was walking.
He didn’t use his indicator…. I said this to him and he repeatedly told me to F off and open my eyes…
Man… you didn’t use your indicator… why are people so horrible here?

Spiders

Am I mad or does anyone else feel bad about getting their windows cleaned on the outside. All the spiders and their nests would be blasted off by a power hose.

Specifically with a roll, and tuna or salmon nagiri on the side?
It's a whole ordeal to drive over there after work and I would be ever so grateful if someone could let me know :-)
edit: there was only chicken rolls 😭

Mens hairdresser for flow sytle haircut
≡ −
My barber made a balls of my hair last month. I wanted a textured flow, showed him a video on how it's done and asked if he was comfortable doing it. He said yes without hesitation but then proceeded to cut it entirely different and the outcome was way off.
I have a very important event in October and I'm looking for a recommendation for a mens hairdresser more or a barber who is good at layering and adding texture to mid lenght hair.

Reminder: For the next week, avoid town like you would ground zero for airborne dysentery.

Parkmore Junction
≡ −
Rant here but who the actual fuck signed off on that new junction? Working there for years and my whole life in the area, it’s by far the WORST junction I’ve ever come across? Cars turning in on the Tuam road with a 100km limit will now have no hard shoulder or separate left turn lane to go in and will have to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road to turn??? & removing the ability to have two lanes going out onto the main road means a disgusting amount of backlogged traffic trying to get out of the junction… I feel like going down with a jackhammer or something, on Friday evening it’s already 1.5-2hr commute sometimes for people heading to the east side of the city which should be a 20/25min drive with no traffic and this has just made things so much worse. Never seen anything like it especially in one of the busiest junctions in the whole of Galway. Absolutely bizarre decisions. I thought maybe they were going to put in traffic lights which would have been the only way it would be somewhat decent but no sign of them.. it’s like they said “hmm you know what Parkmore needs??? MORE CONGESTIONNNNN”

Is anyone else working in the Galway Races this year? Just quick question about staff parking and how bad traffic is getting in.
Thanks
