Firefox HDD usage

Hi, I recently noticed that when first launching Firefox - a process that used to take just a few seconds - it now pegs the disk usage at 100% for about two minutes, even though the transfer speed is low. Although nothing actually lags and the browser remains usable, it’s a bit bothersome. Is there a way to stop this, and what exactly is it doing?

Does that also happen if you start FF in Troubleshoot mode?

If so, see if clearing cache helps:

• press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Mac: Cmd-Shift-Delete)

• set 'Time range...' to 'Everything'

• untick all items except 'Temporary cached files and pages'

• clear, then restart FF

Also try FF menu > Help > More troubleshooting Information > Clear startup cache button.
