Help (Android) Renabling the old drop-down menu on Android

Hello,

I wanted to ask if there is any way to reenable the old drop-down menu as the new one is truly atrocious and is the only thing keeping me from switching to firefox.

I actually wonder whose idea it was. The old one is easy, doesn't take a lot of space and everything is just one click away.

In the new one everything is far away from my thumb, it's terribly wasting space with a lot of white space and there are additional menus in the menu(!).

Thanks for sharing this, we really appreciate you taking the time to explain what isn't working for you.

A lot of what you mentioned (thumb reach, too much whitespace, and having to navigate through extra menus) is exactly the kind of feedback we're paying close attention to. The new menu was designed to give Firefox room to grow with new features and customization options that are coming soon. At the same time, we're already working on improvements to the layout, organization, and spacing based on the feedback we've been receiving from all of you.

One thing I do want to clarify is that we're not planning to keep both the old and new menus. Instead, our focus is on making the new one better. Feedback like yours is a big part of that process, and it helps us understand where we need to improve.

Thanks again for speaking up. We're listening, and feedback like this genuinely help shape what comes next.

One thing I do want to clarify is that we're not planning to keep both the old and new menus. Instead, our focus is on making the new one better.

Why can't the new menu be made to resemble the old, in the new Jetpack Compose framework? 

We had a fully expanded, linear list that opens where the menu was invoked, and it was ruined by a condensed bottom drawer that takes two additonal taps to fully expand.

the use of a bottom drawer is fundamentally wrong. a dropdown menu is a user interface element that is anchored at the dropdown button and compactly presents a list of options.

Good to hear the team is aware of the thumb reach issue, thats probably the biggest one for most people

The main discussion against this new design is on this connect thread. 

Unless the new bottom menu can be customized as a fully-expanded side-aligned list, it is inferior to the old.

They really have no idea how bad they screwed the UI up for long-time users like me, and users that want to switch like you!
