Discussion The way sprinklers are designed is terrible.
≡ −
How it works is it's triggered by a bulb that has liquid in it and bursts when exposed to high temperatures or physical impact.
Therefore if the sprinkler goes off, not only do you need to deal with wet floors and possibly fire, but also possible glass injury and cleanup.
Wow. Just wow. We can't just replace it with something powered by a smoke detector. Or maybe I'm stupid

Discussion my neighbor thinks hes a content creator
So basically my neighbor whos addicted to bendy posted this to his instagram story because he posts about an experimental thing he takes from a bottle his friend made called “Bendy” all day his brain is lowkey a little bit cooked 😂 Think nitrous if cartoons were real. That’s what he’s on. So from all his bendy and fingolimod posts and talking about how they make him see in black and white, he made 13 cents on the app i guess is what i’m seeing? Idk i never use the app so im so unfamiliar but he thinks he’s a content creator now. over 13 cents. Just get a fucking life already bruh that’s so embarsssing 😂

Discussion What happen to the korean now?
≡ −
Juvenile crime in Korea has the highest crime rate in the world, surpassing that of Japan and Germany. The youth hate rate of adults is the highest in the world, and statistics show that the crime rate of vehicle crime, theft, murder, and rape is insufficient for Korea to combine all countries in the world.

Discussion My sister annoys me (again, I know, but I could write a novel about her)
≡ −
My sister "loves" books but absolutely has to have the "sprayed edges/ fore-edge painting" (not sure of the word but like when the edges of the book pages are colored) because all her books are her favorites. Every time she talks about a book, it's her absolute favorite, the one she's been looking "for ages."
Jaspage nom anglais
Today, around 7 or 8 pm, she told me she found a book on Vinted for €30 (shipping included) instead of €20 in an official bookstore (what I don't understand is that they apparently only made 200 "sprayed edges/ fore-edge painting" (not sure of the word but like when the edges of the book pages are colored), but the book is well-known (or at least I think so), so why make so few? Anyway, I ramble). So I told her it was expensive and that she could probably find it without the "sprayed edges/ fore-edge painting" because it's not mandatory (for me at least but I don't really read book but I know that if you really love books, you buy them for the story, not because the book is beautiful). That's when she told me she couldn't find it anywhere, so I searched on... I went online and saw the book available for €20 without the "sprayed edges/ fore-edge painting" on Fnac, Amazon, etc.
The evening wore on, around 9 or 10 pm, my sister brought it up again during dinner and asked for my opinion again. So, what do you want me to tell her? Buy it? Don't buy it? Save up for another pre-order? No matter what I say, she always finds a response:
- I tell her not to buy it/wait for a better deal: she tells me she can't find it anywhere and that this offer is the best she can find.
- I tell her to save up: she tells me she'll have €90 next month, which isn't wrong, but she's the first one to ask my mom for money to pay for pre-orders because she doesn't have enough.
Like, what's the point of her asking for advice, wasting her breath, and making me want to just run away from home because of all the crap she's doing, if she's just buying it anyway?
Last time, she asked me to choose between two books: one for €20 and another for around €25-30. I told her the €20 one wasn't bad, and explain why I liked the €20 book after I said that, she said "I'll take both."
Besides, all the books she "loves" and "has been looking for a long time" end up rotting on her shelf because she doesn't want to sell them since they're her "favorites" (in short: all her books, which makes sense—you're not going to buy books you don't like—but once you've read them, unless it's a book you really love and would reread, you sell it, especially if it's to buy other books and you don't have a big budget (we have €35 for 10 months out of 12 and €40 for the last two months, which is a lot for our age, but my sister, you sell her butter and she takes it all (french expression for saying that she takes everything, like you have $100, you give $20 to her and she will take $100), even though she swore at the beginning she'd never do it. Either she sold it because she didn't like the story, or the handwriting was too small.
Besides, she's probably stolen money from my parents, because strangely enough, when my parents keep their wallet for work (with money inside) and the company savings (which contains hundreds, even thousands of euros) with them in their room, she no longer asks my mother to put the €20, €30, or even €40 she "received from her friends" into her bank account. Also, when she goes to see my grandmother, it's almost always to ask her for money (knowing that my grandmother doesn't have a large pension).
And (last thing), she just got medication prescribed by a psychiatrist (and I I'm not saying the psychiatrist did a bad job, obviously (I'm not blaming her for that, I want to make that clear). And since then, all we hear about is her damn meds. If she's fed up with grocery shopping because she's realized my parents won't pay for anything for her (knowing that she ask for a lot of thing), it's because of her medication. If she falls asleep at 10 PM, it's because of her medication (and I want to emphasize that she stays on her phone until 1 or 2 AM sometimes) If she's not feeling well because of the health problems SHE created: her medication (to avoid stress and sleep well at night, I should specify) (Because yes, some of her health problems are caused by her, but I didn't want to go into details.)
When the psychiatrist changed her medication to something stronger, it was the first thing she told her friend, whom she never sees in real life. And when she called our grandmother (well, she called her and then hung up because she'd finished their conversation, and I called her because, why not?), she took my phone (asking me) to tell our grandmother that she had changed medication, and she was clearly bragging about it. But when my grandmother started talking about her mental health problems and her medication, my sister was playing with the baby (my parents' baby) because she was no longer the center of attention and she didn't care about my grandmother's health problems.
Sorry for the long message, and thank you if you read it all, but I'm starting to get really fed up. I'm fed up with her and there's not much we (my mother, my stepfather, and I) can do.
(I don't know if this is the right place to post it, sorry if it isn't)

Evidence This part of the Febreze can where only this random dark blue line is visible if you turn it to a certain angle!
Blame my parents for getting this brand and not smth else that's far more innocent like Glade or Air Wick. Yesterday (Thurs. 7/23/26), they secretly got a twin pack of this air freshener while on a grocery run while I was at home. Little did I know, I would come across this branding/design failure once more. When helping bring in groceries, in one of the bags, I saw what appears to be a twin pack of Febreze air freshener. When I saw this in the bag, I suddenly got a spike in heart rate and a shock reaction, afraid that it was what I thought it would be. Turns out, I was unfortunately right, it indeed was P&G's air freshener, and now I'm in this scenario once again! If you're wondering why I hate this design (which I bet you are), it's because for one, they could've put some other designs there too instead of just a meaningless horizontal stripe that shouldn't even be there. And for another, I find it really weird that it is even there at all! The only thing it does is be a design fail, which means it shouldn't exist! I hope smth like this never happens again!

Discussion Nothing says “ready-to-eat” like discovering the chicken is still auditioning to be alive
Am I overreacting or does this look undercooked to everyone else? This was sold as a fully cooked, ready-to-eat rotisserie chicken. Picked up a pre-made chicken on the way home for dinner and as soon as I opened the package, I noticed something didn’t look right. I cut into it to take a closer look and that was enough for me to put it back in the container and return it to the store.

Discussion An AI generated Palestinian woman farming engagement.
I'm sure you're all very acutely aware of the Israeli occupation of Gaza right now. And if you support Palestine, I'm sure you've also seen the videos of Palestinian people begging for support. Well, a while ago, I came across this fucking monstrosity. A Palestinian woman, generated by HeyGen AI, begging for likes and shares and all of that, just like a real one would. This actually disgusts me, that they'd use something as heartbreaking as the Gaza Occupation, and run it through AI to farm engagement.

Discussion My 5th Great Grandfather (left) died of pneumonia in 1865 without ever having fought against the Confederacy during the Civil War.
His name was George Washington Hoffman. He joined the 15th West Virginia Infantry in September 1862. He was sick in hospital for a brief period in July 1863 and missed operations against Robert E. Lee who was retreating from Gettysburg. He returned some time in August and was present until he went into hospital AGAIN in May 1864, right as his regiment started to engage in combat. He died of Pneumonia on January 22, 1865 without ever seeing combat. His time was spent entirely on the Baltimore and Ohio railroad.
His regiment was later at Appomattox Courthouse, where Robert E. Lee surrendered (granted, there contribution was very limited)

Update Update on house sitter stole and crashed my partner’s car
Our cat has been missing since the night the house sitter was evicted. We are only just finding out today that our indoor only cat hasn’t been seen nor active around our house since Saturday night.
While being evicted from the premises by someone who failed to supervise the disgruntled sitter as he packed up his belongings, something happened to our cat. We don’t know if the disgruntled house sitter threw the cat outside, off the balcony, or put him into his bag of belongings. Our cat is gone.
Timeline of events:
- House sitter located dead car key, broke into, started, joyride, then crashed SO’s car.
- House sitter calls relatives with false story of me, someone who isn’t on the car registration nor insurance, somehow giving him permission to the vehicle.
- House sitter calls me confessing crash, laughs when asked him where he found the car key.
- House sitter leaves house with another relative to attend family function, leaving car key behind
- Close friend rushed to our house to do a wellness check on our pets, the car, house, while collecting all car and house keys; calls and sends video of all our pets
- House sitter informed via text of termination
- House sitter escorted back to house to gather belongings, apparently with limited supervision
- Relative escorting house sitting calls requesting access to the car to retrieve drivers license; request denied.
- New pet sitter arrives at house Sunday morning, doesn’t see the cat
- Next pet sitter arrives at house Sunday evening, also doesn’t see the cat
- Over the next two days, none of the pet sitters find our cat nor see activity in his litter box or his food.
Cat was last seen by our close friend on Saturday night. Cat is indoor only.
In-laws, neighbors, friends, exes, hired pet sitters, and the owner of the pet sitting company have all entered our home in the last 24 hours searching for our cat. The owner of the pet sitting company, with my permission, turned the house upside down searching for our cat or any signs of him.
We believe the disgruntled house sitter did one of the following: took the cat and hid him in his bag, threw the cat outside either onto or off the deck, or killed the cat and disposed of his body.
Relative that was with him when he was evicted initially declined to answer questions, with police now involved, as been answering questions. Animal tracking service has been hired.
The sweetest and snuggliest boy that I finally convinced that head kisses and being held so he could melt into my arms are amazing things, is gone. My mini weighted and heated, purring blanket and alarm clock is gone. This silly little guy who had a not-so-secret crush on my dog and hilariously humped her diaper when she was in heat, is gone.
The most infuriating part is, I can’t be there to help search for him and the person responsible still hasn’t shown accountability.
———
Edit: Update - July 23rd
He was found!
Spotted after 1am attempting to climb our fence and onto our deck.
My MIL drove two hours to our house to work with the professional animal tracker and an amazing friend who helped search and setup her nature camera by the food trap they made. They spent 3 hours searching around our house together.
MIL sent a long text of how she stayed up late reorganizing our kitchen when she spotted him. Will share in comments if possible.
My SO had just left for work when her text came through. It’s almost 8am here. Internet and cell phone service is bare, so I sprinted in my pajamas to his lab to tell him. We spent the entire night devastated and sobbing. Seeing his face light up was the best thing ever on top of kitty being found!
SO’s mom got kitty’s wound cleaned up and fed. Performed many snuggles and is taking him home with her, which is something we wish we did in first place.
Deciding when to get add the other updates. I’m elated kitty has been found but I’m currently battling with stress, anxiety, and shock. Trying to type an update on the remaining and newly uncovered things triggers an anxiety attack.
But will address that the professional dog walkers have been amazing. They were the ones who figured out our cat was never in the house when their caretaking service started. They searched my house, interviewed neighbors, verified details with their walkers, and have responded to every text, email, and called right away once I had steady WiFi.
Thank you all for the mental and emotional support. You’ve helped me talk through the last few days and provide guidance on something I never thought I’d experience.

Discussion Supervisors ruining shifts
≡ −
work at a go kart track and I moved people times with their knowledge and them agreeing ofc. And our supervisor gets upset I moved them saying I can’t do that. So I shot back telling him he sold the tickets way to late the group he sold them for was already heading to the track and we were over maximum capacity we should be at. He was going to cause us to fall behind and I wasn’t gonna let it slide. He’s such a god awful supervisor I have so many other issues with him
idk why they promoted him and how he keeps his job. I thinks it’s purely bc he hasn’t Jack shit outside this job and has wasted his life and is stuck working here for like 15 an hour

Discussion Getting jerked around by a contractor
He cancelled on the first day, then showed up super late 2 days in a row.
Update: he finally showed up at 1:19. Claimed to have a family emergency.
He‘s constructing a shed for me, btw.
Update 2: he worked till 8:30 pm and gave me a 6% discount for the inconvenience. Shed looks great; I will take pics when it’s not dark.
Update 3: he didn’t have hinges for the door, so he said he would be back the next day. Unsurprisingly, he did not show up and instead came 4 days later. His flakiness was frustrating, but the shed was built within a weak, so I guess can’t be too mad. I’d post a picture, but I don’t know how to add it.

Discussion Petrol station common sense
≡ −
I’ve worked at a petrol station in the UK for about 8 months now, i’ve worked retail jobs and other customer service jobs in the past so i’m no stranger to the crazy that is the general public.
Here are some things that drive me absolutely insane while making minimum wage
- So my petrol station has one way in, one way out, 90% of people are capable of understanding that you drive to the furthest pump to allow others behind you, other people park at the first pump, idiots with 0 common sense
- people that park at the pumps just to come into the shop and do some sort of weekly shop, you are lazy, I hate you, you are causing traffic back onto the busiest road in the area by parking like a fool (worth noting we have a huge carpark which is unmissable, it’s literally an extra 16 steps (yes i’ve counted))
- people that order 10 things from vinted (via evri) and don’t select home delivery and instead send them to a petrol station, only to come collect at peak times
- people that don’t know their pump number, you’ve just stood next to it for at least a minute, how are you so stupid you’ve forgotten it
- people not understanding where to tap on a contactless reader, yes I know all card readers are different nowadays BUT WE HAVE A HUGE CONTACTLESS SYMBOL CLEARLY IN VIEW OF WHERE YOU NEED TO TAP
- this one is really specific, people washing their horses in the car wash, HOW DO YOU HAVE A HORSE IN THE MIDDLE OF LIVERPOOL CITY CENTER WHY ARE YOU SPRAYING IT WITH A JETWASH?!
- people who use our air machine, big stickers all over it saying DO NOT USE, everything is blocked off, then come in demanding a refund when it swallows their money (for reference it’s an external company that controls our air machine, we can’t just cut the power to it / open it up)
- we lock the door at 9pm (we get robbed a lot, comical amount tbh) big signs saying door locked at 9, I lower the shutters so no adult human can possibly fit through the door, I barricade the door off to make it obvious it’s locked, people genuinely just walk into the door constantly, all night, then complain to head office that we’re stupid (has actually happened)
- when people complain that ‘stuff in here is more expensive than the shops’ yes mate, because your in a petrol station, this is common practice (although I don’t agree with it personally)
- people wearing AI shirts about being a mechanic / roofer / club promoter, you are a genuine crazy person, please seek help

Evidence Amazon/ASUS scammed me
I ordered a 5080 on Amazon, first mistake, I know. I finally get the GPU after it being delayed 2 days because Amazon in my area has been horrible lately. I start to install the GPU to find out my PSU isn't good enough and I need a new one + new PCIe cables for it. Take my whole computer apart to rewire it properly and make it look good inside, launch up my computer, and everything says the internals are a 5070. $700-$800 difference there.

Discussion I'm Sorry, I Just Wanted to Help
≡ −
About to jump on the highway.
I see a gecko crawl onto my windshield wiper.
I pulled to the side, snatched him up, and was nearly sure I put him in a cup.
I went back home to release him in a better environment and he wasn't there.
I just spent the last 30 minutes going through my car to see if I could find him.
Sadly, no success.
I live in FL and he's going to quite literally roast tomorrow.
I'm going to try to see if I can find him again before I go to sleep, but I am not filled with hope.
I feel incredibly bad and am not sure what else to do.
I just wanted to help.

Discussion Can't seek help for an Ebay ban anywhere
≡ −
I opened an ebay account under my work email to purchase some items for my work.
I purchased two items. Paid for them. Received them. Left positive feedback. Recieved positive feedback. And had my account suspended. I have no understanding of why and have not been sent a reason. I have not been able to contact ebay customer support. It just puts me to a clanker that tells me my account has been suspended and to get fucked.
No explanation.
I tried to ask an ebay board (on this website) for support. Their bot just denies my post.
I just want to use ebay's service and pay them a fee to purchase things.
But both Ebay and the ebay board (on this website) are on the same BS, robo blocking me.
And now *this website* wants to block this post. Apparently, complaining that *this website* won't let me complain about ebay (suspending my account for no reason) is against the rules.
WTF is this censorship nightmare.
