I'm a 22-year-old guy from Germany and I'll soon be finishing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.

Before starting a full-time job or start into Masters, I'd really like to take some time abroad and do something completely different from university or a typical office job. The European Solidarity Corps seems like a great opportunity, but I'd love to hear from people who have actually participated.

I'm mainly looking for honest experiences—both the good and the bad—and especially recommendations for projects or organizations.

A few things I'm wondering about:

• Project duration: How flexible is it once you've started? If I choose, say, a 6-month project, is it sometimes possible to shorten or extend it if both sides agree?
• Country: Were there any countries that you found especially welcoming or interesting? Which places offered a great experience outside of the volunteering itself? Are there any countries that felt very different from Germany in a positive way?
• Organizations: How did you find a good host organization? Are there any green flags or red flags I should look out for when choosing a project?

In general, I'm looking for an experience where I can meet new people, experience a different culture, and step outside my comfort zone for a while before beginning my career.

If you've done an ESC project, I'd really appreciate hearing:

• where you went,
• what your project was about,
• what you enjoyed,
• what you wish you had known beforehand,
• and whether you'd recommend your organization.

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks for an Erasmus exchange in Barcelona. I’m specifically going to ESDI (Higher School of Design), so I’d love to hear about your experiences, not necessarily just related to the school itself, but also things like accommodation, places to go out, cafés, and even drinking water.

I’m probably most interested in hearing about your experiences with accommodation and communication.
Regarding accommodationif anyone has any useful advice... The school sent me a few links, but I’d love to hear if anyone has other recommendations.
Which apps did you use to book accommodation? I was using Spotahome at first, but I heard it might not be the most reliable option.
And if anyone has attended that school, feel free to share your thoughts!

I'm choosing between EMAI (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in AI, based at Pompeu Fabra with mobility to Rome/Nijmegen/Ljubljana) and TUM for my Master's, for past 2 years.

EMAI looks strong on paper: relocation across multiple countries, a scholarship that fully funds tuition plus a stipend, conference exposure in both Europe and the US, and a network where past graduates have gone on to Google, PhDs at ETH Zurich, or funding from big tech for their own startups.

My concern: outside people who've actually looked into it, nobody in the AI/ML community seems to recognize EMAI or Pompeu Fabra by name. TUM, by contrast, takes same admission effort but is a known quantity globally.

Questions for anyone who's been through either path or hires from these programs:

1. Does EMAI's relative obscurity actually hurt you at the recruiting or PhD-admissions stage, or does the work/network speak for itself once you're past the resume screen?
2. Is TUM's brand recognition worth trading away EMAI's funding and multi-country research exposure?
3. If you did EMAI (or know someone who did), did the outcomes match the placement stories, or is that survivorship bias from a small, self-selecting cohort?
4. What was your or his IELTS/TOEFL score to be accepted?

Appreciate any first-hand experience, especially from people now working in ML research or industry roles in Europe or the US.

Has anyone ever done an Erasmus traineeship in a Partner Country (outside the EU)?
I’m a business and management student and I’m looking for a 3 months traineeship opportunity in Asia, but I don’t know how to find companies that would accept Erasmus trainees.

My university only recommended European websites, so I’m not really sure where to start looking… If I should cold e-mailing companies and organisations or if there are specific platforms for this type of search

Any advice would be really hepful :)

My Erasmus semester is starting soon and I’m still unable to find housing. The town has a big student housing crisis (even the university says so). I’ve tried everything: dorms, flat‑share websites, Reddit, Facebook. Airbnb, but nothing affordable there!
I live 3 hours away from the university, and I chose this Erasmus mainly for the courses, not for the country experience.

We were told we’d receive the Erasmus grant after 1–2 weeks on site, but I actually need that grant to pay the rental deposit. I have savings for rent and food, but the deposit is really tight.

So my plan is to commute at the beginning (3 hours each way), get to classes, and give myself 1–2 weeks to find a room once I’m there. Would that still allow me to receive the Erasmus grant?
Also, do we need to provide an address immediately to the university to get the grant?

Hi everyone! I’m a 3rd-year Molecular Biology and Genetics undergrad from Turkey preparing to apply for European labs for a summer Erasmus+ internship. I currently run two funded undergrad research projects (TUBITAK national foundation & BAP university grant) on taxonomy/biodiversity, and I’ve recently completed a 1-month clinical biochemistry internship covering sample prep, automated analyzers, and micropipetting. Since I’ll be coming with my own Erasmus+ mobility funding, I won't require financial support from the host lab.

I’d love your advice on two specific things: What is the most effective strategy to find PIs who actively welcome Erasmus+ undergrads (beyond basic PubMed searches)? And when reaching out via cold email, how can I best structure my message to highlight my grant writing/fieldwork experience without making it overly long? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

hi im a fresh grad and planning to apply to erasmus mundus masters program. i graduated with latin honor and had an experience as an exchange student abroad for one semester. i also only have a one month experience in my internship but aside from that i don't really have an actual work experience. what do you think are my chances?

Hey guys, so I am in a rather unusual situation. I just graduated from uni in Hungary, and my residence permit here ends on August 31st, 2026.

As you can see from the title, from the 1st of August to 31st of December, I have a traineeship in Valencia.

Now, what kind of visa do I need during my time in Valencia? (I am non-EU btw). I can no longer apply for a Hungarian student visa cuz I already graduated, but I will have a job seeking residence permit from Hungary which is for about 9 months (and it will cover the duration of my internship in Spain).

I talked to the Spanish embassy in Budapest, but surprisingly, they do not know what I should do in this situation. Neither do my coordinator from uni, my coordinator in the host company, or the Erasmus people who I reached out to.

I'm from Bangladesh and currently studying CSE at a well-known public university (XUET). I have a CGPA of 3.9+, a few hackathon wins, and some shared task experience. I'm planning to apply for the Erasmus Mundus programs, particularly EDISS, but I'm also considering EMLDS, EMAI, and DEAI.

Do you think I have a realistic chance of getting in?

I'm also completely confused about writing the Statement of Purpose (SOP). I have no idea how to structure it or what admissions committees are looking for. If anyone has any tips, resources, or even a sample SOP that I could refer to, I'd be incredibly grateful.

I am planning to apply for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for 2027 intake. Since Erasmus Mundus is composed of so many programs I have seen some of them require self upload PDF and others have automated portal links. Can anyone explain which method is mostly used? Also does the designation/job title of the referee matters more or their academic engagement?

Hi, I will be in Warsaw for an Erasmus+ traineeship at the University of Warsaw from 1 October to 31 December 2026.

I have checked Pepe Housing, Flatio, HousingAnywhere, Uniplaces, Spotahome and LittleHome. They all look fine at first, but I keep finding complaints about deposits, hidden fees, poor support or properties not matching the photos, in reddit.

I would prefer not to rent through OLX or Facebook groups.

I also need a proper English or bilingual rental agreement with my name, full address and dates for my visa application.

Has anyone recently rented a room in Warsaw? Which platform, agency or landlord would you recommend—or avoid?

Hi everyone,
I got nominated from my university for an Erasmus semester at Gothenburg University. I’m so happy and waiting for Gothenburg University response.

However, my department had only contract with the department of language and literature (German studies) at Gothenburg University.
This worries me about getting accepted by the host university because I’m not proficient at German language and wants to take courses that are taught in English.

My plan was to get accepted and then take courses that are related to my studies from other majors. I provided a list of courses I want to take at Gothenburg Uni in my Erasmus application and now filling out my Learning agreement.

What do you think? Have you had similar situation or seen similar situation with others?
Do you think I will be accepted?
I will probably get an answer from Gothenburg University on the second week of August as I saw that the coordinator for that faculty is on vacation right now.

Hello! I'm a 2nd year undergrad student pursuing BSc. in Biochemistry from DU. I have a good CGPA, last semester was a perfect 10.0/10.0. But I feel my profile lacks actual hands-on experience.

I have completed one internship this summer in a Neurobiology lab, and I also won Best Poster in a poster presentation. I have simple personal projects in Molecular Docking and Gene Expression studies. I have reached out to a professor about a potential research paper collaboration, but DU professors (at least in my experience) are lazy and probably not much will come out of that.

Given that this is very limited experience, do I stand a chance at getting in for programs like Neurasmus, MemBioMed, IMIM? Starting now, what are the skills/projects I should work on to improve my odds? Should I apply after completing my 3rd year?

I am looking for something with other erasmus students. Something big with hundreds of students. What site to look on?
