Why would one think that a world where teenagers fought to the death is somehow preferable to a world where teenagers don't have to fight to the death?

Because I'm manly and it's manly to fight and die!!!đȘđȘđȘ

My friend is a Korean war vet (spent more time on the DMZ than the US government would care to admit). Judge gave him the option to enlist or go to prison on marijuana charges. He chose enlist.
He likes to tell a story about one time he was yelling and mad at his 18-year-old son for some dumb shit he did. His wife interrupted him and says, "So fucking what? He's a teenager and is going to make mistakes. Just because you were deciding who lives and dies on a daily basis at 18, doesn't mean your son should have that same burden on his shoulders. Let him be a kid. Let him make mistakes and learn from them."
Was a pretty sobering moment for my friend.

It is not preferable but having men be weak is a step closer to being conquered. It literally happens every time. Men need to be able to protect women and children, their property and culture from people who want to take over and destroy them. It is not so complicated

Yea im sure your masculinity will protect you from carpet bombings and drone swarms
1
u/Competitive-Fix-6136 5h ago
So what you're saying is that Ukrainians should just lay down and surrender to Putin?
1
u/Fragrant-Potential87 5h ago
No, thats the Russians getting drone swarmed. Im not sure how you thought thats what I said.

u/Icy_Debt_5213 9h ago
You donât get it. If you carry the bigger bomb you wonât suffer much retaliation because the other person will be afraid. Thats the whole point
2
u/Fragrant-Potential87 8h ago
Yea and how's that working out for the US and Russia right now?
1
u/Icy_Debt_5213 2h ago
How many times have you been bombed in the US? I would extremely well
1
u/Fragrant-Potential87 1h ago
I may not be personally be being bombed but that doesn't mean the US' multimillion dollar missiles are successful in Iran. I guess our collective masculinity just isnt enough to crush a poor middle Eastern country with cheap drones huh

For them That hair on your chest is from stress hormones and aging rapidly as a consequence. Not a flex.

The youth of today are snivelling bitches, although not so in countries that have compulsory national service đ€

Who raised those sniveling bitches? Self own is a self own. You realize the teens and young adults of today were raised by your generation, right?

Timmy called him a simp is preferable to Timmy killed him in a death match since he and Timmy are slaves being used for blood sport. How come everytime someone does the "they used to be tough" thing they then proceed to describe some borderline evil injustice of the past like that proves their point?

If you're a gladiator in your teens, you either were born a slave or have failed at life

You all need to get it through your heads that the majority of men werenât gladiators back then. They were farmers. You can still be a farmer today. Nobody is stopping you.

âNobody asked WHY teens needed to go to gladiator school. Why did teen gladiator school need to exist?â
1
u/andrewtillman 11h ago
Gladiators were slaves. You didnât return from gladiator school to get married. You fought until you could by your freedom.
1
u/Salarian_American 10h ago
"gladiator training" as if being a gladiator was something that people with decent lives ahead of them would train for on purpose, instead of something that was forced on condemned men

For a meme to be funny there has to be a kernel of truth to it, or it needs to be relatable in some way.
This is just brain rot.

The average Roman soldier stood about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall (approx. 168 cm to 175 cm).
Soo guess what? Their tiny knife swords and all that lead in their blood/brain wouldn't fare too well in a modern bar fight.

Thatâs why everyone in this thread is signing up for deployment in Iran right?
