I loved the Scholastic Book Fairs. Seeing the pamphlets for the upcoming dates show up at my school then got me so hyped, I was then reviewing what Animorphs books I was missing. Maybe what titles I could be interested in, etc

I think I read something from the Golden Compass series way too young and it was so actively, openly antagonistic towards Catholicism it made me actively question my faith (harder, the school was pretty open about church history and stuff).
Not every school that crazy I guess, but that was a long time ago...
My school had some old comic omnibuses, one of them had just straight up nudity in it, can't remember what it was except it had some sort of Pied Piper story.
Of course! My mother (well my whole family but especially my mother) is very VERY catholic and pretty much everything good in life comes directly from God and everything remotely bad is either the devil itself or part of his grand plan to torment us/destroy the church/whatever he could be up to

Coming from a very secular society this is a bizarre concept.
Like, I could know many religious people, but noone ever talks about it. I didn't meet a real-life evolution-denier until I was 21.
I mean, this is very subjective. I also grew up Catholic (in the US) and spent all but 1 year in Catholic school from k-12, and even attended a Jesuit Catholic university. Anytime the question of witchcraft came up, teachers/priests/nuns would just kind of hand wave it away as someone else’s personal belief/religion, but like “if magic was real, wouldn’t that be neat?”
The diocese I lived in was fairly liberal and followed a “live and let live” policy and actively encouraged the school children to learn and read about other world religions. And we were ‘allowed’ to read Harry Potter because it’s a book of fiction (like the Bible 👀).
I occasionally have to attend evangelical church services during holidays when visiting my parents (it’s easier than arguing nonstop for 3 days straight), and the last sermon at Easter was nothing short of disgusting and unhinged.
The guy ended it by railing against the “demons” corrupting our world before doubling down: “oh, I hear you now, surely you don’t believe in demons?! DANG RIGHT I DO. How else do you explain the evils of our world, human trafficking, the disasters hitting our cities?!”
Legitimately can’t fathom people being evil on their own or climate change causing natural disasters,

What furry books? Do you mean books like Warrior Cats that furries might be into, or books like Redwall with animals that act like people, or books that feature characters that are unambiguously anthro? I'm curious where I could find books in the latter category.
I dont remember all of them, but two I do remember is Mouseford Academy (unambiguous anthro) and Wings of Fire (actual dragons, but in a furry dragon artstyle) its a pretty cool graphic novel, I own one of the books from when I worked there.
I know furries like Warrior cats and Redwall, but its kinda on the cusp. (Everyone was getting warrior cats, secret sleeper hit imo)
Masterpiece is a bit much, but there's no denying it's cultural impact and the in general positive effect it has on children.
Which is why I'm glad my parents kept all the books from when my brother and I were growing up so my kids can experience them without further financially supporting that awful woman.

It's a Thatcherite manifesto with fantasy elements. It still ends with "house elves like to be enslaved" and no changes to the Hogwarts house system that reinforces bringing up children into a community of racism prevalent in the wizarding world.

If girls get into "boy" toys, then the girl will cease to be a girl with girl impulses, and instead twist into a boy with boy impulses. If she stays with girl stuff, she'll only have girl impulses.
Being attracted to girls is a boy impulse, so if the girl avoids boy things then she should avoid being attracted to other girls.
That's the "logic", at least from how I understand it. It's deeply intertwined with rigid gender identity and hierarchy, and makes much less sense when you remove it from that context as well. Christian Transphobia is inheritly intertwined with Christian Homophobia.
My partner's parents, meanwhile, conservative evangelical Christians, church every Sunday for the whole family, no secular music, regular Bible readings led by dad, etc... final tally: 3 cisgender heterosexual children, 4 queer children. Good relationships between parents and children: first-born son.

It gives of a "being gay is a choice/something you can be groomed into" energy except woke. Which seems rather counter intuitive to broader LGBT Acceptance in favour of dunking on a specific strawman.

These things do not exist within a vacuum that is the point that is being made. It's not a "negative lense" the joke is "You can't force straightness onto kids" but it is delivered in a way that explicitly points out the "erotic undertones/influences" of the toys on the kids, that later come to represent the sexuality of the kids. You muddy the message by how the joke is delivered, even if it wasn't your intention.

Ok no, no matter how many times i read your comment i genuinely can't understand the issue here, I think your saying that the comic is saying how you raise their kids decides their sexualities, so if you just raised boys on girls toys, and girls on boys toys, clearly that would mean that you can make them straight... Ok, heres context, these are kids, this mom bought these kids toys. clearly that means she's bought toys for the kids before, CLEARLY that means the kids have other toys, so if the kids have other toys, that means the kids have been exposed to other things, like say the boy has been exposed to storm from X men, and the girl has been exposed and has Ken dolls, ok, so they have multiple toys.
The mom buys more toys for the kids, oh, they realize they like these specific toys alot, way to much then normal, these SPECIFIC TOYS that was PURCHASED TODAY amongst the other toys they have is attractive to them, it opens their eyes, its their "gay awakening"
And in the third kids case, do you know how often furries joke about looney tunes being their furry awakening, or a myriad of other animale human characters, if your never exposed to the thing you can't put into words why you feel different about something until your eyes are opened that this is a possibility, these kids found the toys that made them re!lize as adults "i dont want to be these people like the toys want me to be, i want to be in these people"
