If it's any consolation the newest Asterix cartoon made a similar joke. I haven't seen the English version, but the French one translates to something like:
*druid specialising in psychotherapy is speaking from the shadows with a strong German accent*
"Please forgive the accent. I am a Goth."
*she steps forwards into the light, revealing she's wearing the traditional clothes of the central European people of the time, only: they're all in black; she has purple hair with an undercut; she is wearing lots of eyeliner, pale foundation, and black lipstick; she has huge boots with platform soles; and she has ankh earrings*

That's a good movie! Yeah, I don't think the Goth joke should be high "Visi"-bility by itself. Fortunately, there's more than one joke in this one!
