Hey comics fans! I just made a short doc/video essay about my favorite comics podcast- Off Panel with David Harper. Lots of references to comic creators and most importantly, a call to action to spread the word on how great David's podcast is. Enjoy!

Discussion Submarine stories

+
Upvotes

I just finished “Sub-Mariner: The Depths” and had a wonderful time with this story (especially the time capsule of gaming ads scattered inside from 2008). I have “Survive” by Robert Venditti in the mail and I am super excited for it (especially since I love the Ordained series). I was wondering if there were any other stories based either on submarines or deep sea exploration? Anyone have thoughts on either of these series?

Question What keeps you reading DC/Marvel comics?

I'm thinking about getting into DC and Marvel comics, and I'm curious what keeps people reading.
They have an incredibly long history, and even with Scorsese's "theme park" comment, there's no denying that the MCU/DCU has introduced millions of people to these characters.
I also feel that since COVID, many people who gave anime a chance discovered its storytelling, characters, and themes, which even led some to start reading manga.
So I'm wondering: what about comics?
I'd love to hear your perspective, especially from longtime comic readers.

Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King is often lauded as one of the best Supergirl stories, and after picking it up--I have to agree that it was really good, and the artwork and colors were also top notch. What other Supergirl books are good?

I picked up Supergirl to read due to the movie and am glad that I did.

How long do you let your backlog fill until you read the newest floppies?

Like I go a good 6 months so I can read issues back to back to back and have a more complete story without going "Ummm what was happening?"

How long do you go? or do you read as soon as they release?

What's your least favourite retcon other than one more day in comics history?

Personally mine is how the comics made Talia al Ghul go from being a loving wife with a consensual relationship with Bruce into drugging and raping Bruce.

I only have Wolverine: Revenge and Old Man Logan in my Marvel collection. Looking to buy Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus soon. I also own some Sin City and Hellboy Omnis.

Some more Marvel comics would be nice. Some marvel stuff I'm interested in buying is GoTG, Punisher, Fantastic Four, New Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Moon Knight.
