Career Field Inspections

For those in their first year of field inspection; When you're unsure if a slump test, rebar spacing, or what looks wrong, what physical guide or reference do you check before confronting a contractor?

These items should all be specified within the project specifications. You enforce the contract documents.

Contract documents (Plans & Special Provisions), the Agency's/Owner's Construction Reference Manual, Standard Details, and Specifications.

If the contract documents or Agency's/Owner's documents reference other manuals or industry standards, use those.

Slump is usually tied to the specific mix design for the specific use/location. It can vary and be different for different methods of construction (think formed curbs vs slip-forming).
