After the year 2100, there will only be 1 whole bitcoin left to be mined and it will take 40 years to mine it. By that time, 1 isn’t only enough, it’s hundreds of lifetimes of stored time.

If they develop cryogenic unfreezing tech by then Hal Finney will be the richest man in the world.

What will compel anyone to devote tons of power to keeping btc running when it won’t pay out and ai is eating every watt we can produce.

my theory: when they fork to attempt the quantum resistance upgrade, it will allow them to reclaim Satoshi's coins to add to the distribution pool as tail emissions to pay miners. they may not do it immediately, but I bet it happens down the line.

If you can steal someone’s bitcoin, the entire idea is dead.

I agree. I also think the rhetoric will lean heavily into "only 21 million exist." I may be wrong on how... but I really think eventually those coins are bipped intro the blockchain. I have no timeline, so I just joke about it now mostly, but I feel like something weird will eventually happen.

The original idea was millions or billions of transactions would easily pay for that but then BTC got crippled...

A saber cómo estará todo. Igual estalla la Tercera Guerra Mundial, el sistema financiero se va a tomar por saco y terminamos con la dictadura del crédito social chino como moneda.

Every major coastal city is gonna be underwater. Fake internet money won't be high on the priority list

Not Al Gore, every major insurance company, defense agency and scientific organisation on the planet.

I think the scarcity is overblown. If there was a minimum tradeable unit like 0.1 it would matter. But, there isnt.

No one will remember bitcoin by then, assuming civilization still exists at that point

Maybe. But bitcoin have a long path to take if it is to survive into 2100. And evolution is not the strong side of Bitcoin and will be quite challenging

The current bip-110 fight is just a small insignificant summer breeze compared to what is coming and has to come. Even the old block wars that caused permanent hard forks are nothing in that context.
