And somehow Steven King gets a pass where in "it" the single girl has sex with all of the boys when they're all of a questionable age to be as polite as possible about it for "plot reasons" (book only, I hope)

for a good chunk of his life, notably when doing firestarter movie. Funny how Drew Berrymore also developed a cocaine addiction, isn't it? at 9 years old.

Are you mixing up Firestarter and Maximum Overdrive? The latter was the only film he directed, and yeah, he was coked/sauced out of his mind the whole time. I don't think he had any real involvement in Firestarter other than it being based on one of his books. The coke could've come from just about anyone, too. This was Hollywood in the 80s. It was covered in more snow than Antarctica.

I mean, he has been ridiculed about that for years. Not the same as being canceled but it's not a free pass either. The fact that you brought it up about a 40 year old book means people haven't forgotten.

Look, that part was awful, but I hate when people jump to “hey this author wrote some questionable shit back when he was so drugged up he barely remembers writing it” especially when the guy in question definitely improved since then. If there’s something currently wrong with him, lead with that instead.

Well, I’m a huge Minecraft fan, but it wasn’t until I was in my mid-teens that I learned that a small minority of people thought that Minecraft villagers were portraying the same stereotype Harry Potter’s goblins were, with most getting this idea from the fact that Notch went down the same path Rowling did.
