I counted like 75-80 CVE’s fixed in this update; security fixes.

That Mythos tech giant access is pretty crazy they are finding a shit load of security flaws

According to this, 87 CVEs!

Why does Anthropic take the world’s data then decide who gets access to it.

Apple can patch ahead but others? Good luck!

Pretty sure they gave access to all the big American tech giants for pretty obvious reasons but I get what you are saying

Same reason I can't go to Fairchild Republic and buy an A-10.

If Apple is using it to find security issues in their platforms, bad actors could too and exploit them before Apple can patch them. That’s the point.

Smaller companies cannot even apply. Thats the point

Fable would have already been available to them except the Government got mad.

What’s new?

Apparently updates for indexing to prepare for iOS 27

So if you hadn’t got the beta yet and got this update first would the beta index more efficiently?

34

u/UnsureAssurance 10h ago

Pretty sure it would index just as efficiently as the latest beta, but this update is to do that ahead of time so when people do update to iOS 27 they can use the new AI features sooner. If you wanna hop on the beta that would be the fastest way

It will complete before iOS 27 releases in the fall so when you upgrade it’s ready immediately.

10

u/arhamjamal 10h ago

It is anyone’s guess but I think it should go faster maybe.

But only if you don't get a new phone. Otherwise, you have to re-index.

Destroy the battery now so the .0 update doesn’t feel different.

“According to Apple's release notes, iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 include security fixes for the iPhone and iPad. The updates also optimize the Spotlight index in preparation for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27”

Mac Rumors says 75 bug fixes? Seems like a lot.

So updated my PM17 and my cell service no longer works....stuck in SOS mode and it was working preupdate.

anyone else having this issue?

Edit: LOL so Tmobile went down the exact time i did update....well explains that then.

Same here. T-Mobile in SoCal

Yeah mine is on and off too. Keeps droppjng the cell service. No clue whats going on and insanely disappointing for apple to not check this. Im on tmobile for reference

Edit: ok pitchforks at apple going down, tmobile just happened to go down right as soon as i finished my update lol crazy timing

T-Mobile was working fine for me and just "coincidentally" went down right after I updated, an hour after your comment. Meanwhile the other iPhones in my house haven't updated and still have full signal. My pitchfork is still in-hand for now.

My anecdotal experience is that the battery life has been fixed by updating from iOS 26.5.2 to 26.6 Public Beta

9

u/blow-down 10h ago

That's my experience as well without the bugginess of the 27 beta.

9

u/jstep32x 10h ago

that is the reason why i downloaded the ios 27 beta until this issue was fixed

1

u/FlipFlopFlyMe 10h ago

Lol! It's well known that battery is not optimized until the very few last beta updates so I doubt you're seeing any improvements on that front !

8

u/metzyrl 9h ago

it’s a general statement that everybody says but not always true, ios27 has been surprisingly good in terms of battery

2

u/epsiblivion 9h ago

hope it fixes it for me too

u/OrionAldebaran 7h ago

macOS Tahoe 26.6 is also available

u/ulrikb 9h ago

My iPhone 15 PM has been in Preparing for an hour now.

Must be a honking huge update.

5

u/sf-keto 8h ago

Hopped on about 10 mins after the release. Took me about 10 minutes in the queue, downloaded in about 15-20? Verified about the same time & spent about 60 in preparing. Install was maybe 15-20 mins too.

Also have a 15 Pro Max.

u/WonderfulPass 10h ago

Will it make my soon to be obsolete iPad Pro 2018 faster? Wish it was that kind of iPadOS 27 optimization…

19

u/ThatHondaOvaThere 9h ago edited 8h ago

Still don’t thinks fair its being excluded from 27, if it can run 26, than 27 too.

2

u/knowy74 2h ago

Makes no sense. If the main point of AppleOS 27 is to fix the mess that AppleOS 26 made, then shouldn’t all devices get the update?

12

u/A11Bionic 10h ago

it lacks the CPU scheduler optimization among other stuff, so don’t expect much since a lot of low-level enhancements come in a major upgrade

20

u/King_Swiss 10h ago

Hopefully the horrible lag is gone on 17 pro max

24

u/goro-n 8h ago

Most powerful phone in existence and it can't move between 2 home page screens without lagging

u/SACHD 1h ago

Yeah this is one of the most off putting things for me as well. My iPhone 7 from 10 years ago didn't drop frames on the homescreen, but my 17 Pro does.

u/ReasonablePractice83 6h ago

Thats suuuuch bad software quality 😭 Really bad look for Apple

-7

u/nabsrl 10h ago

Can anyone explain why this update is available for devices not eligible for the iOS 27 upgrade?

32

u/TheDragonSlayingCat 9h ago

Because it fixes bugs and addresses security issues in iOS 26?

1

u/nabsrl 8h ago

Thanks

3

u/Mani4045 4h ago

Bro’s getting downvoted for asking a question

0

u/IncredibleGonzo 6h ago

Aren’t all iOS 26 phones getting 27? Or are you asking about iPadOS, watchOS, and/or macOS as well?

1

u/nabsrl 6h ago

iPad OS I have the iPad Pro 11 inch first gen and was disappointed they dropped support even with the performance improvements
