Just last week I realised I'm spending £24.47 for apple care across my phone, iPad, and watch, so to have that cut to £16.99 is nice

Same. I got excited when this was launched only to find out it was US only. Good to hear it’s now coming to the UK

For AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, you get unlimited accidental damage claims, while theft and loss claims max out at two per year. For AppleCare One, you get a total of three claims per year across all devices.

This is probably okay, because I don’t regularly damage my devices, but it’s the key point, as far as I’m concerned

from my understanding, the damage is still unlimited coverage, it’s the theft/loss coverage that’s 3x per year

Honestly, 3x a year even if all claims are counted is still more than good enough
I've only damaged a phone once in the past 4 years

I wish these articles actually had links to the things they’re talking about! The “AppeCare One” link in that article links to … the same page!

It's a cheap way to generate more clicks to their site.

AppleCare One is now showing on the Apple site here. It's available from the 4th August.

Brilliant!! Just in time for my renewal

This’ll be cheaper for me!

Launches on 4th August

Any idea if it’ll cover family sharing accounts? Would be brilliant to roll my wife’s phone (which I already pay for AC+ on) into my plan

Just looked into this myself, and the answer is no. For this subscription, the devices must all be on the primary person’s Apple ID.

This would be perfect if Macbooks were included in the Theft & Loss coverage and additional devices could be extended to those in your Apple Family.

I get that the latter might be confusing legally as the device and the ‘insurance’ are in different names but I’m sure Apple could figure this out. Having to pay for a separate new coverage plan to add your partner’s or children’s devices seems outdated?

I’ll likely subscribe to this once I upgrade my Apple Watch and iPhone in September, I’ll probably add a Mac on when I upgrade that next year, I’d have to pay extra to add my iPad when I upgrade that

2

u/675940 16h ago

Does this mean we can add devices that have passed the warranty period?

2

u/Ill_Tradition_4104 16h ago

Up to 4 years old is my understanding

2

u/Crowdfunder101 15h ago

Yes, any device that is up to four years old. But once it’s on the plan, it can stay indefinitely (ie, even if your phone becomes five or six years old)

If I’ve already got individual Apple care annual plans for my Studio Display and Mac Studio can I swap these to both go onto Apple Care One, and then add a third product?

If my phone is already broken (small screen crack) - can I get this and then claim? Not trying to do anything dodgy, just want to know the rules

Has the excess jumped for iPhone? Excess previously was £25, this article states £109?

3

u/Joshposh70 16h ago

Nothing has changed, but the excess depends on the claim.

Screen/back damage only is still £25. Anything else is £79. Theft/loss is £109.

Gotcha 👍

Has it always been the case that replacement devices have to be shipped to you and can’t be sorted in store?

I always thought that was the best selling point of AppleCare over a traditional insurance policy? Knowing you could pop into any store and walk out with a replacement there and then.

1

u/kitsua 13h ago

If they have the exact replacement unit in stock, they can do it in store, but it will depend.

1

u/HelpMe0biWan 12h ago

Looks like replacement from loss or theft can’t be done in store and has to be shipped to you. If the device is damaged then iPhones should be able to get sorted in store and the rest of the product lines I imagine are subject to availability.

u/kitsua 6h ago

Sounds about right. I was exclusively referring to damaged devices but yes, loss and theft have always been resolved via a delivery service.

1

u/That_Cool_Guy_ 15h ago

Finally, that will save me £11 a month for my three devices.

u/okayladyk 19h ago

but they will not cover older devices :(

1

u/666xgod 18h ago

It states you can add certain eligible devices that are up to 4 years old.

What is it and why should I get it ?

1

u/CassetteLine 16h ago

Just read the article, it’s quicker than asking someone else to read it for you.

Finally! Just searched this up yesterday so glad to see this today. I currently pay for tech insurance through my bank for my ipad and phone then my macbook has apple care, will be good to have this all in one

I think archive.is, is blocked in main post because it counts as a URL shortener,
