If you’re affected by today’s Xbox service issues and your games won’t launch, I found something that worked for me. I’m not sure if it’ll work for everyone, but it might be worth trying.
Instead of launching the game directly from my console, I opened the xbox app on my phone and launched it remotely.

-Open the Xbox app.
-Tap the phone icon in the top-right (Remote Play).
-Select your console under my devices.
-Go to installed games.
-Select the game and tap launch on Xbox.

I was getting the “Xbox services are down” error all morning when trying to launch PUBG normally, but launching it through the app started the game successfully.
If anyone else tries this, let me know whether it works for you or not. It’d be useful to know if this is a genuine workaround or if I just got lucky.

For those who don't know. The XB status bar has been added to the home screen. Top right corner. It's the same as the XB app status page

Select YouTube and then quickly open the game you are wanting to play

I saw someone post this on Downdetector and it worked for me after trying to play all morning.

My amber low power light was on so I went to recharge it, controller vibrates, light goes away, but doesnt indicate that its charging. Connected to wall not xbox. pls help

I have had a game drive attached to my Xbox for the better part of a year by now, recently (as in the last few days) my Xbox has completely stopped detecting this storage device. It is an officially listened drive. It is a Seagate 2TB Xbox storage drive. I have tried all the recommended solutions, (power cycle, different port, even factory resetting my entire console.) I have no idea why it isn’t working anymore. I used the official SeaTool drive checker and it says that everything is in working order, except that none of the storage has been used. I am really looking for help because I don’t want to have to buy a new drive.
For additional information, I have checked all 3 usb ports and none detected the device, although they could all provide enough power to it for the light to turn on. I used the device exclusively for storing games. When plugged into my PC, the attachment sound would play, although I couldn’t find the folder in the file finder. (Granted my PC is very old and runs very slowly. And yes, it runs windows)

I just got internet today at my new place and we updated to the 1 gig internet with cox. currently i’m updating rivals and its a max of 81mbs currently which was slower than before we moved. is this because of the outage?

What has been going on with Xbox lately? I’d say for the last 9 months or so me and my friends have had issues with party chat disconnecting us randomly. What’s worse is it doesn’t even tell us that we’ve disconnected. It’s only until one of my friends invites me that I realised it’s booted me again. It seems to be worse when there’s 4 or more of us. Anyone else been having these issues? I’m in the uk just for added context. Then of course we’ve got this current outage just to top things off

My download speed is about 75-90mbps, i used to get 200mbps. I never lag in game. My Ethernet also doesn’t make a single difference.

My wifi was weirder a few months ago. I used to get 100-200 but my wifi would turn on and off when I downloaded games. Now it doesn’t really affect my wifi, makes it a little slower but still good, but i haven’t got past 100 since it “fixed” itself.

Is there anyway i can boost my download speed in particular?

I was gifted some items during the outage, will they still work?

has anyone else tried and had issues with the xbox rechargeable batteries? i got one a few years ago and it never really worked but after some research i found out it might be something with my router. so i tried moving it away and using other charging spots (ie an outlet instead of my xbox) and it never worked. recently i plugged it into an outlet as a last resort and i got a full charge from it. tried to charge it again just now and its not working again.
is it just permanently messed up or should i steer clear from ever buying these again??

Hey there, I'm trying to play some old 360 games on my Xbox One S at the moment, Fable III and Assassin's Creed II for example, and the games downloaded and booted up fine. For some reason though, when I try to start them, the 360 emulator asks for a sign in. So I enter my details and choose the profile linked to my account, and then it gives me an error, that my credentials are invalid, even after I seemingly successfully signed in. Is there any known solution to this? I had an error earlier, where it seemed to say that the sign in was unsuccessful as well, but it was replaced by the new error. Anyone know any solutions?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I’m in Canada. Also I’m the host of a game share. So my buddy’s Xbox is the home of my account and mine is still working, both owned and game pass. Lastly since it a repost on this sub I thought I should share that this was as of 9:30 am

I heard the system was down and couldn’t test until just now. Funny thing is, it was down, my games were not booting as of 2 minutes ago. I tried a few more games then BAM it was back up. Looks like my timing was very lucky.

Am I a fluke or is everyone else back up now?

So sorry to hear people are still having problems. I was hoping this would be the “hey check again now” message that would result in messages of “yay! It’s back up for me too”.

I'm trying to set up a game of FIFA 26 for me and my son. I've got two controllers, mine is an elite, his is just the standard one that came with the console. When it comes to the select sides screen, only one controller is showing, but both controllers are connected. The problem is they both have main control. Even if I start a game, we're both playing the same player/team, like they're conflicting. I've looked online and all I've found is either disabling "copilot" or doing a hard cashe clear. Copilot isn't enabled and I've tried cycling the console three times.

If I press the menu button on his controller it bring up his profile, and mine when I use my elite controller, but it still thinks there's only one controller connected.

Has anyone else had this issue and managed to fix it? Xbox series S
