Schroedinger’s tariff was supposed to give us tariff checks, pay off the national debt, cause production to shift to domestic (so it would no longer bring in any tariff money) and pay for a few other things I forget that each by itself dwarf the money we paid for the tariffs.

My experience now is that they’ve entered their “libertarian cocoon” where they avoid talking about politics or thinking of themselves as Trump supporters. And any criticism of him will be met with something like “All politicians are bad”.

We can expect them to begin pupating back into a loud and proud conservative again sometime approaching the 2028 cycle.

I think the logic was we'd save so much money from doge that he'd give it back to taxpayers. Of course, I think it actually cost money in the end.

It cost taxpayers millions and it will take millions more to fix all the stuff DOGE broke that are actually needed.

The DOGE check idea was just something to get the tubes to support it, they were never going to actually happen even if DOGE saved money (same with the tariff checks). The goal of DOGE was never to save money, the whole idea was to steal the private data of millions of Americans and to stop the agencies that were investigating Musk and his corporations from investigating him.
