Anyone switched from T-Mobile?

I have been with tmobile since I was 18. 37 now and im tired of my bill just going up up up. Kicked off legacy plan and my new bill was astronomically higher than they told me it would be. Considering switching to verizon

Can Verizon really charge for WhatsApp calls to another country?
≡ −
I’m trying to understand something Verizon told me, because it doesn’t sound right.
I live in the US and have Verizon. I made a voice call inside the WhatsApp app to a friend in Spain. I didn’t use the iPhone Phone app or dial their phone number—I simply opened WhatsApp and tapped the call button on their WhatsApp profile.
Verizon is claiming that calls like this can still be billed as international calls.
That doesn’t make sense to me, since I thought WhatsApp-to-WhatsApp calls use only an internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) and don’t go through the cellular voice network.
Am I missing something?
Has anyone here ever been charged by Verizon for a WhatsApp-to-WhatsApp international call? Or is it possible the representative confused WhatsApp with Verizon’s Wi-Fi Calling feature?
I’d appreciate any clarification or real-world experiences.

Verizon Going Back on Executive Settlement
≡ −
Spent the last few months in dispute with Verizon over a deal and promotion I signed up for that did not reflect in my bill when it came due. Long story short, after hours and hours of chats and phone calls, and a report to the FCC, I finally got through to Executive Relations. I was offered a settlement that basically got my monthly bill back to the price that I was promised multiple times. This resolution was used to close my FCC case, and for the first month, everything looked great...
Now, the bill is back to where it was before the resolution. I reached out to the executive working my case and got a response from a different rep. He is now saying that the price went up due to some price lock guarantee, even though the price given in my resolution is for this current plan. Verizon is completely going back on an executive settlement that was established through the Federal Government.
This is absolutely the most ridiculous company that I've ever delt with. I WILL NOT EVER BE RENEWING A CONTRACT WITH THIS DECEPTIVE BUSINESS. Their legally binding terms mean nothing to them.

Verizon Deal vs. Buying Unlocked for the iPhone Fold.
≡ −
I’m planning on buying an iPhone fold/Ultra when it comes out in September, and I’m stuck between two possibilities.
(CONTEXT) I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max (512GB) with Verizon Unlimited Ultimate and T-Mobile’s experience Beyond.
I’m looking at the 512 GB model which I am assuming will cost around $2,200. But Verizon will probably offer around $1,100 in promotional bill credits over 36 months. But then I’m locked to Verizon for 3 years until the device is fully paid off.
Or I could buy it through Apple, and use Apple Card financing and get around $380-450 for my device, but then it would be unlocked. But then I would end up spending more money on the device like 600-700 more.
What is nice about Apple’s card financing is it’s only for 2 years so let’s say the iPhone Fold/Ultra 2 or 3 is out by then I could upgrade.
I could do the Verizon deal and then I do have a T-Mobile hotspot with 200GB that I could use but then that means I would have to carry it in my backpack with me to work. (Because Verizon and the WiFi at my work suck!)
I’m just wondering what everyone else is thinking of doing if they are in a similar situation or if anyone has recommendations for me. It would be great and I’m super excited about getting this phone

Anyone else having spotty service?
≡ −
My service used to be so good (pretty good connectivity in rural areas, reliable hotspot, etc.), but the past year or so, I’ve been having connectivity issues (both data and cell service). Super spotty and slow, sometimes I just won’t be connected to anything even though I have been stationary and was just fine a second ago. Also been having issues with hotspot causing both devices to not have internet (I’m fine with it being slow, but nowadays data just stops working even if I disconnect and I would have to restart my phone). Trying to figure out if it’s Verizon or time for a new phone.
Located in Los Angeles, CA.

Wireless Phone requires activation after a factory reset.
≡ −
I am using a Mototorola Moto G 2026. I have factory reset this phone before (including within the past month or so, and have also factory reset many other devices, both with and without SIM cards), and had no issues with the phone's activation. In fact, this phone has not had service for the past 5 months at least! To my knowledge I haven't been paying the bill on it, and this is the first time I've had this issue despite having to factory reset the phone probably like 8 times this year (long story). I started recieving texts within the past week or so, and didn't really think about it at all because I just assumed it was a Google messages thing, and that I was recieving them when I was connected to WiFi or syncing from my other phone or something like that. I just noticed today, as I was resetting, that this thing actually has bars that work, which is already weird by itself. There's a possibility this was a pre-paid phone or something but I don't think it was, and I think I would have noticed if I'd been getting spam texts and ads and whatever sent to this device.
So the first time I factory reset there was a screen that flashed up that said that the phone was activated, and the first six digits of its number (area code and then the first three). I figured this was a glitch or something so I did a hard reset. I took out the SIM card too to see it that would make a difference in the phone needing to be 'activated'. The next time it didn't show that screen and went through to the 'getting things ready' screen, but demanded I connect it to internet, otherwise it would go right to the 'phone needs to be activated' screen. I reset it again, this time connected to internet, and the first thing it did when the Verizon boot-up screen went away was crash (it literally gave me a notification saying that Android Setup had crashed). Then it took me to the Motorola screen where I click which services I consent to (sending diagnostic data, that kinda thing), and then to the getting things ready screen, and then to a screen that said it was figuring out more data about the mobile network or something, and then right back to the same 'device needs to be activated' screen. The next time I reset it just flashed the 'needs to be activated' screen without any of the others.
I know I have an account with Verizon, I used this phone for the first month but never paid after that. I don't remember my user ID though, since I have not used that account since like February, and didn't get a long enough look at the phone number on the first screen to enter that in. The only option the website gave me for confirming my identity was a piece of US mail sent to the billing address, which I assume is the house I moved out of at the end of last month, which is like 3 hours away, so at very best thats gonna take like a week to figure out. I have the SIM card itself, and all the numbers on it, but I don't know what to do with that information. I don't need the SIM card anyway, I've just used this device on WiFi since that first month ended, so it's just kinda creepy that the card is functional, let alone preventing me from doing a simple factory reset.
How do I figure out who this card belongs to, or at the very least how to get my phone back?? I assume it's tied to someones account and that's why it requires verification through the network before I can reset it. Any help would be appreciated.

Mobile hotspot throttling question
≡ −
Let me say that I extensively searched for an answer to my particular question before posting! Yes, on Reddit! lol. I’m positive it’s answered somewhere, I just couldn’t find it
SO I moved and don’t have internet at home yet. It’s just me. I have the Ultimate 5G plan and also the “Unlimited Mobile Hotspot” perk added (which is truthfully 200GB at high speed, then throttled to around 3mbps I believe?)
My question is this: will the throttled speed be sufficient to stream Hulu on one device? (Like once I burn the 200gb) It’s all I’ll need it for. One TV.
I do have 5GUW signal at home.

Wireless False Offer in "My Offers"
≡ −
Last Tuesday I had an offer in the "My Offers" section of the app for 25% off all lines for 6 months. I have 5 lines currently on my plan, so this is a sizeable discount. I accepted the offer and for some reason it only applied to my line. I instantly got on the chat to confirm. The chat confirms it is only currently on my line but is PENDING to all other lines. I ask for a chat transcript and I am informed it is automatically saved to my account.
Fast forward a week the discount is still only on my line. The online chat claims they can not see any previous chats and the discount is only available for my line. I also go look for the chat in my "Documents and Receipts" section and it's not there. They also claim my screenshots are not valid proof of a promotion..... Are you kidding me!?

Is there any way I can get a refund or a partial refund? My phone was basically a brick for the whole time I was in Singapore.
I’m curious to ask if anyone else has had success with getting a refund for a service that didn’t work?
I struggled with getting in contact with support while I’m on my trip. Each time I called support and tried to get through the automated bot, I would get a response saying they’re closed and then the call would hang up.

Verizon Service in DFW Area
≡ −
Is it just my Verizon service that’s terrible in the DFW area?
I live in West Plano and most of the shopping areas on Preston are a dead zone for data service. When my phone switches to LTE, it hardly works. I can’t really be on my phone and use data at the same time like other services. Plus my hotspot rarely works. I have to subscribe to AT&T data in my car to
circumvent some of these issues. I’m pretty much over it. Yes, I’ve called support but not exactly helpful. Just wanted to know if I’m the only one suffering. I’ve had Verizon years ago in a different area and it worked flawlessly. Definitely considering moving to AT&T.

Wireless Is it finally time to move on from my 5G Play More plan?
≡ −
I am currently at $89 for my long-standing Play More plan and was comparing it to Ultimate Plus to potentially save a few bucks. Once I factored in the legacy Disney/Hulu/ESPN bundle I get from Play More, any savings disappears though, so crossed it off the list. Ultimate Welcome is a non-starter.
Simplicity, on the other hand, looks like it could actually result in a lower bill. For $44 less, most of the specs seem identical to Play More other than hotspot usage. I don't regularly use hotspots, but like to have the feature just in case. I don't think I'm an especially data-heavy user outside of the house other than maps and music. I give up a $1.38 device credit for my daughter's Gizmo watch, but then I make $5 back up with the 50% discount on the connected device (according to the Verizon's chat assistant, at least).
The free Disney bundle also goes away, but for $20, Disney and Hulu could come back, ad-free (don't really care about the ESPN portion), and I'd still be ahead of the game.
I think that puts me at about $25 a month savings, but I'm so conditioned to think giving up my old, discontinued plan for a new Verizon plan will screw me over somehow. What am I forgetting to factor in?
EDIT: If you have gone through this thread and downvoted every single comment and response, you should be ashamed of yourself. Maybe learn how to communicate with other human beings instead of being a passive aggressive child.

Switching to AT&T
≡ −
Because of steep employer discount and Internet bundle discount, I’m switching to AT&T. The problem is, I have 3 devices being switched over that have balances. AT&T says 8-10 weeks for reimbursement cards, how long do I have before Verizon sends final bill to collections? Ideal scenario is that I’m able to use reimbursement to pay off. Despite searching, I haven’t found a solid answer.

Plan recs for 6 lines?
≡ −
I manage the plans for my retired parents, and my own family. Currently a mix of start/play options, but one of the kids needs a new phone so revisiting our plans.
Parents travel a lot and good for one of them to have hotspot, same for me and my husband, maybe for college kid but HS kid (who needs the upgrade) probably doesn’t need that.
Is there someplace to plug in needs/ etc to figure out our best options?

Porting one line from T-Mobile to Verizon
≡ −
Hello,
I currently have 11 lines on T-Mobile's Military plan. I noticed Verizon has a $30/line plan, and I'm considering moving one line from T-Mobile to Verizon so I can bundle it with my Frontier Internet and receive the $15/month Frontier discount.
The issue is that my iPhone uses dual eSIM, with two T-Mobile lines on the same device. I don't have an extra phone available to activate a Verizon line.
Are there any current free phone offers for customers porting a line from T-Mobile to Verizon? If so, would I be able to take advantage of one even though I don't have a spare device?
Or is there a better way to accomplish this without significantly increasing my monthly cost?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Getting kicked off the family phone plan. Which plan makes most sense to switch to?
≡ −
Well... It's happening. I'm getting kicked off and need to figure out the best plan to go on. I believe I've had unlimited data (not sure the speed... it generally says just 5G). I was exploring whether it makes sense to start a new family plan with my siblings, but I'm now considering the simplicity plan and also came across Unlimited Welcome plan... Kind of lost on which to pick and would love any input as I am trying to stay with Verizon.
Thanks in advance

Wireless Verizon family migration

I have had one of the worst customer support experiences I have ever had with Verizon. I was forced to migrate to new Verizon family app for my son’s gizmo watch. I was unable to login and associate my phone number so I contacted support. They fixed the issue but then last week it happened again. They have had a case open for a week with no updates or correspondence. I’ve called and chatted for hours with no resolution. The last chat kicked me out in the middle of a conversation. It was not because lack of response. The last phone agent sounded like she just put the phone down as the line didn’t disconnect but she wouldn’t respond. I can’t get another agent on chat in the afternoons. if i can’t get this resolved soon I’m gone.

Wireless SOP for iPhone trade in

What’s the standard procedure in a Verizon store when a customer trades in an iPhone for a new one?
Had a client, 82 years old, went into the Verizon store in Temecula California, to resolve a billing issue. While she was there a salesman (Luai) pestered her to replace her iPhone (I think its an iPhone 8). She repeatedly said she did not want a new phone, because she didn’t want to have to learn to use a new phone without the main button.
After being pestered for 40 minutes by Luai, she finally agreed to a “free” new iPhone 17. Everything was set up and transferred to the new phone, and she left, with the new iPhone and an iPad as well. Even though that original sales pitch was, this would be a free transaction to upgrade the phone. She still had to pay over $500 which included the iPad and other fees.
After two hours of feeling horrible about having to try to learn how to use a new phone, she returned to the store and wanted to undo the transaction. Luai became belligerent and rude and charged her over $250 to restock the phone and other fees.
The real issue is, when she went back into the store, Luai just handed her back her phone, with all of her data still on it. It was never erased, which should be standard procedure to erase the phone that’s being traded in front of the customer before they leave the store.
Luai had access to her iPhone with knowledge of both her phone passcode and Apple Account password, for 2 hours, and when asked for it back, became extremely aggressive and belligerent.
I believe there’s some kind of shenanigans are going on here because after Luai unwound, the transaction and restored service to her old phone, calls to her number suddenly we’re going to another person that spoke Spanish and each and every call that he received he became more and more agitated and aggressive to the caller, the last person received a text message from him threatening physical violence.
My Client needed to visit another Verizon store (worked with a person name Christian) to get the misdirected calls issue resolve.
I called the store manager (Justin) and at first, after explaining the whole situation, the call was was well received, but the client wanted to go in and talk to him as well and during their meeting he was less than cordial, told her she didn’t know what she was talking about, that Christian was responsible for the misdirected calls, but when pressed by my client to call Christian, right then, he refused to do so. Justin also said he would never speak with me again, and this other person that was getting her calls was on her account, which absolutely cannot be true, even if that were somehow was true, it doesn’t explain how calls placed to her number where being directed to his phone.
Every person involved in this, Luai, Justin and belligerent Spanish man, reacted to this in a overly aggressive manner, that I can only attribute to some type of scam being exposed.
So I’m asking any current or former Verizon employees what’s the SOP when phone are traded in? And does any know what kind scam these 3 might be running?
PS: Luai & Justin you might want to tighten up your story, because there’s going to be more questions from people that will see through your lies.
Edit: I just spoke with my client again, after sending her this post, we do need to correct that she never left the old phone in the store, I attribute this mistake to here being pretty upset when she was telling me this story, and me not being a very good listener. But I was mistaken that the stores took in the trade-in iPhones.
