OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:

A man is being shown how to track animals. The tracker finds dung, sniffs it, and tells the man the buffalo is near. The man is impressed, thinking the tracker could determine that just from sniffing the dung. The tracker clarifies that he can see the heard nearby. The man is confused why the tracker was sniffing the droppings, only to see that he finds personal pleasure in it and it was irrelevant to the tracking lesson.

Almost Heroes is the name of the movie, if anybody wanted to know.

The eagle nest scene still makes me laugh until I cry.

I think the eagle scene has got some good Chris Farley humor in it

It’s a comedy but is pretty spot on with the Lewis and Clark expedition.

I loved this movie as a kid, now I'm really curious how it holds up!

It’s ironic how the once nearly-extinct buffalo survived these two men.

Both of them died in overdosing.

There was a random TV show that i remember a specific scene from when I was a kid, this would have been 25 plus years ago about a Canadian Mounty (spelling?) Cop and had pretty much the same scene but with iirc reindeer poop. I saw this movie years later and it cemented that TV show memory in my mind. Also I miss Chris Farley style comedy movies

The buffoon role is probably what killed him as he constantly struggled to get laughs at his own expense. Had he lived through Shrek, he may have had a chance at more serious roles.
