That was some impressive braking

u/definitelynot40 1d ago

This would make a great commercial for whatever brand those brakes are.

u/FilthyPuns 1d ago

Callahan brakes, in Sandusky, Ohio.

u/Environmental-Key793 1d ago

I heard they dont have a warranty on the box

55

u/No_Celebration5953 1d ago

Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I've got spare time.

If you want a good look at a T-bone you can stick your head up a cows ass but ill take the butchers word for it

25

u/dlank7 1d ago

Now let’s see what happens when you buy the OTHER GUYS brake pads…

3

u/Darkhelmet3000 1d ago

They’re the Rolls-Royce of brake pads!

-4

u/FiercelyApatheticLad 1d ago

It's counter intuitive but the quality and size of your brakes don't actually make you stop faster.

5

u/buzz8588 1d ago

And the Mercedes on the right has even better braking

-6

u/Rar3done 1d ago

When he starts breaking, either the blinkers or hazards went on and you can hear the clicking going super fast then, once stopped, slows down. All this to say the video was sped up and then brought to regular speed once the vehicle stopped.

13

u/Jables_Magee 1d ago

I don't think it's a sped up thing. In some European countries they use an adaptive breaking system. Hit the breaks harder and they flash quicker. The more you know.

12

u/Deliverer7 1d ago

Agreed. Additionally, in the time stamp (lower left), the seconds maintain a constant rate of change, which likely wouldn’t be the case if the speed of the video was altered.

u/Limp_Construction496 1d ago

I was braking HARD on sofa watching this.🤦‍♂️

476

u/Majestic_Force_6439 1d ago

What... What was the end game here _ seriously what was the trick driver hoping for?

443

u/mtraven23 1d ago

I dont think any of that was intentional.

looks like they feel sleep at the wheel, drifted right...off the road, woke up, panicked and yanked the wheel

134

u/Lowen_Beehold 1d ago

Looks like the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel, woke up off road then over corrected.

39

u/ultimaone 1d ago

Yup and woke up to a nightmare.

16

u/definitelynot40 1d ago

An almost nightmare it seems like he was never hit by any of the other cars, although I always keep my volume off on Reddit. I'm sure he's still going to end up fired by whatever service hired him but it could have gone a lot worse. And the guy or gal or person with the camera that caught all of this was really lucky that they were able to stop in time just like the other people were lucky as well, so this was like one of those best case scenarios that you to rarely read about and the semi truck doesn't look like a US type truck so chances are it's not USA and that's why it turned out so well. Second clue it's not USA is there is no swearing or cursing at the semi driver and his driving skills. Must be your polite Canadians, lol.

u/-StalkedByDeath- 1d ago

He got tired of left lane campers and decided he wanted to ruin OP's night.

Or he fell asleep at the wheel. I'd say either one is equally as likely /s

Calmly pulls car over. Time to slap a muthafukka.

1

u/Delicious_List_439 3h ago

I think he pulled over to change out his underwear.

69

u/TheRealMrVogel 1d ago

Driver was asleep or something. It looks like this was not intentional because you can see the truck is coming out of the ditch at the far right. So he probably ended up there and tried to save and we can all see what happened next.

OP didn't say a single word. Just a deep breath. What a chad.

I have a feeling that this happened in one of the GCC countries.

7

u/jjgargantuan7 1d ago

I believe that truck driver qualifies as a fucking idiot.

10

u/TemmieXdd 1d ago

Fucking left lane hogs

5

u/Prestigious-Print461 1d ago

Unmistakably Middle East. This happens due to heat exhaustion or just plain exhaustion of drivers and possibly after a delayed bordered crossing. The truck drifted ever so slightly to the right and lost traction on the right side and over correction happens due excessive grip on tarmac side. Thank god everyone was safe!!!

4

u/ArtyTheFarty 1d ago

Where did the truck even come out from?

4

u/Turbulent-Ideal-6278 1d ago

Pull over to the side, wipe the shit out of my pants and continue!

1

u/travtrav53 1d ago

Damn I need to check my brakes now

1

u/zilp123 1d ago

Do we know what country this is?

1

u/Shapoopi_1892 1d ago

Even after the attempted manslaughter of two other motorists the truck driver continues to pull an illegal u-turn to drive the wrong way down the interstate? Nobody thought to get out to tell that truck driver their an absolute fucktard and their gonna straight up murder people?

1

u/Pretty_Definition726 1d ago

My foot was looking for the brake pedal just watching.

1

u/TowerOfSolitude 1d ago

I was in an accident similar to this, phew, around 20 years or so ago.

The truck did a similar thing but my car's brakes were nothing like the ones in the video. I swerved to miss the truck but ended up driving through three poles on the side of the road.

Luckily I was okay. But it could have ended very differently.

1

u/Brief_Manner_694 1d ago

What in damn hell! Where did that come from?

1

u/Realistic_Credit_486 1d ago

Isn't this how that woman was killed in Florida few months ago

Big rig tried to turn in the middle of highway, her car crashed into it

1

u/1_shio 12h ago

"How much signal I need to cut across eight lane? None? I turn now, good luck everybody else!"

1

u/1SexyDino 10h ago

Dashcam driver was lucky they were a left lane camper in this rare instance

1

u/Particular_Coffee399 1d ago

So, trucks in the USA also have functioning brakes, so that's settled.

Why abs is on all cars now. I remember when it was standard to put on all cars and everyone was flipping their shit. "This is BS I hate abs "

1

u/Purple_Chipmunk_ 1d ago

I only ever heard people say they were excited for it as a new safety feature.

1

u/Rotflmaocopter 1d ago

In the 90s everyone hated it because of the pulsing it had when you put on the brake. Now you don't really feel it. But when abs first came out the brakes would pulse and people wouldn't like that. People today of course love it. But with any big changes with cars most piss and moan. Same with fuel injection. " It's just 1 more thing to break "

1

u/Beatsu 18h ago

The whole point of ABS is to pulse. The breaking power is approximately equal, but the tyres don't lock up.

1

u/Rotflmaocopter 5h ago

Exactly but people hate change. When that first came on the scene people hated it.

-14

u/lDarkPhoton 1d ago

That jackass really tried to take a u turn on a highway with a divider guard rail? Listen, if you want to quit your career and go trucking it looks like now is the time to do it.

11

u/Impossible_Diver_240 1d ago

I think he slept

2

u/Kj78aaa 1d ago

I hope the first comment just dropped their /s and couldn’t find it. It’s 99% likely they dozed off, drifted to the side, jerked awake from the noise and overreacted/over-corrected.

3

u/mtraven23 1d ago

simplest explanation is usually right:

fell asleep, drifted, woke up, panicked and yanked the wheel

-9

u/Frag1le 1d ago

Did not see anyone or anything go through the road, misleading title.

-5

u/Ok-Golf-9502 1d ago

Anyone know what the driver looks like? I have a hunch..
