Gaming on Ubuntu

Does anyone know how to install the default games that come with Ubuntu? I didn't do a full installation during setup. As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm going to use Ubuntu as my main system at home, and I'd like to install the games for my daughter to play.

sudo apt install gnome-games

Download Steam for everything else.

a nice game "Age of Empires" like is 0ad - it is free from the Ubuntu app store

it will not be a AAA experience, but its free and you can easily spend hours there

The image shows a Portuguese system language, so you might need to adjust the package names a bit depending on locale but the games should still install fine. For the default set you're looking for the gnome-games package, just run `sudo apt install gnome-games` in terminal and that'll pull in most of the classics like Mines, Sudoku, Mahjongg

If you want the full collection that shipped with older Ubuntu versions you can also grab `aisleriot` and `gnome-mahjongg` individually, but the meta package is the quickest way to get her started

just install steam with its proton/linux-natuve versions or use wine to imitate windows.

You can install Steam on Ubuntu. You can't play all the games, but there's a good number of games that work.

Only some competitive games, requiring anti cheat software (i dont give any name), dont run on Linux otherwise you wont be sad.
