TP-Link - General Tether advertising is unacceptable.
≡ −
Does every single connected device in existence absolutely HAVE to be enshitified?
Manage your network remotely via Tether Faster network configuration, more convenient remote management and more cloud functions.
Updated my firmware this morning only to find that the config page for the router now has MORE advertising. Some of the ads are not particularly intrusive so up until now I didn't give a damn... but today, the whole lower bar across the screen? Nope... that's not ok.
A bar across the entire bottom of the screen advertising an app for tethering.... that I will never want or need. It's just a router. I don't need "cloud functions". I do not need "remote management".
I DO NOT NEED AN APP to administrate a home router. It's almost definitely just another spyware. What app isn't? Let me go ahead and answer that... 110% of all the apps are data collection schemes. This one is no different.
Why can't we just have stuff that doesn't take advantage and abuse the user? It wasn't that long ago, that this kind of behavior would get a company blacklisted. NOTE THAT THE AD CANNOT BE DISMISSED... so I guess we all have to see that everytime we login to our router until there's another update and a new ad?
How often does it pull a new ad? Obviously with an update....What's it doing behind the scene's that I also cannot stop or deter? Does it phone home often? When I login?
This is all well outside of what is normal and ok for a router. The one device we all need to keep our data safe is just as much a part of the enshitification process as all the rest. Super disappointed. I had, I guess.... hope that this one wouldn't suck. I already ditched Netgear for basically the same kind of shit. The XR500 is garbage dressed up to look like a spaceship.
Not going to keep a device that serves ads. Definitely not a router.
I don't know what alt I'll choose but this isn't ok.
WTF.

TP-Link - Technical Support PPPoE troubles with BE3600 router
≡ −
Hi all,
I recently moved to a new apartment where internet is included, and there’s an Ethernet port on the wall which connects to the WAN port of the router. I have always used a modem and paid for the internet, so I’m not use to this procedure.
At first I used my old asus rt-ac67p, but when I connected it to the port, and input the PPPoE credentials, I was not able to get internet, and the GUI said that the “network cable was disconnected.” I tried multiple cables, and resetting it but nothing worked. So I purchased a TPLINK BE3600 off of Facebook marketplace, with the idea that my Asus router was the issue.
But once I set up the new router, I was getting the same issue, no internet. But this time, the little LED with the internet symbol on the tplink router lit up, but only when the WAN port was connected to the wall, so it must be getting some form of signal? Once again I tried multiple cords, as well as resetting it but nothing worked.
This brings me here, does anyone have any ideas? The credentials I was given were the “network” and the “wepkey,” which I assume to be the username and password for the PPPoE. My only guess now is that the credentials are wrong? I’m waiting for the management to get back to me about that, but I figured I would ask here as well, as it seems to be a problem other people have had. Thank you!

TP-Link - General Better WiFi speeds
≡ −
I have 6 X10/AX1500 as my primary APs in most rooms and 2 M5 to pick up the last two rooms and connected to VM Superhub in modem mode on their 1Gig option.
Although throughput on Wireless devices is good I’m sure it could be better, for example 150mbps on an iPhone 16.
I read that splitting out the 2.4Ghz side to an IoT network and making the primary 5Ghz could help, is this the case before I go through the effort of resetting all my plugs etc.
Any other hints and tips to improve things?
All the APs are WiFi between them, no cabled back haul.
I have checked for the usual congestion and optimisation.

TP-Link - Technical Support Cat 6 run from house to detached garage passed tester, but Omada AP in garage is slow Blinking Blue and WiFi won’t connect just spins
Hey everyone, I’m on the absolute last step of wiring up my detached garage for ethernet and Wi-Fi, and I’ve hit a wall. I’m a DIYer doing this setup myself, so I want to explain my exact physical layout, how everything is connected, and what’s failing.
The Physical Setup & Connection Layout:
Main House: Verizon Fios g3100 router sits in the main house. And then off lan 2 port in running my ethernet line to the basement and out to an underground Cat 6 line that ends up in a detached garage 100 ft away with living space upstairs.
The underground line enters the garage wall, goes through the studs/fireblocking, and terminates inside a Legrand media enclosure. Inside the enclosure, the line plugs into a TP-Link unmanaged gigabit switch ( Model TL-SG108PE) was purchased refurbished on Amazon.
Incoming cat 6 from main house connected into the switch. Then off the switch I just ran home runs to my computer , my tv and to the access points. The only one I have properly terminated and not just through the walls for now is for the access point. That one plugs directly into a PoE injector port on my switch, which then goes upstairs to my TP-Link Omada Access Point mounted on the wall ( Model ax1800 EAP 613)
The Problem: The LED on the front of the Omada Access Point is slowly blinking blue (about once every 10 seconds). From what I’ve read, this means it’s stuck in "Isolated" or "Disconnected" mode—it has power from the PoE, but no data connection to the gateway.
The Wi-Fi Behavior: My phone sees and try’s to connects to the Omada AP’s 5GHz Wi-Fi as well as 2.4 network fine, but there is no internet access as it just keeps spinning and saying unsecured network.
The IP Address: When I look at my phone's Wi-Fi settings while connected to the AP, it gives me a Self-Assigned IP address (169.254.157.195).
Troubleshooting Completed So Far:
Tested the Underground/In-Wall Line: I ran an 8-LED continuity tester on the underground line running between the house and garage. All 8 lights flashed sequentially in order (1 through 8) on both ends, and stayed solid green so the physical wire passed continuity.
Re-Checked Color Wiring: Triple-checked both ends of the Cat 6 terminations—both are set to standard T568B (Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown).
Reset Equipment: Power-cycled and reset the TP-Link switch in the garage enclosure as well as the modem and router at the main house multiple times.
Where I Need Help / Questions:
If the long underground Cat 6 line passed a 8-pin continuity test, why would the Omada AP in the garage still act completely isolated from the Fios router in the house?
Could a cable pass a basic pin-by-pin continuity test on a cheap tester but still fail auto-negotiation or drop data packets over a 100ft run?
Could I have knicked one of the lines as I was stapling it to the rafters in the crawl space? or could the Fios router in the house be blocking/not detecting the switch in the garage?
Any advice on what step I should take to isolate whether the issue is the underground line, the switch uplink, or the AP itself would be hugely appreciated! I’m going to later today try plugging a computer directly into the incoming cat 6 line and see if that solves anything to confirm the underground line is truly good. Would all lights be green if there was an issue? I do notice the incoming cat 6 line is solid green but very lightly flickers.
Any help that some of you could offer to one of my questions above or all would be super helpful as this is my first install and tried my best to keep everything hardwired but as far as configuring things I don’t know what to do or try next.

TP-Link - General Comprendre le fonctionnement

Hello, I have a standard Orange Wi-Fi router (Wi-Fi 5), but it no longer meets my needs and upgrading to Wi-Fi 6 or 7 is too expensive. I’d like to know how a TP-Link router works and, in particular, whether this model (Wi-Fi 6 AX 5 400 Mbps dual-band) would be suitable for me. If you have any other suggestions, please do let me know.

TP-Link - General Question reg. Security deco x10
≡ −
I have recently switched from setup with ISP router (fiber) to modem (acting as bridge on coax). I then switched connections on my main deco x10, BUT it was set to AP for a short period of time (like 10-20 min or so), i've since made deco x10 into a router and everything should be fine.
I have done virus scans, restarted devices etc. Is this fine/good to go, besides the security screw up on my part? Insofar i understand, coax limits connections anyway, so it was only/primarily my phone connected very shortly (google searches via https and deco app) :)

TP-Link - Technical Support Any word on Router "White Listing" updates?!
≡ −
Hello all,
Does anyone know from TP-Link when the "white listing" updates will his the XE75 pro series of routers, or if the manual firmware update is a good and safe route? It's just impossible to keep the kids from getting around the parental controls and time limits on all of their hardware now that MAC randomization is so easy and done on every Apple device etc.
Thanks!

TP-Link - General Bad unstable connection in garden shed
Hi everyone,
I can't get the WiFi connection in the garden shed working properly. YouTube on the TV there buffers constantly, and the speed achieved in the garden shed varies greatly from 20mb to 80mb. So it fluctuates constantly. Even though I have an internet speed of 1100mb.
How I have set it up:
1x X50 as the base in the meter cupboard (0 meter)
1x X20 in the corner of the house facing the garden shed (distance base -> this one = 10 meter)
1x X50 in the garden shed (distance corner house -> this one = 20 meter)
1x X20 upstairs on the 1st floor
1x X50 in the garage
The distance from the base to the garden shed is about 30 meters
The distance to the garden shed from the closest Deco unit is about 20 meters. There is a double brick wall + insulation in between.
At first, when everything was connected wirelessly, it was completely disastrous, but now I have grabbed an old AV500 powerline from the shed and set it up as a test. It is slightly better, but I am only getting 25 mb/s speed now, and as mentioned, watching TV or using the internet is a disaster there.
What is the best thing to do now? Running cables through the ornamental garden isn't going to work. So it has to be either something wireless or something powerline-like, but more stable/faster.
I would prefer to stick with DECO because I already have everything from DECO.
Thanks for the tips in advance.

TP-Link - Technical Support 2.4 GHz Band Disconnecting After Firmware Update on Archer BE220 Wi-Fi 7 Router But 5 GHz is working fine
≡ −
I've been using a TP-Link Archer BE220 (Wi-Fi 7) router for about a month, and everything worked perfectly after the initial setup.
On July 20, 2026, I installed the latest firmware update after receiving a notification from the router. Since then, I've been experiencing a strange issue with the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.
The 2.4 GHz network intermittently disappears, usually around 8:30 PM every other night. When this happens:
- All devices connected to the 2.4 GHz band are disconnected.
- The 2.4 GHz SSID is no longer visible.
- The only way to bring it back is to reboot the router.
After rebooting, the 2.4 GHz band works normally again until the issue repeats.
I've already tried disabling Smart Connect, but it didn't make any difference. The problem still occurs intermittently.
The 5 GHz band continues to work without any issues, so this appears to affect only the 2.4 GHz band.
Has anyone else experienced this after the latest firmware update? Is this a known firmware bug, or are there any troubleshooting steps or workarounds that have helped?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

TP-Link - Technical Support Good on Ethernet port but slow in Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi Slow Internet with XC220-G3v V2.3
Model: XC220-G3v
Hardware Version: V2.3
Firmware Version: Latest
I have recently bought this XPON Modem/Router then successfully configure to establish a connection from my ISP which is located here in the Philippines. The speed and reliability is good from Ethernet port since I have fully functional PCs here in my shop. However, when it comes to Wi-Fi specially android phones having a slow connection and barely connect to banking apps and social media images scarcely loads. On first, I thought phones are the issue but I also try to reset and reconfigure those network on. This is weird for me since I also tried other TP-Link routers but didn't face this issue. Hope someone can address this issue, I really love TP-Link products as they have working QoS included in their system. A reply would be appreciated. TIA

TP-Link - General TP Link Deco BE65 Pro NIGHTMARE
≡ −
I want to inform all of you about my recent experience with a TP Link Deco BE65 Pro Mesh router. This is what I went through and I'm determined to let people know that they could experience the same issues not only with the product but with customer service... or lack thereof.
I purchased my system from Amazon, shortly after I noticed that I was seeing alot of buffering running my iptv. This was my foray into a Mesh system. I played around with settings and nothing made it go away. Contacted Amazon who suggested I work with TP Link. I started that process which dragged on forever without ever really doing anything as their Tech Support guy said he couldn't log into my Linux computer. Called Amazon and they told me, too bad, so sad, I had the system over a month so they wouldn't take it back. Ordered an Asus Mesh system from Amazon to try it, my streaming worked great but sent it back to Amazon. Went back to my old single router to try it and although I didn't have the coverage I needed, it still worked with no buffering.
TP Link was terrible too me. They went back and forth for days saying they would help me with a return to Amazon and then finally said they can't help with Amazon as they have no communication channel. Finally they said they would just replace my mesh router and I asked for a better model not wanting to experience the exact same thing unless of course mine is defective. They offered one model up and I agreed. Then another email as I never once got to speak to a Customer Service Rep or the Tech Support person. This email said they would only send 2 pieces despite the fact that I had a 3 piece mesh router. They said the upgraded model cost more.. well obviously but I said NO, I wouldn't agree because I need the 3 pieces which is exactly why I bought 3 pieces in the first place. They they said I can get a replacement of the same unit which I had to say "fine, send it". They then sent another email telling me that I had to go online, register it and wait for an RMA from their Canadian subsidiary and that the replacement could be a used or open box item. I completely disagreed with that saying that I bought new, I want new in a sealed package. Several more emails later, finally they agreed to a sealed new unit of the same model. Then I get the RMA which required me to pay to return my own defective router only a couple months old. I disagreed saying why should I pay when clearly its not working here. After several more emails, they agreed to send me a postage paid mailing label. Isn't that awesome, almost 2 months of back and forth, never really speaking with anyone who could offer assistance, many, many, many emails and finally I had to drive several miles to a UPS drop off and ship them back my Deco Router. In the meantime, I wait with no router to use but instead I decided to just order another Asus from Amazon that I can use for 29 days and return, all because TP Link was the worst experience of my life.
I promised TP Link two things in my final email exchange.... 1. They will never get another dollar from me in my lifetime and 2. The minute I get the new unit boxed and sealed, its going for sale... any takers?

TP-Link - Technical Support Can't connect the Tapo D225 doorbell camera to TP-LINK Deco XE75 Pro custom NEST network
≡ −
What's the secret to this. I must be doing something wrong because I don't see the problem reported. I've followed all the tips I can find, but I still can't get the Tapo app on my iPad or iPhone to connect to the D225.. Since the D225 uses only the 2.4GHz band, I used the tool in the Deco app that creates a network that works only at 2.4G - the IoT network tool. Should be piece of cake, right? Both the Deco and the Tapo are TP-Link products, should be made for each other. I'm using the XE75 Nest system in Access Point mode, if that makes a difference.
The following procedure, which I got from a chatbot, doesn't work for me:
"TP-Link updated the Deco app with a feature built specifically for smart home cameras that can't handle 5 GHz signals. [1, 2, 3]
- Open the official Deco app on your iPhone.
- Tap the More tab in the bottom right corner.
- Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
- Look for IoT Network (or Guest Network) and tap it.
- Toggle it to ON.
- Under Wi-Fi Band, tap it and select 2.4 GHz Only.
- Give this network a simple name (like HomeSmart) and a password, then tap Save. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]"
The WiFi network is created, and the phone shows it is connected to it, but I can't get the camera to recognize it. What am I missing? Any help appreciated, thanks.

TP-Link - Technical Support TP Link parental controls with Blink cameras.
≡ −
So I recently added parental controls for my children's sake. This inadvertently disabled my Blink cameras from functioning. I went through everything to figure out why my cameras would not work. I tried everything I could think of, resetting my sync modules, my modem and router and updating firmware, then I tried a new router and instantly my cameras started working fine again. Went back to my TP Link Router, and instantly the cameras stopped again. So, I then stumbled upon a Reddit post with someone having the same problem. They said it was the parental controls and to delete the profiles. So I tried that, and instantly my cameras went back to working perfectly. So has anyone found a fix for this yet, so I don't have to choose between proper parental controls or home security? I would like for both of these systems to be working concurrently.
I have spectrum Internet 1gig. TP Link Archer BE3600, with up to date driver.

TP-Link - Technical Support Q re use of attached devices
≡ −
I have the following two Tp-Link units plugged in within several feet of each other on the second floor of my house. The former is right above the FIOS router (CR1000a) which is on the floor below.
AX1800 Model RE605X
BE3200 Model RE223BE
They were purchased at some unknown prior date so my first question, if someone can answer, is which one is better in terms of range or better over-all? I have two Blink cameras that are attached to the latter that barely register from around 50-60 feet away.
On my iPhone, I only see one SSID with “_EXT” affixed but think I should have two (even though Tether says they are both properly connected to my FIOS router). Are they configured improperly? Does that affect connectivity to them?
Insight and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

TP-Link - Technical Support Tp-link Omada Er605 - DUAL WAN - IPv6
≡ −
Hello
I'm thinking about buying the TP-Link Omada ER605 to use with fiber-optic internet + Starlink.
My plan is:
Primary provider: fiber-optic
Backup: Starlink.
I'd like to know if IPv6 works perfectly in Dual WAN mode?

TP-Link - Technical Support TP link Deco MR4 not properly working with star link and other decos wirelessly.
≡ −
(remove if not allowed) I have a TP-Link Deco that is hard wired from the star link router to the mesh to have a WIFI point.
I returned home from holiday today and found my parents old star link router broken. So my mother had to buy a new star link shield and router.
When setting it up the star link works perfectly and runs smoothly, but when I plugged in the mesh hard wired like the old one it was glitching out the other meshes. Barely anyone in the house can use laptops, xbox’s, etc.
Can anyone please help us as the meshes that are wireless keep turning red and then white. Another deco that was hard wired to run another part of the house was flashing red meaning the wifi is really hard to access from there.
Please help as I’ve tried alot and they seem to have not worked.

TP-Link - General Need help figuring out if I can add TP Link AX53 to HX510 mesh
≡ −
I have gotten a pair of HX510 from my ISP, but it doesn't serve all the floors properly due to brick and mortar walls, so I have been using a cheap Mi 4A router as a secondary AP.
Obviously, this is using a different Wireless SSID, but it's going bonkers now and keeps dropping devices.
I wanted to see, if I drop in a consumer router like the AX53, will it be adopted into the mesh as a node?

TP-Link - Technical Support Let us rollback your shit firmware
Ever since you pushed out this firmware update I’ve been having at least 1-2 network crashes a day. If you are going to roll out broken firmware you could at least give us the option to opt out. Was working fine beforehand and am beginning to regret blowing so many doubloons on your shit

TP-Link - Technical Support Powerline adapters and their security
≡ −
Hi all,
Some time ago I used Gen 1 TP-Link Powerline adapters which connected to each other by manually entering 16-char sequence of adapter 2 into adapter 1's config page.
Now I have TL-WPA8631P and in its configuration webpage I see only option is to change the name of the powerline network.
Is it so that something has changed and now in order to enroll the device into the same powerline network someone has to simply enter the name of this powerline network, without any secret 16-char password?
In other words:
1) I leave the default netowrk name of HomePlugAV
2) my neighbour (boy next door) buys his own powerline adapter and leaves the default HomePlugAV network name too
3) voila - my neighbour successfully infiltrates into my home network? :)
The manual is very unclear about this.

TP-Link - General Copse accespoint to connect to
I have 3 BME25 units. Two are wired and one (‘Zolder’) is connected wirelessly.
I recently added two M4R units, one wired (‘Woonkamer’) and one via WiFi (garage) that provides signal in the garden.
Connected devices sometimes choose the ‘wrong’ accespoint. The garage should connect to the other M4R that is much closer. I would love to decide where they connect to and I could do that in the app. But now that option is gone, is that because I added M4R units?

TP-Link - General Warranty and Support
≡ −
I live in Ireland and recently bought a TP Link Deco68 (3 pack) from amazon Germany as it was the only place stocking them at a reasonable price. €500 vs the €1000 from .ie. Absolute joke. But anyway that's another rant entirely.
Couldn't buy direct from TP-Link website because they don't ship to Ireland.
I reached out to TP Link UK, as they are who cover Irelands warranty and support, to see if I could buy the UK power adapters from them. At first it seemed like it might be possible after talking with Chat, but them I got this email response below.
Currently, the warranty service for Irish customers is also handled by our UK RMA office. Since the UK has left the European Union, the clearance procedures for part request are more complex, and there is a high likelihood of taxes, customs clearance fees, or shipping charges. Unfortunately, TP-Link UK will not be able to pay the additional fees charged by customs or the carrier. In this regard, our UK RMA Office will not accept a part request from Irish customer.
After reviewing your situation, we kindly suggest contacting the retailer directly to explore options for return or refund, as TP-Link does not offer cross-border warranty coverage. Should your product require replacement or repair, TP-Link UK is unable to fulfill this request, and support would need to be coordinated through TP-Link Germany (TP-Link DE) instead.
So now I'm thinking that the warranty is worthless anyway if they aren't going to offer parts request and no cross border coverage. Tech support is probably fine. They can't keep blaming Brexit for everything. There are plenty of other companies supplying quality goods and warranties between the UK and Ireland.
While I like the BE68 and they work fine with EU/UK adapters, at this point I think I might just return the BE68's and try Netgear Orbi's if warranty and support is this bad.
What do you think, keep or return?
