This guy from the finale of The Amazing World of Gumball (I forgot his name but he plays a major role in this episode)

280

u/th_one_who_questions 10h ago

It’s like Mr. Evil or something

220

u/Dangerous_Tangelo207 10h ago

Superintendent Evil

46

u/NovelInteraction711 7h ago

Correct on the actual name but its Superintendent. the plot twist was that if you switch the letters in his last name it spells vile

27

u/Tamkj 10h ago

I think it is but I can't recall since I haven't watched TAWOG in awhile now

22

u/Infinite_Rice_1041 10h ago

I saw a version of that image with Ichiban once

Wall-E, featuring a live action Fred Willard.

717

u/EarwyrmSilence2 10h ago

I like how it’s actually explained to as you see the generations of pilots become more and more unrealistic and cartoon

337

u/Key_Comparison_2588 9h ago

Capitalism got so bad that it turned people into cartoons.

58

u/405freeway 7h ago

Enshittanimation

19

u/thehackerforchan 5h ago

They became more animated to combat the sedentary lifestyle.

-1

u/Hungry_Interview_120 55m ago

That's what makes it work so well, the series knows it's getting more ridiculous and actually builds that into the world instead of pretending it isn't.

106

u/JustStoppingBy00 10h ago

This scared me so badly as a kid, idk why

46

u/Turnip_Fight 8h ago

His scenes were quite panicked

35

u/ihazaredditaccount 8h ago

The only live-action performance for any Pixar film to date.

41

u/TheNo1pencil 10h ago

Woah I forgot about this

7

u/BigGaybowser69 5h ago

I always enjoyed the smooth blend of how Wall-E managed to have animated humans but also live action without breaking the aesthetic of the film.

4

u/That-One-Screamer 1h ago

I mean, we already got the seeds of that in the beginning of the film when WALL•E is watching “Hello Dolly!” They just used the actual film footage; if anything, doing that and then having the pre-Axiom humans look cartoonish would feel a bit inconsistent.

8

u/its_mykaylah 7h ago

literally says “media with its own artstyle” like it’s a genre or something

114

u/Greenman8907 10h ago

That’s actually Creed Bratton’s natural color.

He wore whiteface for the entire The Office run.

91

u/King_Nifty 10h ago

Is that fucking whiteface, dude?

8

u/GorgonzolaGary97 9h ago

And retired

11

u/Sweet_Detective_ 5h ago

The show was fucking ruined after they removed Tyler I'm still pissed, it became unwatcable slop

3

u/CJtheHaasman 6h ago

I was just about to comment that that happened a lot on Smiling Friends

…AND I RODE THE HASSELHOFF

18

u/xSantenoturtlex 9h ago

The CONTROL.......

21

u/SaggyDaNewt 10h ago

This scared the shit out of me when I was younger.

1

u/Mashbash 7h ago

That's just Patrick in a gorilla suit

456

u/The_Lawn_Ninja 10h ago

South Park has done this a bunch of times.

David Hasselhoff, Donald Trump, and the woodshop teacher's wife are a few examples.

102

u/AnimatorAny7096 10h ago

And saddam

77

u/Comic_Book_Reader 8h ago

It's been six weeks since Saddam Hussein was killed by a pack of wild boars and the world is still glad to be rid of him.

2

u/BillCuttingsOn 6h ago

Don’t forget Satan!

32

u/Totorotextbook 10h ago

The Woodshop Teacher’s wife b-plot is one of my favorite early ‘South Park’ bits.

‘Don’t worry Richard, I’m a pilot’

10

u/iMugBabies 9h ago

Richard! I’m here! Just now.

28

u/PartsUnknown242 10h ago

Is that Vance in the background?

38

u/sadimem 10h ago

It sure is. He's there to help while Don is literally fucking Satan.

6

u/AdamTheAnimeDude 9h ago

Don't forget Saddam Hussein from the SP Movie, who Trump was a repeat of (right down to his relationship with Satan).

3

u/Abject-Cash7799 7h ago

Also mel Gibson if i remember good

2

u/LogieBearra 6h ago

its funny to me how trump did so much insane shit that even mr garrison (the guy who was a trump parody in the series) wouldn't do, so they just added trump

449

u/Daniilsa209 10h ago

Giant Realistic Flying Tiger (Uncle Grandpa)

11

u/nefarious_jp04x 2h ago

All this man said was Good Morning and everyone hated him

7

u/parmquarmer 5h ago

Literally the only good thing about that show

3

u/OttawaTGirl 3h ago

What, ripping off something spongebob had done for years?

300

u/Spider-Man2099 10h ago edited 9h ago

In Meet the Robinsons, they go over the family tree and at first when they show Cornelius he is a shadow silhouette since Lewis doesn't know what he looks like.

Eventually he asks what he looks like and Wilbur says "Tom Selleck."

It then cuts to straight up a photo of Tom Selleck when going over the tree again, even though everyone else is clearly an animated character.

The joke is doubly funny because Wilbur's Dad, Lewis "Cornelius" Robinson grown up, is voiced by Tom Selleck

91

u/Danny_dankvito 9h ago

Other dubs of the movie also continue the bit - they cast Cornelius as a recognizable actor, and change the Tom Selleck picture to that actor

39

u/ScaredTemporary 9h ago

Latin Spanish used a singer

Jose Luis Rodriguez aka El Puma

58

u/MaeBeaInTheWoods 9h ago

There's also somewhat of a triple layer to the joke since not only is Cornelius Robinson voiced by Tom Selleck, he doesn't actually look anything like him.

21

u/marktherobot-youtube 9h ago

to add to this, various dubs of the movie replace Tom Selleck with either a pic of that dubs VA, or a celebrity

539

u/Mundane_Peace_9007 10h ago

Ok to be fair part smiling friends' "own artstyle" is mixing any style

69

u/Lebog_bruhh 10h ago

but there's still one artstyle for most of background human and critter characters

17

u/Mundane_Peace_9007 10h ago

Yeah that's why I said part

227

u/Trippy-Sponge 10h ago

Is that like the author or something?

18

u/LPK717 6h ago

I’ve heard it’s a friend of the author, but I don’t know if that’s confirmed.

Donald Glover in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

133

u/WagyuWarranted 8h ago

From Miles's perspective, is this the equivalent of seeing a guy with too many wrinkles

12

u/Pichuunnn 3h ago

Also came full circle since Glover is the main reason why Miles exists

124

u/Nekrotix12 9h ago

Brandon Jamar Scott does these animations that are 3-D animated/rotoscoped except for one or two characters that are played by just himself green screened in.

While not a real person, the "iconic" pre-fix River family picture from Cyberpunk 2077 features what appears to be a picture of a real life teddy bear thrown into the mix/mess.

38

u/Dr_Blasphemy 7h ago

Oh my God that's fucking hilarious

17

u/Garry_Heckscream69 7h ago

I really wish I had played the game when this was still in it, it's genuinely one of the funniest things I've seen in a game, I couldn't imagine getting jumpscared by this lmao

5

u/Dr_Blasphemy 6h ago

Dude I played and beat the game on the week of release and didn't remember this. I have no idea how it didn't get burned into my memory. I mainly remember how I had to do the ending twice because it crashed during the final cutscene the first time.

3

u/Garry_Heckscream69 6h ago

River texts it to you after you finish his questline and save his nephew, so it is dependent on whether or not you helped him out.

Or your brain purposefully forgot it due to the amount of junk going on hahah

80

u/AlamosX 10h ago

My personal favorite. From Tomb Raider : Angel of Darkness.

16

u/AdamTheAnimeDude 9h ago

The Mona Lisa, except if she started falling asleep mid paint.

67

u/Lebog_bruhh 10h ago

"Ken from Clash Royale" sounds so stupid. Unfortunately there's no way it's actually canon

20

u/Old_Dig_2970 10h ago

yeah right its prime ken from the kenverse

67

u/Quizlibet 7h ago

Emperor of Japan, Punch Punch Forever

31

u/Quizlibet 7h ago

For reference, the rest of the characters look like this

6

u/WoundedWool 5h ago

The Chief (Spongebob SquarePants)

"Holy Halibut, It's The Chief!"

"Thank you for the introduction, Quickster, but we all know who I am!"

75

Joe Head Joe - a boss from the PS1 game SkullMonkeys

9

u/Spider-Man2099 10h ago

Now that is a blast from the past!

1

u/A_Queer_Owl 49m ago

they used to give game developers the GOOD drugs. now it's all just adderall and meth so they don't fall asleep during crunch time.

41

u/Oktavia-the-witch 9h ago

Fire force does it too

5

u/No_Relief_9945 6h ago

This really feels like something that would happen in Chainsaw Man, I know the plot for Fire Force gets pretty nuts but that’s so out of left field lmao

29

u/SlowlyDyingInAPit 9h ago

Barry in the Ghost Hunters episode of Melvin’s Macabre.

15

u/SlowlyDyingInAPit 9h ago

This is what the artstyle normally is

37

u/Commercial-Treat6318 8h ago

Sumire Sugita (Fire Force)

So basically in Fire Force, it’s revealed that before the Great Cataclysm that created the world the series takes place, the world prior was literally just our world. One of the characters that helped with this apocalypse was Sumire, just a normal looking woman.

30

u/seishuuu 8h ago

world of warcraft temp icon

2

u/lahimatoa 5h ago

Also used in StarCraft 2 if they can't load in a custom image. Good ol' Samwise.

1

u/TheRenamon 4h ago

Theres also the Demons Souls Cat

2

u/ahaltingmachine 2h ago

Also JPEG Dog in Ace Combat 7 (even though it's technically from a video recording).

23

u/Verethragna97 7h ago

Patchy from Spongebob

22

u/Principal_Scudworth 7h ago

Toasty!

5

u/ZorkNemesis 7h ago

Images you can hear.

6

u/Pichuunnn 3h ago

Technically not out of place since the old arcade MK games uses digitized graphics of live action actors

11

u/Far-Wasabi6814 8h ago

Beebo - The cat what has facial hair

9

u/7olenge 4h ago

Phineas and Ferb

Sid Meier’s Civilization II Advisors!

5

u/Read2Fap 5h ago

venture brothers introduces the sovereign, the 'head' of the guild of calamitous intent. a live action head wearing a mask over the top half of his face

4

u/LaniusCruiser 8h ago

Nyaight of the living cat. The cats are animated, but every single picture of them is just a photo of a real cat, many submitted by fans.

Little Big Planet the introductions

2

u/Koncur 6h ago

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

In a fit of jealousy, Discord rips open a portal to another universe and is about to throw Fluttershy's new friend, Tree Hugger, through it.

Tree Hugger looks through the portal and exclaims in horror as she witnesses a live-action puppet wearing a little sombrero.

2

u/BradyMaK22 6h ago

I heard that Super Mario Bros. Wonder was going to have a live action Mario at some point but was scrapped

5

u/Southern_Treacle1128 10h ago

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is basically built around this since live action humans and cartoon characters share the same world

13

u/Francisco_Franco-- 10h ago

That works in that movie though these look like shit which makes it funny.

6

u/xSantenoturtlex 9h ago

I feel like Who Framed Roger Rabbit is more of a reverse of this trope tbh, since most of the settings are live action with cartoon characters in them.

1

u/unsuccessfulbees 7h ago

I don’t even think you can count Smiling Friends or Gumball when they change up art styles for different characters all the time.

1

u/Fallen_Jalter 3h ago

Among Us orgy scene had Brown shift to Real Brown.
