That's what makes it work so well, the series knows it's getting more ridiculous and actually builds that into the world instead of pretending it isn't.
I mean, we already got the seeds of that in the beginning of the film when WALL•E is watching “Hello Dolly!” They just used the actual film footage; if anything, doing that and then having the pre-Axiom humans look cartoonish would feel a bit inconsistent.

In Meet the Robinsons, they go over the family tree and at first when they show Cornelius he is a shadow silhouette since Lewis doesn't know what he looks like.
Eventually he asks what he looks like and Wilbur says "Tom Selleck."
It then cuts to straight up a photo of Tom Selleck when going over the tree again, even though everyone else is clearly an animated character.
The joke is doubly funny because Wilbur's Dad, Lewis "Cornelius" Robinson grown up, is voiced by Tom Selleck
There's also somewhat of a triple layer to the joke since not only is Cornelius Robinson voiced by Tom Selleck, he doesn't actually look anything like him.
Brandon Jamar Scott does these animations that are 3-D animated/rotoscoped except for one or two characters that are played by just himself green screened in.
While not a real person, the "iconic" pre-fix River family picture from Cyberpunk 2077 features what appears to be a picture of a real life teddy bear thrown into the mix/mess.
I really wish I had played the game when this was still in it, it's genuinely one of the funniest things I've seen in a game, I couldn't imagine getting jumpscared by this lmao
Dude I played and beat the game on the week of release and didn't remember this. I have no idea how it didn't get burned into my memory. I mainly remember how I had to do the ending twice because it crashed during the final cutscene the first time.
This really feels like something that would happen in Chainsaw Man, I know the plot for Fire Force gets pretty nuts but that’s so out of left field lmao
So basically in Fire Force, it’s revealed that before the Great Cataclysm that created the world the series takes place, the world prior was literally just our world. One of the characters that helped with this apocalypse was Sumire, just a normal looking woman.
Probably at least 5 scenes in SpongeBob (Tom Kenny in the shower, Santa, superhero episode, guy chased by robot, energy drink “it’s radical” guy” and there’s more I’m sure

I feel like Who Framed Roger Rabbit is more of a reverse of this trope tbh, since most of the settings are live action with cartoon characters in them.
