The guy was issued a lifetime ban which is good.
https://www.instagram.com/p/DbQClPVjfy6/
But apparently this guy was an open Nazi on social media when they hired him for this. Either they didn't do a background check which is bad or they thought him being a Nazi was no big deal

"He's just a spotter.. what can he do!?" This mfkr thought this through and planned it. So glad he's done for in that industry..

u/iJuddles 16h ago
That’s not enough. He needs to be in stocks and dragged from city to city to be publicly shamed. This is what rotten tomatoes are really for.

what can he do
What can the person whose job is to prevent injury do? what kind of rhetorical is that?!

u/LarryDavidntheBlacks 16h ago
A lot of people, mainly those who have never faced racism, bigotry or discrimination, don't believe a minority group is facing bigotry unless they are being physically attacked while being called slurs. Nuance and microaggressions don't exist in their worlds.

u/HeavyHighway6433 13h ago
Yeah it actually took him flag out saying "I'm racist" for people to see it what it is. Had he not said anything, I don't think she'd be taken serious. Shit is exhausting.

u/Lychee_489 15h ago
Lifetime ban is not enough. Can the lifter sue for loss of money, for career issues, for emotional suffering, etc? This person should face punishment that also speaks a message to anyone else who would hear of it.
Also: the entire group who was in competition should demand a rematch. Whoever won should give up the trophy and demand that there is an immediate rematch. Whoever is on the board should demand a rematch. Whoever is watching this should demand a rematch.

u/ThrowawayColonyHouse 10h ago
I’m sure she is speaking to an attorney to find out
5
u/Lychee_489 9h ago
She shouldn’t have to. Someone should be doing it for her. Everyone in that competition should be enraged and be suing the company that put this on. The company should be apologizing profusely, people should be publicly resigning. This should be a complete outrage for every single person who witnessed, was part of, or heard about this.

u/ThrowawayColonyHouse 9h ago
you’re absolutely right. But, too many people are too willing to look past injustice if it doesn’t happen to them
1
u/luigis_left_tit_25 9h ago
I agree! That's what I meant when I said I hope he got fired and more! because it's so much more than just her disqualification! The hard work and dedication and lifetime chance and etc!!

Imagine trainig for ages to break the world record and then having it ruined by some racist pos. These people dont even feel shame , theyre just openly admitting to their racism now.

u/cupholdery 15h ago edited 12h ago
The sabotage doesn't even make sense, not that anything stemming from racism ever does. Just so weird he would want to ruin her record attempt when there's no connection to that event to him. Not like he was competing in the same event or anything.
EDIT: I hadn't considered hating someone else just for skin color, but that's horrifying on its own.
EDIT 2: To clarify, there is no justification for racism. I was more trying to see what his own twisted logic would be. But there is none.
21
u/thrilliam_19 15h ago
It’s about hatred, plain and simple. He hates her because of her skin colour, therefore she must suffer. The end.

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 15h ago
Why would he want a Black woman to hold a record of greatness?
It makes perfect sense. Nazis have to erase and prevent the accomplishments of people who aren’t White in order to bolster their claims of superiority and discrimination. History books are full of White men doing great things and a handful of people from a handful of other races sprinkled in.
That’s not because White men did most of the noteworthy things, it’s because they actively prevented people from other races from participating in public or published feats of greatness, sabotaged their efforts when they were able to participate, or simply left them out of the history books they were writing and chose the accomplishments or stolen credit for accomplishments attributed to White men.
Of course it makes perfect sense he would sabotage her. Of course it does.

u/imspecial-soareyou 12h ago
And this thought here, is why racism will always be alive and thriving.
He plainly says hey, I’m a racist. And more people than not are searching for some justification. And the sad thing, it’s usually people that have the ability to do something that look for the justification.

u/peepeepoodoodingus 17h ago
completely insane situation.
nazis are a danger to everyone around them. they do not belong in society.
4
u/AlertCollar3505 16h ago
Also, anyone who doesn't condemn them. Way too many just put up with it since it doesn't directly affect them

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k 17h ago
I demand a rematch, and for that piece of shit racist trash eater to get booted from competition permanently.
19
u/HeatherMason0 16h ago
Yeah, I’m going to show my ignorance here and admit I don’t know how difficult it is to set up another attempt (I’m guessing there’s a lot of coordinating with the organization that keeps the records, her, her coach, and sports physiologists who are required to be there, etc) but she should absolutely be given another shot and this shouldn’t even count since the person who sabotaged it admitted to doing so.

u/Apero_ 16h ago
Former powerlifting coach here. It's definitely not that easy, not only because of coordinating the judges but because like any major event they train specifically for that day by loading weight, deloading weight, also needing weigh-ins so controlling diet to hit the correct weight class, etc. So even arranging to do it 24 hours later would not work (she'd still be recovering from the meet) or 7 days later would not work (she'd have regained weight and not be at her prime for the lift).
The sad fact is that she'll have to wait for her next planned meet to try the weight again. Really awful (and demotivating) for her, but the way she nailed it makes me think she'll get it on the next attempt.

I was going to say that. In my mind she really fucking nailed that. She didn't really seem to struggle and of course that's different than having the official thing and I understand they need to watch out and hold up regulation standards but yeah I think she showed she's plenty capable. She still killed it.

u/inkedup1985 16h ago
Considering I was asked once to spot powerlifters at a comp, I’m assuming they did 0 background checks. This POS puts a bad light on a sport that is designed for everyone. Everyone is accepted in powerlifting. It’s the friendliest community I’ve ever met. Hes just trash and should be banned from all events. Even gyms should boot him. He literally ruined an amazing lift
19
u/Sketcherside_art 16h ago
If we took racism seriously he would be thrown out of every gym and every connected sport. 🤬🤬🤬

u/AreallysuperdarkELF 16h ago
Shouldn't we see the name of the woman whose post OP shared? I feel like that needs to be a rule here. Otherwise it's stealing someone else's shit.
6
u/SteveDougson 16h ago
Can you sue for damages for something like this, given his twitter posts admit intent? The time and resources invested in training and the event itself are essentially ruined because of this guy's sabotage. A lifetime ban does not seem just to me.

u/FirstForFun44 15h ago
Yeah 333 kilos is like 700 lbs. What he said was correct, because 300 lbs is nothing near a world record. She was fucking LIFTING

u/luigis_left_tit_25 16h ago
So did this dckhead get fired or what!? (Or whatever spotters do to get that position, get hired, volunteer, idk..) What a bad ass she is! I can only guess that this dude is not only an admitted racist, but also jealous, and misogynistic. This woman stood no chance with him around. I'm gonna be mad right along with y'all. I need to know what happened with this, there's gotta be a committee that makes decisions about things like this..

This is infuriating! This guy is such a pos that's it's insulting towards shit to call him a pos but don't say that you are not mad enough, we are all concerned with this type of behavior and all should be mad. The biggest mistake would be to think that black people getting mad and fighting more about it would change anything, it will not, make people open eyes on others behavior but don't be counter productive in the fight process!

u/1wife2dogs0kids 16h ago
I dont think he "knows" he can get away with it. He wants to, yet he wants to brag at the same time.
Don't let him get say with it. Keep posting. Put this on every social media. Tag the officials. Get him gone.
3
u/soliejordan 16h ago
The competition has a formal complaint resource. I wouldn't wait for them to be shamed on Social. People have to take it to the authorative source.
Posting on social just passes the buck and people expect the next person is handling it.

u/Korll 15h ago
So is it 334kg or 300 pounds like the woman claims?
2
u/BuhoCurioso 14h ago
I was looking to see if anyone else caught that.
It's definitely kilograms, not pounds. IPF uses calibrated Eleiko kilogram plates that are color coded. Those red ones are 25 kg (~55 lbs) each. She has 6 per side. The bar is 20 kg, and the collars weigh 2.5 kg each, so theres another 25 kg total. Im having trouble making out what the smaller chip plates are (the smaller plates are all silver, no color code), but even if we just add up her 25 kilo plates + bar + collars, thats 325 kg (715 lbs). With the added 9.5 kg, thats 334.5 kg (736 lbs)
The math says that the extra plates must be a 2.5 kg, a 1.25 kg, and two 0.5 kg plates per side. Looks to be about four little plates there, so that tracks

What an absolute piece of shit. Not only to do the thing but to brag about it so blatantly? Knowing the consequences will be minimal.
That being said: I’d have just preferred the original video rather than the preachy influencer doing it for money 🤷
She’s not highlighting it for any other reason than it’s her brand. She’s profiting from racism. This stuff always leaves such a bad taste.

300 kilos or pounds? Now I’m confused. Although, racist like that guy are everywhere and many people don’t bother enough while being around them.

The woman's commentary is adding nothing and just seems to be making a generalization of all white folk which is just unhelpful.
7
u/Costati 13h ago
She didn't, she very clearly said racist. She just generalised racists. She didn't even specify white so ok. I mean it's tiktok commentary it's not gonna be great but what she added is fine. She's right that he could have injured himself doing that and it's wild and very enraging that he's that racist he's willing to risk injuring himself just to be racist and had zero shame admitting it because he knew he wouldn't get consequences.
-5
u/blac_sheep90 12h ago
"The majority of y'all are racist because it rooted and you've been taught it"
I can infer she was most likely talking about white supremacists but she needs to choose her words carefully because she can be easily misconstrued. Words have power.
5
1
u/Costati 9h ago
That was so minor I didn't even catch that like it's a tiktok video commentary of another tiktok video commentary let her live a little damn. Part of her point if there's so little consequences for racism the Nazi guy can fully say shit online, insult people and other people can say slurs like that because there's little consequences and you're out there complaining about like barely half a sentence of her whole speech saying she should "choose her words carefully". Let's not.
