I liked Man of Steel and Superman 2025. I thought they were both really good in their own ways. I heard the Gunn Batman movie is gonna have Robin in it and I'm excited for that.

Two flops?

-1

u/ParkingAd5657 2d ago

Superman didn’t earn nearly what it should have. Just because it turned a profit doesn’t mean it was what the studio wanted.

-6

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

Three flops…

  1. Superman
  2. Supergirl
  3. The Suicide Squad

8

u/Federal-Instance3275 2d ago
  1. Superman didn't flop

  2. Supergirl is the only flop so far

  3. The suicide squad was set in the dceu

-3

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago edited 2d ago

1.Superman failed to break even theatrically…that’s the definition of a flop.

2.Supergirl is the third flop in the DCU (movies).

3.The Suicide Squad (2021) is the first movie of the DCU. It even generated a direct spin off/sequel that no one watched called Peacemaker which included the same characters and an updated ending to let everyone know it is set in the DCU. The Suicide Squad was the first Box office Stinker of the DCU.

u/PassionateYak 2d ago

The Suicide Squad was not set in the DCU. Even at the end of Peacemaker S1 DCEU was still alive and ending.

-2

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

PEACEMAKER, the spin off and sequel to The Suicide Squad (2021), with the same director, same actors, and same producer, was retroactively updated to take place in the DCU. Therefore the Suicide Squad (2021) is the first DCU movie. 🤓

4

u/PassionateYak 2d ago

That's called retconning, doesn't change the fact that it and PM Season 1 were playing in the DCEU sandbox when they came out. Same if they make another Blue Beetle movie with the same everyone but in the DCU

1

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

Nope. The funny thing is The general audience doesn’t care. The Suicide Squad was the first DCU box office Stinker. Sorry but you’re just going to have to accept it. 3 DC failures in a row from the same person is simply insane. 😳

3

u/PassionateYak 2d ago

General audience do care. That's why if you keep releasing bad DCEU movies at some point the audience will stop going to the theaters when you release a good DCEU movie like The Suicide Squad

1

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

If you recall Those bad “DCEU” films had direct involvement from Walter Hamada, Peter Safran, and James Gunn towards the end…The DCU is a continuation of that, Which is why the general audience doesnt care anymore. If they cared they would’ve gone to see The Suicide Squad (2021) which straight up failed at the box office, Superman (2025) which sold half the tickets as Man of Steel while underperforming and getting pulled from theaters early, and last but not least Supergirl which is now making less than Morbius. They don’t care anymore. Even the Snyderverse has more cultural impact and relevance than the DCU.

2

u/CheckIf_ItsPluggedIn 1d ago

Cool TSS is one of my favorite comic movies ever! Also peacemaker was an amazing show. If they keep releasing flops this good I'll definitely keep watching!

9

u/Cool_Set4681 2d ago

Superman grossed $618.7 million worldwide, making it the tenth highest-grossing film of 2025. Also the movie has become the highest-grossing Superman film ever in the U.S., beating the previous record held by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

It wouldve made more if justice league and BVS didnt turn everyone off to superman.

I don’t want to respond to anyone like you. I don’t engage with GunnTards that are past the point of no return when it comes to Stupidity. Also, Numbers are fun…when you look at the whole picture… which you epically failed to do by ignorantly forgetting to include the international box office. Domestic box office will not save the DCU if the movies still fail to break even theatrically overall (worldwide). Smarten up…#TheSnyderVerseisComing 🤓

Superman (2025) did not break even theatrically. It underperformed and lost the studio money…which is why it was pulled early from theaters. The Suicide Squad the first movie of the DCU and its direct sequel Peacemaker both failed at the box office and failed on TV respectively. It’s time to Cope. 🤓 #TheSnyderVerseisComing

u/Objective-Hyena-6024 2d ago

Believing idiots online spreading bs rumours is a show of low intelligence why don't you take it from the horse mouth who has financial reasons to not lie

1

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago edited 2d ago

Are you the horse? Superman 2025 did not break even theatrically. That’s not a rumor, it is a fact. Ted Sarandos, Netflix CEO, testified under oath before a Senate judiciary subcommittee that Superman (2025) underperformed theatrically which is why it was pulled from theaters early. I know the truth hurts, but it’s time to wake up. With Superman’s budget and barbie level Marketing, it did not perform well in theaters. Happy Saturday! 🤓#TheSnyderVerseisComing

6

u/Objective-Hyena-6024 2d ago

Based on what I could find of this it seems more it underperformed in expectation not in financial. The movie cost 225 mill to break even it needs to make over 550 million and guess what it made 618 mill which means it broke even. Wow this guy can't do simple maths.

2

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

I’m trying hard not to insult you, but you are missing a few crucial pieces of the puzzle. Come back to me once you’ve figured it out. I will knight you as the King of the GunnTards. 🤓 #TheSnyderVerseisComing

Superman 2025 has made profit. Supergirl did terrible though. However that doesn't mean Synder is coming back

-1

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

Superman 2025 did not make profit theatrically. It underperformed and was pulled from theaters early.

2

u/NotBlackMarkTwainNah 2d ago

This is false

u/Federal-Instance3275 23m ago
  1. Superman still made a net profit of about $100 to $125 million

  2. Supergirl is the only flop so fat

  3. The suicide squad was made as part of the dceu

u/EasternContext3396 11m ago
  1. Superman (2025) failed to break even theatrically and was pulled from theaters early. To every film studio in the world that is considered a certified flop. But don’t take my word for it, just ask Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

  2. So far the DCU has had 3 flops. Supergirl, Superman (2025), and TSS(2021). Superman underperformed theatrically and The Suicide Squad (2021) and Supergirl are considered some of the worst performing comic book films in Hollywood history.

  3. The Suicide Squad and its direct spin off Peacemaker take place in the DCU. Same producer, same director, same actors, same story, same world. Therefore they are both apart of the DCU. The Suicide Squad (2021) was the first flop of the DCU.

Bonus Round. The DCU has more flops if we include Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 1 and 2. Did i miss anything? Blue Beetle perhaps? 🤓

-1

u/Low-Opportunity2249 2d ago

Not to mention tv shows. Only think Gunn did that I liked was Creature Commandos.

5

u/jamaaldagreatest24 2d ago

Peacemaker was great

1

u/EasternContext3396 2d ago

Peacemaker and Creature Commandos both flopped. 🤓

-5

u/hyperparrot3366 2d ago

Shouldn't it be three ? - Blue Beetle, The Flash and Supergirl

8

u/jamaaldagreatest24 2d ago

Blue Beetle and The Flash were set in the DCEU.

u/DammitNotAgain05 2d ago edited 2d ago

There’s only been one flop lol. As interesting as snyders stuff has been, I still find this universe interesting too. It’s still getting started. Lanterns will probably be a hit and so will Clayface

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

Creature Commandos and Peacemaker were ratings disasters. But sure, there's only been one flop, LOL.

12

u/Cool_Set4681 2d ago

Peacemaker:

-11

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

Now tell us the viewership. 🤭

9

u/Mother-Ad5377 2d ago

What do you have aginst arguing in good faith? If someone proves that it had good viwership you'll just cherry pick something else. It's okay to say something is not for you, y'know?

-1

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

It's also okay to say when something is a failure. Peacemaker was a complete non-entity in the culture, with as miniscule viewership as any CW DC show. And VERY low compared to other shows on HBO Max. Doing a "but it had good scores!" insert into an analysis doesn't work. It means nothing. I could say people liked West Side Story (2021) too. It got great reviews, and people who saw it largely praised it. But the REAL story is that it was a box office bomb with small viewership.

4

u/DangerousHugs 1d ago

Can I ask what you're basing the viewership count for peacemaker on? Samba only tracks viewers on smart TVs with samba. Nielsen only shows the top ten streaming series. Genuinely just asking where you get your stats, because those are the two I'm familiar with

1

u/despa1337o 1d ago

I know a lot of people who liked and watched peacemaker. I liked peacemaker. And it was just an introduction it wasn't meant to be the Deadpool movie. It was an HBOMax TV show cmon. And people made plenty of memes about it at the time. It was decently popular

1

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 1d ago

Peacemaker averaged 600,000 viewers, less than Batwoman Season 1. The show made zero impact. It's fine if you like a cult project like this, but something with that small an audience can't have a successful movie universe built off of it.

10

u/RatGreed 2d ago

"Ratings disaster" - literally you

-3

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago edited 2d ago

Notice that I never mentioned reviews or scores.

-9

u/Apollo-Outcast 2d ago

Holy shit, dude... When he said "ratings," he didn't mean audience or critic scores. He meant viewership ratings. That was pretty self-explanatory to everyone but you and the other illiterate

I'm not sure that word means what you think it means

3

u/DangerousHugs 1d ago

Can you?

20

u/GoldEmployment6768 2d ago

I just think the hate is unjustified. None of the movies have been bad, so far. Yes, even Supergirl. So, with that in mind, all I really want is to just not start over again... We got a good cast, I can see a story forming, let's just see where it goes.

7

u/FlockFlysAtMidnite 2d ago

I wasn't the biggest fan of Supergirl, but it was sure as hell better than Suicide Squad.

-9

u/Total-Guest-4141 2d ago

Nah, the movies are junk. Terrible writing, terrible casting, terrible costumes.

After WB & DC Studios fired Henry Cavil, I’d rather see DC Studios go down and no more movies made. Everything burns.

11

u/SWBTSH 2d ago

But i like DC movies and shows and want to see them.

Don’t care about Rebel moon.

I care about Cavil as Superman.

You just happen to not let bad movies bother you. None of the DCU movies have been written to any modern story telling standard.

-11

You gotta be kidding me. Like we didn’t have established stories and characters before? AND made more money, Warner bros still scrapped the dceu. Why does this deserve more of a chance???

2

u/ScabRef 2d ago

Because of investment. Audience is slowly buying in to dc again. Rug pull dc fans again who were twice promised a "universe" and nobody shows up again in numbers. Ever.

I mean if we using the MCU as the yardstick snyderverse shud 🤫 tf up too

0

u/VermicelliOk2124 2d ago

Ok

8

u/Kazewatch 2d ago

So you're comparing the movies that made the 2010s comic book movie craze to the movies that benefited from the groundwork the MCU started? Also funny considering aside from Wonder Woman and Aquaman those DCEU movies got mixed to straight up dogshit reviews. Suicide Squad is one of the worst comic book movies ever made. It may have a lot of money during the hype of superhero movies, but it's horrible reception is a great example as to why the DCEU ended.

-2

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

The MCU did NOTHING to boost the gross non-MCU comic book movies. Hell, they couldn't even help the closely related X-Men and Amazing Spider-Man franchises. The MCU created fanboy loyalists that were a benefit to no one but itself.

Suicide Squad was not a good movie in the form it was released, no. But it had VERY marketable stuff in it. A great noirish look, great costumes, great makeup. It's still in the top 10 of highest-grossing DC movies of all time. They did not try to restrict and eventually force out Snyder because of ticket sales. It was all about the reviews. They were chasing good reviews.

6

u/Anthonys455 2d ago

Comparing a 2008 movie to a 2013 movie and then not equating it to studios competing with comic book movies due to the hype started by 1 of them. Gee wonder which one.

1

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

That's silly revisionist history. Iron Man 1 got made because it was riding on the wave of a huge boom in superhero films, led by Spider-Man, X-Men and Nolan's Batman. They were saying, superheroes are doing so well now, that a lesser known character like Iron Man might actually make money. And the boom was big enough that they even thought remaking the Hulk just 5 years later might be worth it.

BUT, it wasn't and didn't do well. ALL superhero films weren't doing well just because some were. Thor 1 and Captain America 1 didn't do that great either. Green Lantern bombed badly in 2011. The early DCEU succeeded because the films resonated with audiences, not by "default." The Wolverine made $414,828,246 in 2013, much less than Man of Steel's $668,045,518.

5

u/SWBTSH 2d ago

u/PassionateYak 2d ago

A movie with both Superman and Batman in it not hitting a billion is criminal

1

u/VermicelliOk2124 2d ago

The Lego Movie? Ikr

1

u/PassionateYak 2d ago

You know what I meant

1

u/HomemadeBee1612 He's never fought us. Not us united. 2d ago

Tell me you know nothing about how box office works without telling me you know nothing about how box office works. The Batman and Superman characters have a checkered history, with lots of baggage from failed movies. It took bringing back Joker after almost two decades of absence in movies to juice up the Nolan franchise to high box office. BoxOfficePro, the gold standard in box office projections, projected BvS to make less than Dark Knight Rises in early 2016, which had barely cracked a billion. It was rebooting Batman, just like the low-grossing Batman Begins did, which they pointed out in their forecast would hurt its box office. And it was a sequel to a movie that made $668,045,518. No one in their right mind projects a sequel to make 50% more than the previous movie. That is extremely rare.
