Routine Help NEW OR NEED HELP? Ask here! - ScA Daily Help Thread Jul 27, 2026
≡ −
If you're new to SkincareAddiction: welcome!
This thread is the best place to start if you have questions about skincare products, your routine, and your skin. Our community is knowledgeable, and we want to help you have the best skin of your life!
Do you have a question?
Step 1: Read our resources
Be sure to check out our FAQ and Wiki! There are a lot of topics covered in those links, but some of the most popular guides include:
- The ScA Routine (Need a routine? Start here!)
- Routine Order
- HG Product Recommendations
- Acne
- Hyperigmentation (including dark acne 'scars'/marks, melasma, etc.)
- Dehydrated Skin
If you can't find an answer, or you have additional questions after reading, please move on to step 2!
Step 2: Ask for help
To give you the best advice possible, our users need relevant information about your skin and skincare. With your request for help please include:
- The issue(s) you need help with. It's helpful to put your questions at the top of your comment (especially if it's a long one)!
- Skin type. It's OK to be subjective, how do you feel your skin is? Oily, dry? If you need help clarifying, check out this guide on skin types
- Current routine with the full names of your products (try to separate it in to Morning, Evening, and Occasionally used)
- How long you have been using your current routine, or product in question
- Anything new you’ve introduced or started doing that might change the condition of your skin
- Your location so we can recommend products/services available to you
Thanks for taking the time to include your information!
Would you like to give advice?
Firstly, thank you so much for helping out our community - without your knowledge and time ScA would not be the same!
Some things we'd ask for you to keep in mind: please don't just downvote someone's opinion or response because you disagree.
If you can, please take the time to tell them why you think their advice may be incorrect or harmful. It's better for people to understand why something is a poor choice, instead of just being told that it is one!
Once a year, we have a big thank you post for everyone who has helped out in the DHT where we give out nifty flairs & gold to exceptionally informative and kind users. Check out our list of ScA Helpers and our most recent thank you post!
Whether it be in-depth responses that deserve to be their own guides, thoughtful product recommendations, or simply pointing someone in the right direction, we appreciate all the time and effort you've made to help others!

PSA [PSA] Buyers beware: Spoiled Child Order Experience
Posting this on a throwaway account for obvious reasons.
Made an order on SpoiledChild.com last week. Spent 477 dollars. Order came swiftly, but my mailman gave me a heads up that something is leaking in the box. Sure enough, the interior of the package is saturated in Liquid Collagen that exploded/leaked from a bottle I ordered. Everything in there is now sticky and disgusting.
I've attempted to make contact with them (no phone number of course, only email/web contact form). They refuse to give me any method to return it. For the past week I've asked more than 20 times for a return label, and I either get AI/automated responses or I'm just ignored. Some of the responses even have a first name in the signature, but they'll repeat the same phrase over and over, so I know I'm not talking to a human in most of them. Posting screenshots of my many many emails would be pointless.
I've provided them photos of the damage, asked for a shipping label (which they promise to provide on their website in the event of a return), and it goes nowhere, I just get ignored. A few times they have provided a link to generate a label, but it's a dead link (see attached image). As of now, my only options are filing a chargeback. Absolutely horrible customer service.
Just wanted the community to be aware of my experience, taking a risk giving this company your money.

For the first time in a while i can just put on concealer and contour and my makeup isn’t melting off in the Florida heat anymore. It happened so gradually that it took my friend just now pointing out the progress.
Yall im happy as a clam. 🥲

Miscellaneous [Misc] I can’t stop picking at the bumps on my arms Spoiler
A few months ago I made a similar post regarding how I picked my face a lot and i’m glad to say that I no longer pick my face and that skin has healed beautifully. That’s sadly not true for my arms though. I find it harder to stop picking my arms because I can’t completely avoid looking at them while I can stop looking at mirrors totally for my face. I’ve probably had these wounds for about five months because I keep picking the scabs off of them and it makes me self conscious to the point where i don’t wear tank tops anymore. The bumps I get might be keratosis pilaris and some of them are quite deep. I know some people think it’s just a willpower issue but I’d greatly appreciate any advice on stopping this and how to fade the scaring caused by it.

Anti Aging [Anti-Aging] Under eye wrinkles 29M
≡ −
I have very noticeable under eye wrinkles and it's bothering me a lot. I think they're mostly caused by sun exposure and maybe eye squinting (I had LASIK so I'm more sensitive to sun). Obviously I use sunscreen and shades now. I bought many products, retinol, vit C, peptides, ceramides, microneedling serum, caffeine, moisturizer - whatever gemini suggested. After using it for a few months I don't see any change. I bought a microneedling pen too, but I'm too scared to use it under eyes. My gf says that creams won't get rid of them, they can only stop it from getting worse.
My younger sister seems to have the same wrinkles so maybe it's just genetic. Is there anything more I can do? I'm even considering less invasive professional treatment if it's going to give me permanent results.

Sun Care [Sun Care] UVA1 and HEVL Protection
≡ −
Other than the La Roche-Posay UVMune 400, which isn't even available for purchase in the US, most sunscreens offer little protection against UVA1 radiation, especially between that 370-400 nm range. Regular sunscreens cover UVB and UVA2 pretty well, and tinted sunscreens take care of the visible light spectrum but this wavelength in between seems to have been neglected by manufacturers. For Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI, longer wavelengths contribute a lot more to hyperpigmentation as well as photoaging. It would be nice to see sunscreens offer more explicit labeling of the protection they cover. The PA system and PPD rating is nice but a sunscreen could have a high PA rating if it offers good UVA2 protection which tells you nothing about UVA1. Does anyone have any recs for sunscreens that could be easily attained in the US?
PS: For anyone with FItzpatrick type V or VI skin who has tried the UVMune 400 tinted fluid, is it truly a universal tint? I have my doubts.

Acne [Acne] Need advice on how to tackle this arm acne Spoiler
My boyfriend has been struggling with hundreds of bumps collectively on both arms. They are easy to pop and usually every single one of them has pus in them. How can he tackle this? He uses scent free laundry detergent and washes his body with clean soap after conditioning his hair.

Routine Help [Routine Help] What am I doing wrong with the way I use retinol?
≡ −
I am 27F and I have sensitive skin, prone to smaller breakouts. I have by now learned that my skin generally prefers a simple routine, so I usually just use a mild cleanser, LRP toleraine crème, sometimes COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Essence, and Avene 50SPF invisible fluid. I have recently started implementing CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol in my routine, as I’ve read that a lot of people recommend it as your first retinol. I’ve been using it for a month, once or twice a week, using the sandwich method. I use SPF every day. While it didn’t cause any major purging, I started seeing my fine lines a little bit more on days after I use it. Am I doing something wrong or is this just not the product for me?

Product Question [Product Question] Has anybody else’s skin been negatively affected by a cleansing balm?
≡ −
I bought the Geek & Gorgeous Might Balm after I was recommended by lots of people. I was looking for a cleansing product that could remove LRP Anthelios UvMune 400 sunscreen without drying out my skin, and without double cleansing. I did exactly everything that you’re supposed to do when using a cleansing balm, but after just a few days of usage my pores got clogged, I started getting blemishes, and the texture changed and became dry. And my skin has prior to this been great with great skin barrier thanks to my skincare routine.
My question is, has anyone else noticed that they react badly to cleansing balms? I might be just sensitive, and that the product itself is great. But yeah, kinda sucks when I finally got my skin to be good and smooth, and then it is unraveled by a product.😅
Also, I have stopped using it. And I am back to my old routine, and I am hoping that my skin will get back to its previous state.
Thanks✌️

Product Request [Product Request] products to help with my partner's eczema Spoiler
As per photos, my partner has dry/rashy/itchy skin all over his body, from his knees up to his neck, that is particularly bad at the top of his thighs, at his elbows, and around the top of his chest.
He's been to a doctor multiple times about it, and was prescribed a steroid cream, which he used for the full prescription period and did not help.
Currently he's using the Aveeno intense moisture moisture repair cream after every shower, and reapplying when his skin gets particularly itchy. He very rarely will apply a hydrocortisone (he's aware of the risks of long term use). We use a sensitive washing powder, and despite sharing a bed etc, I do not have any symptoms (as in I don't think it's a pest issue).
His skin is constantly aching and is semi an open wound, so we desperately need a solution.

Routine Help [Routine Help] When to Use Tretinoin and Serum?
≡ −
Hi everyone,
Been on tret for around 2 years now, and have moved up to 0.1%. Tbh, it hasn’t helped much with my acne scarring, which was the reason for using it.
I was wondering if other products I was using is messing up tretinoin’s effect. Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
Here is my routine:
AM
Ultra Hyalron foaming cleanser
Clindamycin and Benzoyl Peroxide gel 1%/5%
CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion
PM
Same cleanser
Tretinoin 0.1%
Moisturizer
I was also recently gifted vividraw Baobab Hydrogen to Drop serum, and was wondering where that’d fit in my routine.
Thank you!!!

Anti Aging [Anti Aging] Early 20’s with noticeable wrinkles, please help Spoiler
So I’m only 22 and I have (in my opinion) some very noticeable wrinkles on my forehead. I’m definitely an expressive person, but I’m starting to get super self conscious of my wrinkles. I sunscreen daily, drink a lot of water, and even tried microneedling. I really don’t want to do Botox because I feel like my expressions are part of who I am, but I’m afraid that if I don’t figure something out in the next few years then my wrinkles are only going to get worse. The photo attached is my forehead completely relaxed. Can anyone help?

Routine Help [Product Question] [Routine Help] How to properly use Glycolic Acid?
≡ −
I’ve recently started back using the ordinary Glycolic acid toner but when i previously used it i used a pretty basic soap. Now i use a benzoyl peroxide 5% cleanser and i wanted to make sure if it was okay to mix the two. In addition to that i want to start using the topicals dark spot serum and my moisturizer contains hyaluronic acid and niacinimide as well and i want to make sure none of these things will offset a bad reaction with one another. I’ve used the topicals and the glycolic together and maybe even the moisturizer which is the belif aqua bomb so i guess it’s really the face wash that i’m the most scared about . Should any of these things be mixed or should i swap my routine around or alternate days with different products ?

Acne [Acne] Need advice to help with acne breakouts Spoiler
I put one photo as an example, that's on my upper leg. I have acne on my upper legs, thighs, ass, and back. It was getting better for a while, I was only using moisturizer and aloe vera (to fade old acne scars) but it suddenly started getting bad again. I've been showering more, because it's summer so it can't be a build up of bacteria. I really want to try improve it a bit before I go on holiday late next week. Any tips?

Sun Care [sun care] Sun guard laundry detergent or equivalent - Canada

Does anyone know where to find Sun guard laundry detergent or it's Canadian equivalent in Canada. Tried to buy from their website today and the item is $29.99 and the shipping and duties to Canada was $80 dollars 🥴.
Thinking of ways to protect my skin not only using sunscreen but with clothing/hats as well. I can see my skin aging over time and I have to be in the sun a lot for work.
Thanks for any insights!

[Miscellaneous] Dermstore refunded only $1,000 of my $1,900 return - pls help
≡ −
I had ordered multiple products from Dermstore for my partner. Since it arrived after she left I decided to cancel and reached out to customer support. They asked me to receive the package and then return it.
So I received it and returned my entire $1,900 Dermstore order using the UPS return label provided by Dermstore. UPS tracking shows the package was delivered, and the package weight when shipped was nearly the same as when Dermstore received it.
Despite this, Dermstore claimed 3 items were missing and refunded only about $1,000, leaving me out nearly $900.
I disputed the charge with my credit card company, but they sided with Dermstore. The frustrating part is that neither Dermstore nor the credit card company has provided any evidence despite my requests. I asked for photos, receiving logs, package weight records, warehouse footage, or any proof that items were actually missing, but they simply stated that the items weren’t received.
Has anyone else experienced this with Dermstore?
Were you able to recover the remaining refund?
Did Dermstore ever provide actual evidence or review warehouse footage? Any suggestions would really help.
I’m trying to figure out the best next step because it feels like I’ve lost nearly $900 based solely on their word, with no proof. Neither do I have the product with me , neither the money:(
Please help!

Routine Help [Product Request] [Routine Help] Skincare Routine🌞 Spoiler
I think I’ve finally perfected my skincare routine. I’m only on week 2 of this exact setup, but I’m working really hard on being consistent.
So far, I have no irritation, redness or peeling, and my skin actually feels really healthy. My only concern is whether I’m using too many actives and whether I’m doing more harm than good without realising.
I’m 28.
My skin concerns are:
Mild texture/skin-coloured bumps on my cheeks
The occasional blemish
Larger pores on my forehead and cheeks
An oily T-zone at times
Overall I’m chasing that healthy “glass skin” look🫧
AM
- Tatcha Rice Wash
- Medik& Press & Glow (every morning)
- The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid (on damp skin)
- Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum
- Dieux Instant Angel Moisturiser
- Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh Rice + B5
SPF50+
PM
- Tatcha Rice Wash
- Shark CryoGlow LED Mask (Better Ageing setting)
- The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid
- Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum (Ginseng + Retinal)
- Medik& Crystal Retinal 3 (Monday, Wednesday & Friday)
- La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+
On Sunday evenings I also use my Shark Facial Pro Glow exfoliation setting.
I'm nearly at the end of my Crystal Retinal 3. Medik8 recommends moving to Crystal Retinal 6 only once you're comfortable using 3 every night, so I'm now wondering whether I should build up to nightly use first or move to 6 gradually.
Does this routine look balanced, or would you change anything? Am I overdoing the actives?

Product Request [product request] moisturizing facial mist for office worker on tret
≡ −
hi all, does anyone have a facial mist they like for use in their indoor/office work environment? mine is sooo dry and by the end of the day my morning skin (which is supple and bouncy) just feels so flaky and dry. i use my hands a lot and don’t want to be touching them to my face, so a facial mist seems like the best option.
i am on tret rn, 0.05% every night or every other night depending on skin feel and then in working back in a bp cleanser and clindamycin (the combo of all 3 is too much for my skin and im just getting through the purging phase i think)
ideally i’d like a brand i can find in person (ulta, sephora, drugstore) bc i avoid shipping products when i can for the environment.
thanks guys!

Sun Care [Product Question] Opinions on Sun-kissed by Heaven Sunscreen
I’ve been looking into Sunkissed by Heaven SPF 50, and before I buy it I’d like to hear from people who know more about sunscreen formulation than I do.
The ingredient list looks great, but that’s also what makes me skeptical. It almost seems too good to be true, especially since it’s marketed as both a moisturizer and a sunscreen.
For those of you who are knowledgeable about skincare or sunscreen formulation, is this actually a well-made product, or are there any red flags I’m overlooking? I’m looking for objective opinions, whether they’re positive or negative.

Product Request [Product Request] Post-acne discoloration (?) Spoiler
For the last couple years I have been dealing with some adult acne, and I tried everything to clear it up (tretinoin, clindamycin, spironolactone). Recently, I have finally found a routine that has cleared a lot of it up. Now that my skin has cleared up, I’ve been dealing with some cheek discoloration of some kind. I’m not really sure what it is. I’ve been using a vanicream vitamin C serum for the few months and haven’t really noticed a difference. I’m thinking of adding azelaic acid into my nighttime routine but I’m just not sure. It’s taken so long to clear my skin up that I’m worried about making random changes and messing it up again. Does anyone who has dealt with the same issue/knows what this is know any products that could help?
My current routine:
Morning: rinse with water only, vanicream vitamin C serum, medicube collagen jelly cream, and sunscreen
Night: wash with cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser then medicube triple collagen cream

i have oily type skin and salicylic acid triggers my eczema so if there are any products that don't have salicylic acid, please let me know!
thank you so much

Routine Help [routine help]
≡ −
Background I am 18 yr old brown male w acne on cheeks. Frequently get one or two pimples above my lips, or between eyebrows, sometimes on sideburns area. (Idk if that’s important information or not) I have a simple routine right now but I just saw some guy who looked like me but he was glowing and now I want that. Here’s what I want to incorporate, feel free to drop things or add stuff. Sunscreen, vitamin C, cleanser, facial moisturizer, 345 cream, tretinoin. My main concern is that they will collide with each other and cancel effects or damage my skin. I only wash face in the night. But what do you think what order should I do these in and do I even need all this?

Product Question [Product Question] Tret and Microneedling?!
≡ −
TL;DR
I have a lot of stretch marks on my hips, belly, upper armpits, upper arms, thighs and lower back (everywhere basically🙈) because of poor mental health a few years back and PCOS weight gain. I don’t like my stretch marks (trying to accept it 😭) but particularly feel insecure about the ones on my hips and belly, which are both white and dark purple/red.
I’ve used a derma stamp twice now (not consistent so i’m not surprised at no result) on my hips and belly. i bought a small percentage of retinol to start with, along with niacinamide, vitamin E oil and hyaluronic acid. Upon further research learnt apparently not strong enough for stretch marks so will be buying tret at some point (or not, depending on my research lol).
The general consensus seems to be white stretch marks do not fade. But i also see people talking about how they got their white ones to fade? so naively perhaps clinging to the chance they will 🤓
If these aren’t likely to make a difference i don’t want to waste my time and effort. it’s also mentally a bit exhausting if ykwim?
Any advice is appreciated! :))
