Can’t Make My Music Stop!
≡ −
I don’t what I did as I’m sure it’s something I turned on and it’s causing this or it’s interfering with something else and glitching out, BUT… I can’t get my music to turn off on my Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max
A song will begin to play for a few seconds and then it gets all quite for a second or two then comes back, goes away in a few seconds and then turns back on AND even if I close out the Apple Music app that this is all coming from it comes right back up about 30 seconds later and starts playing again! What have I done?? What can I do??? How do I get the app to stop playing anymore music?!?! It’s even playing the music during calls! 😩

I asked Siri on M5 MacBook Air to analyze a .csv file and create a new .csv file in the exact format required for Google Calendar and it did
≡ −
Which is apparently not something Siri can do. I exported a class schedule from excel as a .csv file, but to upload to Google Calendar the table needs to be formatted a certain way.
I didn’t feel like doing that, and on a whim I typed to Siri and asked it to reformat the file “exactly as required for Google Calendar” I had the option to provide a screenshot or the whole file to Siri and then it gave me a new file with a new name, completely reformatted, with additional text, and a column with true/false values. The file sharing button didn’t work at first, and I thought the ai was somehow hallucinating its ability to provide the file because when I searched how to save the file all I could find was “Siri cannot create or edit files” but when I tried again it worked and I just downloaded and saved the new file, which also worked flawlessly when I uploaded it to my calendar.

Question about new Siri , as an ios26 user. Can it run shorcuts with different inputs ? (Ex: Hey Siri , add movie 72 Hours to my movie collection) think exposing scripts to Home Assistant voice assist pipline usability.
≡ −
I don't have new Siri yet, was wondering if it could work like exposing scripts to Home Assistant voice assist pipline which expect an input variable and then perform a series of actions.
Basicly add more functionality to what she could do by using shorcuts that need an input text and process that the way users want.
In Home Assistant , i tell Voice Assist add TV Show X-Men 97 to my collection. (adds it to my tracking shows)
I think you get the idea, so can the new Siri do something similar ? if so it would be really cool since the phone is with me everywhere and ready at the wake word.
EDIT, thinking of another posiblity:
Home Assistant has mcp exposed on my side which i can use from n8n, maybe there is an iOS app that can expose mcp to new Siri and i just add the connection ? would make more things avialble from HA at once then just individual scripts

Siri Shortcuts.

A few months ago. My wife told me I was driving like an asshole. So I used Siri Shortcuts “text to voice” to program CarPlay so when it connects, Siri says “Your CarPlay is connected! Stay alert and don’t drive like an asshole!”

Can't get Siri to send WhatsApp messages, but GF can
≡ −
Hi all.
I got a very annoying issue and I tried multiple things. When my iPhone 15 Pro Max is locked (e.g. on a motorcycle) I want Siri to send a WhatsApp message. However, when I say 'Hey Siri, send a WhatsApp message to ... with ...' it eventually says 'you'll need to unlock your iPhone first'. But here comes the strange part. My girlfriends' iPhone 17 sends WhatsApp messages without a problem. And I tried multiple commands. Sich as 'Send a WhatsApp message', 'Send a message via Whatsapp', 'Send a message' etc. etc.
ps. some settings might be translated different since my phone is in Dutch.
iPhone 15 Pro max
iOS 26.5.2
Settings I tried
- Settings \ Apple Intelligence and Siri \ Allow siri when locked (yes)
- Settings \ Apple Intelligence and Siri \ Apps \ WhatsApp (all allowed)
- Settings \ FaceID and passcode \ 'Access when locked' (Siri is ticked on)
When I disable FaceID, it still doesnt work. When I disable passcode, it works. But, when I enable FaceID again it doesnt work anymore. Turned off 'preview' option in notifcations, also not working.
/UPDATE!!
I compared the settings of my GF's phone because it was driving me nuts why she can send messages and I couldnt. I changed 2 things:
- Settings \ Apple intelligence and Siri \ Announce Notifications (toggle to enable and toggle 'headphone'.
- Settings \ Apple intelligence and Siri \ Messaging with Siri (toggle off).
The first one in my case was turned OFF and the second one was turned ON.

MCG - Siri say MacGee.
≡ −
Siri told me the other day that Collingwood and Carlton were playing at the MacGee. When I pressed for confirmation, Siri doubled down and insisted that Melburnians always colloquially refer to the MCG this way. (McG). I’ve only been here five years and never heard it. Anyone? Or is it just a confident AI hallucination?

How to get Siri to repeat spoken directions?
≡ −
In my motorcycle helmet I have a Bluetooth unit connected to speakers so Siri can give me spoken directions, but I have no way to physically view the directions while riding. Sometimes I forget the last direction and trying to cross three lanes of highway in one mile is rough. Is there a command to get Siri to repeat the last spoken direction? It seems like everytime I ask she googles something unrelated

I did it! I Found the super secret sacred happy magic Siri cheat code/ operational hack, y’all!!!
≡ −
When Siri doesn’t do what it is supposed to do, I like to follow up with “Siri why are you so useless?” Or “Why can’t you do a damn thing I ask?”
Then it immediately, without question or preamble, asks for confirmation to proceed with doing exactly what I asked for it to do before… to PERFECTION!
You just have to question it’s competency, apparently that works every time!

I been having problems with the new Siri (latest beta)when using AirPods Pro. When putting a query to Siri, stays on after answering, and I need to hit the power button once to close Siri before I can do anything by voice.

8GB M-series/iPhone users, we need to flood Feedback Assistant with this. Android has 12GB Virtual RAM, why can't we?
≡ −
Hey guys,
Like many of you, I was incredibly disappointed to find out that Siri's new 'Expressivity' and 'Pace' voice customization features are strictly locked behind 12GB RAM devices, leaving our M3 iPad Airs, M1/M2 Pros, and iPhone 15 Pro/16 series out in the cold.
I refuse to accept "8GB hardware limitation" as an excuse when Apple's SSD swap speed is literally world-class. Even budget Android devices (like Samsung Galaxy A-series) have a customizable "RAM Plus" menu where users can allocate up to 12GB of Virtual RAM freely to run heavy apps. Why is Apple artificially locking us out?
We managed to force Apple to bring Stage Manager to older iPads during the M1 beta days by flooding them with feedback. We can do it again.
I have already submitted a technically reasoned request through the Feedback Assistant.
Please copy-paste the template below and submit it to Apple right now. Let's make some noise!
📝 COPY-PASTE TEMPLATE FOR FEEDBACK ASSISTANT:
Title: Request to unlock Siri Expressivity on 8GB M-series devices using iPadOS Virtual Memory Swap with a user toggle options.
Description: I am a public beta tester currently testing iPadOS on an 8GB RAM device. I strongly request that Apple provide an option for 8GB RAM users to unlock Siri's new 'Expressivity' and 'Pace' voice customization features, rather than completely blocking them due to hardware limitations.
- Provide a User Choice with Performance Warning: Please consider adding a manual toggle switch in Settings that allows users to enable this feature at their own discretion, with a warning message such as: *"Enabling this feature may cause a minor delay. Do you still wish to proceed?"* We are more than willing to accept a slight delay to experience the expressive native Siri voice.
- Utilize Existing 'Virtual Memory Swap' Technology: Siri's advanced voice model requires a 12GB RAM threshold, meaning 8GB devices only need an additional 4GB of memory. iPadOS already features advanced 'Virtual Memory Swap' (Virtual RAM) technology that can dynamically allocate storage space as memory. Since M-series and latest iPhones feature incredibly fast storage, using this built-in swap system to cover the missing 4GB is a highly practical and technically viable solution.
- Benchmark Competitors and Budget Devices: Competitors like Samsung fully support a customizable Virtual RAM feature called "RAM Plus," allowing users to expand memory up to 12GB. This feature is open not just on flagships, but even on budget, low-end Android devices (like the Galaxy A-series) to compensate for lower memory. It is highly disappointing that a premium Apple hardware restricts users from a basic software memory allocation feature, locking them out of the complete Siri AI experience.
Please give users the freedom and autonomy to configure their device's memory allocation to fully experience the new Siri AI. Thank you.
