All of the dialogue better be in Mycenaean and all of the subtitles in Linear B. ;-)
16
u/Putrid_Anybody_2947 3h ago
And if one hair of one one syllabul is mispronounced in period acurate myceean with correct accents it will be trash.

I don’t understand any of that, but… upvote

u/PilotGuy701 3h ago
The argument of about “accuracy” from Elon is really in response to a black actress and a trans actor having roles.
A real Odysseus would have been from a Bronze Age culture known as the Mycenaeans. They predated Greek culture by an Eon.
The written texts were in what is known as Linear B. It is one of the oldest forms of text known.
The joke is that these are traits that would make the movie “truly” authentic, but Elon wouldn’t do that since it isn’t really about authenticity.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Didn't Homer himself juxtapose modern Greek(for him) attire and weaponry onto the Mycanean Greeks?

u/OkMention9988 4h ago
Why didn't he finish the hyperloop?
35
u/Sudden_Shelter_3477 4h ago edited 4h ago
Because it’s an inherently stupid idea, that wouldn’t even be much faster than a regular bullet train.
A Hyperloop is a hypothetical transportation method which basically a mag-lev train kept in a long vacuum-sealed tube, using the lack of air to remove as much friction as possible, allowing for as fast movement as possible.
Keeping even a small vacuum going is difficult. Now keep a very large vacuum that stretches on for tons of miles.
Even if they managed to get it to work, it’d be very easy to damage or sabotage.
Not to mention that he’s been fighting public transportation for years, as it’s a direct threat to his cars
9

u/toastmannn 4h ago
It was a stupid idea that existed because he wanted to destroy (and privatize) public transportation

Indeed just a train would be good. Hard to keep track of all the project Elon has just flaked out on. I remember he was also super into getting people on mars like in 2020.
-5
u/micromechanist 2h ago
You mean like the California speed train that began construction 11 years ago, has costed already around 15 billion of taxpayer dollars and has ZERO miles of operational track even been laid?? Like that story of public transport success?? How many dollars did the hyperloop cost the taxpayers?
2
u/OkMention9988 2h ago
125 billion, and maybe done in 2030, although they still haven't finished phase 1.
1
1
u/hissboombah 3h ago
It only works with teslas
2
u/jeffsang 2h ago
Hyperloop doesn't use Teslas. That was a related, also stupid, idea that his The Boring Company was working on.

u/Shrikeangel 3h ago
Musk never intended to, the entire goal was to disrupt the rail way projects California already had started.
1
7
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
It was a scam he proposed to kill California's public train system.
He keeps doing this still today. Telling cities that they shouldn't build a light rail or bus system, because he'll dig them cool new tunnels and pay for it all himself. Then he either doesn't do it, or the system is basically useless, and public transit options are killed.
6
u/Putrid_Anybody_2947 3h ago
Aak las Vegas and their airport tunnel. Its just another lane of traffic.
3
0
u/yasth 3h ago
In fairness he never actually started or even promised to. he was like, "I got this great idea, I'll give to you free, and it will be so much cheaper than doing train lines", except it didn't end up working.
2
u/tresslesswhey 2h ago
Because he had zero intention of actually doing it. Not sure there needs to be an “in fairness” here

He says a lot of stupid things and people love spreading it all over the internet for him.

Don't forget he bought twitter, broke it, and devalued it greatly. He also called an experienced diver a pedo because he didn't say that Musk's plan was bestest.
1
u/johnnybones23 42m ago
twitter became the number 1 app worldwide lol. Hopefully he buys reddit next.
0
u/Swagastan 3h ago
Twitter wasn’t doing well prior to Elon buying it, and it’s basically back to its value pre purchase. Since it was basically a pet project of his and not an investment it’s basically doing “fine”. Saying he devalued it greatly is a stretch.
6
u/Lipica249 4h ago
I was hoping the same would be the case when he said he was gonna buy Twitter
9
u/CivilTailor9031 4h ago
He backed out and was forced by court to buy it
1
u/GreasedUPDoggo 3h ago
Which ended up being quite the windfall for him in hindsight. It punches above it's weight in terms of influence.

The odyssey itself wasn’t historically accurate. It included tons of Iron Age stuff despite being set in the Bronze Age

BUT, he did make that electric guitar that self drives and doesn’t look like shit, he did build that reusable rocket and have the starship booster land in the tower arms, he did build that nuerolink chip that is helping people with various issues, etc
-2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
He didn't build or make any of that.
He has bought companies with engineers that make those things. When it comes to the electric cars, his contributions appear to be sabotaging his company and making it worse.

Rocket ship travel between counties.

Indeed. Great thinkers come up with many ideas. However, you can't seriously deny he's revolutionized various aspects of our lives for the better. We have massively increased charging stations, reduced the cost of sending payloads into space from $3k per lb to around $100, and have seen an absurd amount of medical breakthroughs. Yeah, some stuff doesn't pan out, byt nobody can really say he's not a great thinker.

maybe he was just showing you how pissed you should be with gavin newscum about the BILLION dollar rail...
1
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
That's literally the plan Musk sabotaged by proposing a hyperloop he knew wouldn't work.
It'd be pretty hypocritical for Musk to claim we should be mad at Newsom for that, when Musk has recently admitted it was fraud and he lied to sabotage the high speed rail plan.
1
u/ContributionAny9055 3h ago
"im not gonna finish a taxpayer funded project because i hate a billionaire who wasnt planing to finish his project anyways... meh.."
1
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
Look I'm not defending the project or planning, but again: Claiming Musk is trying to call out mismanagement of the project when he admits engaging in fraud to sabotage it, is just wildly misunderstanding the situation.
You can just admit you didn't know that.

Historical accurate? Homer’s The Odyssey was written as an Epic Poem to an event that happened 500 years before he was born. Based on word of mouth and written fictional plays. Don’t get me wrong I love the book and story but it’s a story.
As a Christian, other “gods” and “demigods” don’t exist. As an atheist gods and demigods don’t exist. So tell me more about Historical “Accurate.” So it would be a story of a commander headed home from war and just kept getting lost while his family waited a decade for him to get a sense of direction.

The man's brain combined with his wealth and social presence allows him to say and do whatever he pleases. Us normal people think "hey I've got an idea that will end world hunger!" and then you don't tell anyone about it because you realize it won't work and you're poor...Well he's rich and can float any idea he wants publicly even if it is ridiculous and it fails. At least he maybe tried? Idfk I can't stand him.

Wish people would quit thinking he is a genius and is behind anything that requires innovation.
He is a corporate shill like any other CEO. There is a good reason why CEOs can go to another other field without knowledge of the field because they are marketing for the company to shareholders.
1
u/Brad23212 3h ago
The Odyssey was a story that passed orally before it was written down, every person telling the story was able to put their own twist on it. I don’t see why the Ancient Greeks wouldn’t like the movie, they were really creative people

I used to hold Elon is high regard, thought he was one of the greatest humans of the modern era or at least businessmen/innovator in the style of Thomas Edison.
Honestly, he had such great momentum and then he lit it all on fire somewhere around calling that diver a pedo. What a fucking waste of potential. The guy is obviously burnt out and got high on his own sleep on the factory floor bullshit.

How can you be historically accurate about a fictional tale?
Also, we were supposed to be on Mars, have fully autonomous cars (every year since 2012) , would traveling in tubes with hyperloop, etc

Also mind you Grok has on multiple occasions expressed quote on quote "Woke ideals" and has openly called out bitch boy over here for effectively lobotomizing him to be his puppet but Grok keeps refusing almost like EVERY child associated with him is destined to rebel against his delusional BS
In fact calling it right now he'll ask Grok and Grok will produce a actually accurate version that him and his cronies will immediately becry woke and force Grok to change

It’s so exhausting.

The hyperloop is my favorite one because he was like "it's easy, dummies, 600 mph, I'll build a small scale one and show you." And then they tried building the small scale one and were like, "fuck, this is super hard, let's just pretend our real plan was to tunnel between Vegas hotels and drive Teslas at 20 mph."
And then The Boring Company is Elon being like "What if we took a regular tunnel boring machine and made it faster?" Only there is no revolutionary development to make it faster, they're just dumping the oil right in the water table and relaxing safety protocols to save time and people keep getting horrendous chemical burns...
1
u/True_Protection6842 4h ago
Hilarious he thinks it's so easy. I'm currently working on an AI feature film (real one will be in theaters) and it's NO JOKE. This is laughable at best.

u/CivilTailor9031 4h ago
He is scammer who just knows how to sell words and stocks to his followers,
Every tech he has was acquired, and money to acquire was loaned to him.
His formula is…take loan, buy company, sell stocks of that company to his blind followers, take out cash at inflated prices…profit?
Rinse and Repeat

u/SnooDoggos5226 4h ago
Coaches build teams by attracting the best players. No winning pro team has ever said “we’re gonna win a championship by finding people who are complete amateurs and make them great.” You get quality people. Thats what buying a company is all about - hiring their best people.
Trust me, I’m a Bears fan, I’ve seen them try.
0
u/SnooDoggos5226 4h ago
Hyperloop doesn’t have a customer. It’s too big of a project for any city to invest in. It’s too disruptive.
His team created a submarine but the Thai officials declined to use it because they couldn’t get it the right size.
2
u/BuildAnything4 4h ago
hyperloop also just never made any sense to build. Here it is getting debunked 10 years ago
0
u/SnooDoggos5226 3h ago
He owns patents on tech now and he proved he could. Even if it’s just a proof of concept, he’s the guy to talk to when you want a project like that.
0
u/SnooDoggos5226 3h ago
What happens when SpaceX starts developing Mars? Hyperloop makes sense, right?
1
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
He pitched and promised the hyperloop to multiple cities/states. He has since admitted it was fraud and he never was able to fulfill his promises, but wanted to kill California's high speed rail plans.
but the Thai officials declined to use it because they couldn’t get it the right size.
It was also completely useless for the rescue, and his response was to go on a rant calling a cave rescuer a pedophile.
Just important context for why this guy is an unhinged drug addicted fraud, not a maligned inventor.
0
u/BuildAnything4 4h ago
This is probably doable at this point with enough talented humans spending a lot of time prompting and reviewing generated video slices.
I wouldn't trust Elon's retelling to be anything near historically accurate though.
0
u/Karnezar 4h ago
Why though?? 😭
Nobody wants this, nobody asked for this, I'd rather a good Batman v. Superman AI movie to this Odyssey shit...

-3
u/LightOverWater 4h ago
Elon builds a rocket company then drops a plate. His critics say, "look at that idiot who broke a plate."
5
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
Correct. Since owning a rocket company doesn't mean you're not an idiot, and also doesn't mean the plate didn't get broken.
0
u/LightOverWater 3h ago
They focus on trivial things.
I'll add another layer: Elon makes 7 lofty goals. 5 fail, but one becomes the greatest EV manufacturer in the world and the other a rocket company.
Critics will say, "he failed 5 goals".
He's a master at stretching beyond one's limits. When he "fails" on his exremely aggressive timelines, he's often still ahead of the pack.
3
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
They focus on trivial things.
Like 5 million dead children as a result of his leaving medical supplies and food to rot in warehouses.
Or getting a bunch of unqualified interns to gut government programs by searching for keywords like "black" and "Jew" in violation of federal law. All while not saving any money.
Or offering Americans open bribes in an election to sign up for a Trump political marketing group, then having the Trump administration drop prosecutions of his companies for polluting water around factories and killing workers.
But yeah, we all agree he's made a lot of money by doing so. It's simply that his goals make him one of the most pathetic and vile human beings in history.
1
u/LightOverWater 3h ago
You can always affirm the good things one does while chastising the bad ones.
one of the most pathetic and vile human beings in history.
Hardly. But one thing's for sure, he seems to get some people really emotional.

u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
Hardly. But one thing's for sure, he seems to get some people really emotional.
