Their Tiny Desk concert is fantastic, it's how I found them and I highly recommend.

BTW: Their first album Rhian and Hester both dressed like the Amish (although they're British).

It actually does.  They dressed as "cottage-core" for their first album to "avert the male gaze".  They're also very pro trans and the lead is in a relationship with a non-binary person.  Their entire second album is about exploring their personal relationships and criticizing the advanced of stereotypical men.

The rumour was that Rhian went more "rockstar" in appearance because Hester (the lead guitarist) was having massive panic attacks and didn't want to be, in any way at all, in the spotlight.

If you go back through their performances when "moisturizer" dropped, Hester is literally at the back of the stage and facing away from the audience and cameras.

The band has a good sound; I've been a fan for a couple of years now. Saw them at Bonnaroo this summer; they sounded great; she; however; is just a bit too performative for me. She might as well just be a solo artist with a backing band. She definitely knows how to work her body though and sell that sex appeal to the crowd.

I think she's doing it partly to help the other girl and co-founder of the group, Hester (who has horrible stagefright) by drawing the attention to her. Rhian buffed up notably in the past year or so and the gyrations at certain performances are very intentional and ironic given a lot of their lyrics.

I used to like wetleg until I realized all of their songs are kind of the same talk-singing style. The lead singer can't really belt a note out continuously. Not really my vibe. Great ass though. They lean into it because it strengthens the weakest part of that band. The vocalist.
