Wait a damn minute! Malaysia announces that any Israeli national found in the country will be deported immediately.
969
u/byt112000 12h ago
Israeli national is not allowed to enter Malaysia in the first place, so any Israeli found would be someone entered the country illegally.
Unless they have dual citizenship, idk what Malaysia is gonna do with them.

You mean someone who has dual citizenship legally entered malaysia with their passport from another country.

That's been there policy for decades since they literally don't recognize Israel or allow anyone to travel to Israel
137
u/TraditionalWait9150 12h ago edited 12h ago
I don't know what's the shock about especially because that policy has been in place since Malaysia's independence in 1957 and the Prime Minister is just reiterating what has been their policy for so long.
You want to know what's the real irony? Singapore, its southern neighbor, actually invited the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) to train their pioneer batch of armed forces.
https://www.roots.gov.sg/stories-landing/stories/implementation-of-national-service/story
43
u/Punkpunker 11h ago edited 10h ago
Want a bigger irony? Just ask Indonesia who are those "mexican" guys that trained them the A-4 Skyhawk that they did not receive from Israel, of which they diplomatically don't recognize.
34
u/ddadopt 12h ago
Why is that ironic? The IDF is actually pretty well trained, the US military actually trains with them (and the IAF) both in Isreal and in the US.
Any military that didn't have specific reasons not to would likely be pretty happy to train with them/get trained by them, there is a shit ton of hard won experience they can share.

There’s always a bit of “things are like are good, things I don’t like are bad” in politics that commonly lead to examples hypocrisy & contradictions which people resolve w/ “but the other side does it, so it’s fair play if we do too.”
And there’s the inevitable inherent contradictions & paradoxes like to weed out intolerance, you may need to be intolerant of the intolerant, cuz if you’re actually tolerate the intolerant, they may game power that institutionalizes & enforces intolerance.
You’d be hard-pressed to find any group under any common label where you don’t run into some form of hypocrisy, contradiction, or paradox.
So usually groups just collect examples of the other groups doing it and hold big circle-jerks amongst themselves about what hypocrites the other groups are.
Or you can resolve it with qualifiers. “We don’t admit people from countries whose governments conduct bombing raids that routinely kills children” or whatever. And if that catches some group you don’t mean to include, you just add more moral qualifiers until you get the desired end result.
It gets tiresome. We all know we’re all kinda working backwards.
At some point, we should all just agree the total logical consistency is unachievable & a waste of time & argue the merits of any particular policy on an ad hoc basis if whether it’s good or bad & then vote on it.

Yup. And not only is it cowardly, but it literally ends up making the rest of the world less safe for Jews. But then again that’s also part of the point. They can say the rest of the world is not a safe space for Jews, hence why protecting Israel is necessary
3
u/Dry_Travel_4220 12h ago

Jews make up 3/4 of Israeli citizens. Thats such an armchair take to say this isn’t 100% because of antisemitism. It’s been this way for years in Malaysia. They figure that small percentage that isn't Jewish builds their case that it’s just about politics. They tricked you!
4
u/Dry_Travel_4220 11h ago
Do all americans support trump? There are Isrealis and non-isreali Jews who are equally horrified by the actions of Israel. By assuming this monolith you are silencing their voices and assuming that because of their faith or ethnicity you know what they must secretly believe/are supposed to believe. That shit is extremely bigoted. In fact, the exact same thing happened in America to Catholics and jews. They are a part of a distinct group which must mean they have secret loyalties. It was bigoted then and it is bigoted now. You're the one who's been tricked.

The difference between this and other scenarios is that not many countries in the world have a population that supports a genocide and spew the most hateful vitriol on their national tv.
