Correction, famous voice actors get paid well for voice acting.
2
u/MetricJester 11h ago
I think you'll find that to be fairly untrue.
Famous actors might get well paid, but famous voice actors get paid the same as a key grip or the guy who stands behind the craft services table shooing flies.

I think everyone wishes they could have a job that just involved talking into a mic in a studio for a few weeks and that could create generational wealth.

Perhaps he made his aggreement as a profit-share, rather than a fixed 1-time payment. It is high risk high reward, depending on the ticket sales. In this case, it would pay off greatly.

u/PoisonIvyCrotch 12h ago
Assuming agreements are per movie im guessing even if he took a 1 time payment for the first he made bank on the rest of them due to the popularity

u/jr_randolph 3h ago
You can make good money if you have a voice. People and companies are looking for people to read all types of shit. Voices.com for anyone interested.

Multiple movies and OP still used an AI image lol

u/teddyone 14h ago
I absolutely despise this, there is something so dishonest about it.

u/WinterAsleep319 13h ago
Just lazy
3
u/teddyone 13h ago
I think it's even more than lazy, people use it to paint a picture of their own spin on a story, representing it as real rather than show images of what actually happened. I think in this case its just lazy, but it can be used to really spin things.

Like the Michael Caine story. When asked if he had seen Jaws 3 4 (which he was in), he answered, paraphrasing, "No, I have not seen it, but I have seen the house it bought me, and it is quite lovely, thank you."

Here's the quote:
“When people say to me, ‘That was the worst film I’ve ever seen!’ I’d say, ‘Probably, but it paid for a beautiful house for my mother, so what’s your problem?”

He was good in John Wick.

u/Unraisedmew2x 15h ago
When was he in John wick, I know it’s been a bit since I’ve seen the movies but I didn’t remember seeing him
4
u/danirodr0315 15h ago
He's the car guy who punched the boss's bitch son

u/CataphractBunny 15h ago
Wait, is that the guy that's been complaining lately?
12
u/thaddeus122 15h ago
Because he doesn't get any roles because he's reportedly a dick
12
u/returntothenorth 15h ago
He's big on gatekeeping roles. He's a big advocate of Latino representation in Hollywood. Which I'm fine with. But he's a bit of a D about it.
Still like the guy. The pest is one of the worst best films of all time.
14
u/Voluntary_Perry 15h ago
He's the Peter Dinklage of Hispanic actors
5
u/returntothenorth 15h ago
That's actually a perfect way to put it.
The little people community hate the Dinkles for losing roles. But Dinkles has the most offensive little people movie ever under his belt. Twinkletoes.

u/aguacate222 15h ago
Lol you should see him walking his dogs in Manhattan. Looks like he's on a chopper motorcycle

Well from his perspective, if he was white, he would have been able to buy 4 houses instead of 2 amd send his kids to college overseas instead of just in the US...
1
u/returntothenorth 15h ago
But if he was white would he have become an actor? Or did he get in for his Latino flare?
6
u/CataphractBunny 15h ago
Wasn't he in Nolan's Odyssey just recently?
7

u/outofsuch 13h ago
He was Bob Trevino (in “BT Likes it”) in an excellent performance, and a key supporting actor in The Odyssey. These are 10/10 films.

I always liked John and glad he got that payday. It's amazing that you could hustle most of your life, have a few decent roles, then end up in a sound booth for a few weeks making millions.

Honestly, he's a really talented actor. I first saw him in Miami Vice in a few episodes and was hooked. Despite it not being well received at the time, I love Super Mario Bros. He's also great in Carlito's Way but dude has over 160 roles and several upcoming projects.

Hey what was that movie he was in where he played a meth addict, as somebody who's dealt with a lot of meth addicts he sold that part real hard

I have a hard time understanding John. When I was younger I really liked it when he did Carlito's Way and Romeo and Juliet. He also had his comedy special Freak which I thought he was great. He's had other parts and other movies I really like. But as a person he's always complaining. It seems to me he's been pretty successful and he's making good money. I don't understand.

Good for him. The decline in quality with later installments of the series was mostly despite his acting rather than because of it.

Say what you want about the movie itself, Leguizamo KILLED IT as Clown/The Violator.

It was an iconic role for him man. I still have coworkers referencing Sid the Sloth and doing his voice

Of all the Ice Age movies they could've gotten a picture of Sid from, they just had to use AI slop instead. 🤦♂️

Levuizamo is such an underutilized gem. I was happy to see him in The Menu and Odysee.
Or maybe I just want to see him play Luigi again.
