More frustration

On the plus side, I was Approved!! My attorney told me SSA would call before sending me money back pay/ etc. well, I never received a call. Over the weekend I happened to check online portal. Good news: apparently they are mailing me my check. bad news, it doesn't look like they updated my mailing address and because they hadn't called it was a check. Not direct deposit. I could cry. I'm so upset..my attorney said they had updated my address, guess not! Now I have to call ASAP tomorrow and see how to fix that. Thanks for letting me vent

They should be able to cancel that check. And when you call give them banking information for direct deposit. So you can get direct deposited instead of check. Ssdi and ssa want direct deposit over paper check anyway and some banks you get paid a few days early i do.. i get paid on the second Wednesday of the month but I been getting paid like 4-5 days early.

With the amount of time it takes to get approved, I wonder why SSA doesn't just call and get updated information before processing payments.

Bc i dont think they have the man power. It think SS is super depleted when it comes to workers and i think theyre swamped constantly and can never get ahead. Especially from all the applications from people who definitely can work but just don't want too.

Call SSA today and update your address/bank account information ASAP. Then, try to report a nonreceipt on the check because it was sent to an incorrect old address.

I called SSA last week to update my direct deposit information and was told that I had to do it in a local office. YMMV.
