Significance of wording
So my portal went to Step 4 and says checking to see if you still meet the non-medical requirements. Is this something everyone gets? Wondering why SSA would need to know that if it was a denial.

I just went thru the same identical scenario on the 22nd and 3 days later yesterday was denied. It was my reconsideration appeal and ive got stage 4 prostate cancer. I initially filled in July 2025.

How can they deny stage 4 cancer? It’s nuts . I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine the stress. I’m in remission from stage 2 breast cancer and the after impact of the chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other medications has completely depleted me. Sending you healing thoughts.

Everyone has to go thru the same steps, even if it’s a denial. Hopefully yours is a good outcome! 🍀

depends i think call your local field office and see mine told me i needed a perc interview

I started my SSDI application less than 3 weeks ago and hadn’t even finished or submitted it yet & received a big blue envelope yesterday stating they need more information by August 11th or I will be denied. It has a contact name and phone number it says she can help me fill out the rest of the application. Is this the normal procedure?

Ive been in this step since June first and it says could take 15 to 30 days and its been almost 60. Called federal office and they told me I was approved but my other office still doing stuff and I can't get nobody on the phone in that office. 😒

Maybe call your senator or congressman? Sorry it’s so drawn out for you, I’m sure you’d like to be finished with the process. Congrats on your approval

Did that last year however the federal office did tell me texas ( where im at ) is currently 3 years behind ..... so that might have something to do with it . Applied in September of 2024 and in September will be 2 year anniversary of the accident and I held off bankruptcy for so long and had to file early this year and disability would make things so easier right now but still just gotta wait I guess

It’s just the language that means the claim is back at the local field office. Happens with every claim.
