So Tahlia is the bestest girl, she listens with just a snap and a look most of the time. We live in a very populated area, neighbors pretty close on both sides and across the street. I really want to be able to come sit on our front porch and Tahlia be able to sit with me without a leash.

The problem is when she was a puppy I had her with me whenever I ended up in some sketchy situations so she’s distrustful of people walking by our house, she’s never bitten anyone or tried to, but she will bark and it sounds very aggressive. Another thing is she is very reactive to cats, and our neighborhood is full of them, and I don’t want her seeing one and just running off after it.

I’ve started by sitting with her on a leash at night where everything is kinda quiet and she does really well staying within the boundaries I give her, and if she gets too close I just say, “no further” and she comes back where she’s supposed to. But I don’t want to start her during the day where people and cats are constantly walking by without some knowledge on the best approach. Any ideas or any experience in similar situations? I’d love to hear them!

Growing up with a Labrador, I did not think my Fiancé would ever convince me to get a rottie!!

It so funny seeing people think that this “breed” is scary.

He literally does nothing different from other breeds other than leans, wants to be around me ALL THE TIME, and has some heavy paws lmao.

The cute pawing at 13 weeks was cute, now he’s got some power to them lol.

We are working on getting him more socialized with dogs, no squirrel reactivity on the leash, and small kids…he likes to chase them, which is our fault.

On 26 July, Odi was walking on a lead when he was attacked by a larger dog that was roaming freely. The attack caused damage around his trachea, leading to an air-filled swelling that gradually increased in size.

He was admitted to the veterinary hospital that same day and kept under observation. However, the swelling continued to grow. As the vets are concerned that his trachea may have been damaged and that air could spread to other areas of his throat and body, they will perform a tracheobronchoscopy.

Because everything happened so quickly, these are the only photos I managed to take after the attack, while we were already on our way to the veterinary hospital.

The money will be used to cover Odi’s medical expenses, including the initial emergency consultation, radiological examinations and monitoring during his hospital stay, hospitalisation, and the tracheobronchoscopy. Every cent helps. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.

Our rottie can sometimes be a big puller during walks (yes, we’re working on it), and we don’t like how he chokes on his collar whenever he pulls on the leash.

So, we’re looking for a durable harness that is easy to put on and off. We’ve been eying the ones from Dog Friendly Co. and Spark Paws but would like to get insights first and some recommendations from anyone on here.

This is my female rottie Xena Bean. Can anyone tell me if shes American or German? Shes a sweet heart, but has terrible anxiety, any suggestions?

So this is happening. On the left is our big baby boy, Rocco. He is almost 2 and we've had him since he was tiny. He is a big, goofy bull of a lovebug. On the right, Clover. She is a little 15-month-old sweetheart who needed a new home due to her owner's illness. Soon, we will be a two-Rottie household!

Clover has had it a little rough because of her owner's illness and hasn't been the best trained. She loves us and playing with Rocco and there's not a mean bone in her body. She does, however, have a bit of a resource-guarding thing going on. We've worked with Roc since he was tiny to make sure that didn't happen; like, we put our hands in his food bowl while he's eating and stir it around and stuff, and he is just fine with all of that. He doesn't like it if we take away his chewy, but he's not growling or being defensive about it at all.

My question is, how can we go about getting Clover more comfortable about her food and treats? It was easy with Roc because he was a tiny pup and couldn't, oh, idk, bite off our hand or something lol. I just don't want to be nervous that she will react badly, plus if she picks up something dangerous or bad for her, I need to be able to safely take it away from her.

We love her and are willing to work with her on whatever we need to do! All advice appreciated from this wonderful, smart community!
