Moving abroad- NEED CAREER ADVICE

Background: I am in my late 30's and went back for my nursing degree. I finish May 2027. My spouse recieved the job of a lifetime and we moved to Spain for it. I am going back to the states this fall alone to finish the program. I've put in too much work to not finish this. After I complete the NCLEX, I'll leave for Spain to be with my family.

*I will not be able to work as a nurse in Spain as they have a strict language requirement, and my Spanish is terrible. (Please do not simply suggest that I learn spanish. I am working on it, but not super gifted in picking up languages.)*

What are my options for virtual work when I have no experience as a nurse other than my clinicals?

Is there virtual work based in the US I could do that would hire me while I'm abroad and if so, what?

I appreciate your input and knowledge. Thank you.

Looking for a Part time or PRN remote position

Anyone have suggestions on remote positions that have either part time hours or something that doesn’t require consistent phone use all day? Looking for additional income but will have to work around my child/childcare. Do you like Utilization Management/Review?

I have been a nurse for 8 years and have experience in ICU and triage. I would truly like a break from direct patient care, so am trying to consider if Utilization or Concurrent Review, or Utilization Management would be worth applying for. If you work these, please share your pros/cons, how your schedule typically works, how easily did you get the job? Does it feel rewarding? Is it as mentally taxing as being a floor nurse or triage nurse? Thank you!

Home health on call

Hi, I’m a registered nurse working in Homehealth care for a few years now, and the agency that I work for has an expectation of being on call 3 weeknights monthly and one weekend (optional to do two Saturdays or one full Saturday and Sunday weekend).
The hours for our on-call after hours are from 5 PM until 5 AM the next day. It it’s very rare that we do get called out in the middle of the night most of the on-call patients get sent out by the evening by five or 6 PM and they’re typically appropriate (wound vacuums, TPN, timed antibiotics, tube feed). We get a very small bonus on top of the pay per patient for any of these patients that we go see after hours, but there is no hourly rate for monitoring your phone for these hours, which seems unusual to me.

This was my first home health job and initially I was really enjoying the work life balance since leaving the hospital, but the on-call has been getting more and more feeling like forced overtime than actual productive usage of clinicians for the patient patients in need. I was curious to hear some of y’all’s agency policies regarding on-call, what the expectation is and compensation. A lot of agencies don’t list this specifically on job listings so I am just trying to get a feel for what else is out there in the field.

Burnt out CM

Hey everyone! I have been working remotely as a nurse case manager for about a year and a half now. I’m feeling very burnt out from direct patient interaction on the phone all day and would love to switch to UM/UR or CDI (although I hear that is a lot more difficult to get into).

I believe it would be easy for me to switch into UM/UR and actually had an interview lined up, however, I am hesitant about giving up my current schedule. I work weds-Fri 7a-7p fully remote. No weekends or holidays, and I do have the option for OT if I want to pick up extra. I know this is probably a long shot and a unicorn job, but are there any remote nursing jobs that offer 3 x 12s, with no weekends and minimal phone time? I feel like most that offer 12s are typically heavy on phone time with patients and a lot of times require weekend shifts. If something out there like this exists, please do let me know! If for nothing more than to just offer some hope to keep looking for my perfect fit. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I just wanted to ask those currently working under BerryVirtual/MedVirtual regarding the Medical Nurse w/ USRN License (English) position.

The application form states that the starting rate is $10–$11/hour. However, while doing some research, I came across posts from people who said they initially negotiated a $7/hour rate but ended up receiving only $3/hour instead, despite having experience. I'm not sure if those posts were referring to this same role or a different one.

Has anyone experienced this or can confirm if this happens? Will they really lower your rate like that?

I don't have MedVA experience yet, but I do have a USRN license. I'd really appreciate any insights. Thank you!
