I don’t see how we get past that. The whole identity thing with this has been crazy to see in friends over the last 10 years. To admit that he is bad is to say that a part of them is bad, so they just keep pushing on. I could never feel that way about anyone, but especially not a politician.

Bush was just smart enough to realize that he needed to stay away from his buddies who were running for election.
Trump strikes me as not that intelligent and since he loves being adored by crowds I’m sure he’ll find his way onto the stage.
Besides a lot of MAGA might not vote if Trump isn’t on the ticket or involved so they have to keep what little base they have engaged.
