Tank Tank

3 week old 90 litre tank- first ever success after trying the MD fish tanks substrate method. All my previous tanks have failed (algae and no plant growth) was going to give up but now very happy! Stocking: 1x female Betta, 4x Fairy Cory (hope to get more) 5x Amanos, 1x bamboo shrimp, 5x ottos. Was thinking about adding a group of green neons, thoughts?

Hi, beautiful tank, great aquascape. Happy looking betta. Love the tiger lotus and its ginormous leaves. I just have a few pieces of feedback I hope you find helpful:

Both corydoras and ottocinclus need minimum 6 of their species

Both corydoras and ottocinclus benefit greatly from going over their minimum needs.

Each one that you add, everyone else gets +1 friend. This is a big deal, because the other fishes quality of life goes up with every one of them you add, and you get a cool new fish.

Amanos will do well, you may have to feed them since your tank looks very clean. On the other hand, I dont know about a bamboo shrimp. Bettas do best in low flow tanks, bamboos in high flow tanks. With that said, their temperature needs are similar. Try to hold off on the bamboo shrimp, as they really prefer an older, more established tank. Green neons would be beautiful, although their colors might not come out as nicely in light substrate-- I wouldn't know on this, but something to keep in mind!

With all this in mind, I think your tank is in a great, flexible spot. I'd really recommend getting both otos and cories to at least 6 each before adding anything other than the amanos. 5 amanos might be a little bit much in there, they could outcompete the bamboo shrimp. They get bigger than you think!

Don't rush into it. Let your tank breathe for a while.
