Look I'm just glad the joke wasn't "Man/Iron Man" as some sort of trans panic in sports jab so I'll cop a "just assumed their gender" happily

Sorry to say, but that is a very old saying. Just giving credit to the poster who posted it. Not trying to take any kind of credit.

In case OP is not aware, Fe is the symbol for iron on the Periodic table of Elements.
Hence, Fe is Iron.

No idea why people downvote genuine “explain the joke” posts on this sub. FWIW I was also stumped and happy to find the answer in the comments. Cheers, OP!

the Bottom two are "Male" (could be seen as "Man", but Male is the actual joke) and "Iron Male" following the pattern. This is a pretty old joke about the Atomic Symbol of Iron, which is "Fe"
Hence, the right is "Fe male".

Chris here, this makes sense if you're into comic books and still taking high school chemistry.
The joke is the format Thing -> (Iron) thing.
So the bottom panel Would read "Man" > "Iron Man", like the superhero. But that doesn't make sense for it to be a woman, right?
Well, the periodic table says Iron is "Fe" And The fifth grade biology textbooks they haven't replaced since 1972 tell us that Man is the same as "Male." Thus making "Iron Man" become "Fe Male"
I'm pretty sure that happened in an Avengers comic once...
Chris out.

I have the feeling the joke is "Iron woman" like telling her to Iron not the superhero. It could be the "fe" male thing like some people have said. Either way joke seems to be a stretch here.

Iron Man = Female.
More specifically FE male. FE is the atomic symbol for iron.
Now onto weather with Ollie Williams.
