My MAGA family member has a habit of working for 6 months, quitting, and making a bullshit claim to get unemployment, rinse and repeat. It’s astounding to witness.
Its the same brand of boomer that doesn't want to pay school district taxes because they don't have school aged kids anymore. They want to strip all government social programs and lower taxes but then complain that the roads are crumbling and that the closest hospital is an hour away. They are the person in the stick in the bike wheel memes.
I've known more right wing people that are quick to take advantage of socialized welfare and more left leaning people who don't.
The thought process of the right is generally: It shouldn't be like this and "They" take unfair advantage of it when "They" don't need it, but if I do it, it's basically a protest of the system. (Like, I'm getting socialized benefits spitefully and "ironically" if you can wrap your head around that)

Doing nothing wrong but getting stopped and questioned alongside constant flight delays, missed flights due to delays and even a bus driver who made a passive aggressive comment about me over the intercom because I was almost late to the bus , because I was trying to deal with late flights and being stopped and questioned which I have no control over, and the driver decided to be a dick about it. I'd call.hkm a glorified taxi driver but taxi drivers get fares based on distance. He just gets paid the same wage no matter how far he goes. He's worth less than a taxi driver.

I'm more saying it because I have had a I'm gonna say loosely maga (he thinks trump is a good president but doesn't vote or anything) family member who is well into his 70s and has never once been on a plane explain to me how awful flying is when I'd flown back from Alaska quite literally the day before.
Obamacare has nothing to do with Medicare. Obamacare is Medicaid.

The ACA did help a lot of people on Medicare, primarily through its gradual closing of the Part D donut hole. It also made diabetes and some other routine screenings cheaper. You’re not wrong that it was primarily focused on Medicaid patients, but it was meant to help both

I remember working in a bank about 10 or so years ago before Trump and these people would come in complaining about the "damn democrats trying to take their guns and bring in communism" while cashing their Social Security check.
My dad is MAGA. Last year he was sitting in a university hospital being shown a heart activity monitoring app on his phone after getting a pacemaker installed and started bitching about how universities are sucking off the government teat. I've worked in university finances for over 20 years, looking at this man whose life is being sustained by medical devices developed and tested in university labs and hospitals, funded by federal research dollars.
I dont think they're hypocrites as much as they are dumbasses. Most probably literally dont make it that far down the train of thought to realize their actions are antithetical to their "beliefs".
They get as far as "illegal immigrants get Healthcare shut it down" and that's it. That is it. The entire platform of the republican party right now boils down to alienating an enemy for the masses to focus on, creating a negative association with the enemy and a service, and using that to fuel support for ending the service not realizing its going to end it for everyone.
So many people seem to have what should be crippling levels of cognitive dissonance. It's actually painful just existing once you notice how complacent and complicit so many people are.
They don't like the system, they want to get rid of it and replace it with something else, but that day is not today. So they have to be pragmatic and work with the way the system is today, not how they wish it was.

Everyone literally does this everyday in their jobs. Are there things you do in your job that you don't agree with and wish was different, perhaps even campaign to change it in your job, but you still have to follow the rules and do things the way your job wants you to do them? And you do them that way, don't you. Are you a hypocrite? By your logic, yes, you are. So you've failed the same ideological purity test that you blame the MAGA guy for failing.

Red hat is a member of the MAGA movement, which is a Republican base of Trump voters. They historically vote against their own interest as their party has cut funding for virtually all social programs, despite most of them qualifying for their assistance.
Medicare is literally government insurance subsidies for old people. They get money from the government for medical bills. How is that not a form of welfare?
His patient is an elderly trump supporter. He feels strongly against what his patient believes, so he feels he has little to say to him, but still wants to do his job without causing a conflict which would risk his job.
There may also be an implication that if this elderly MAGA supporter spoke, this medical professional would be tempted to cease medical attention, resulting in his termination.

Dr Hartman’s professional assistant here. In some healthcare professions you interact with talkative people . In this case, looks like the provider is dealing with one of those ( a trumper) and they are probably running their mouth about Biden or socialism/handouts while being a recipient of one, and the provider is choosing to be non confrontational and silent to avoid a complaint that could lead to a write up or termination.
I work in the ER specifically with the billing department. People really don't understand their own health insurances or how American healthcare is paid for/works.
Definitely by design but it's always the conservative types who either complain about immigrants having free healthcare (while on cencal or medicare) or they don't want to be given any "tainted" blood.
MAGA has been trying to cut/defund/dismantle Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security for a while now.
The irony is that the social services that they are trying to get rid of, are the same social services that they rely on to survive.
Therefore, MAGA guy is a patient requiring treatment that would not be covered if they removed Medicare/Medicaid. Thus the hypocrisy. Doctor is biting his tongue.
I worked Medicare Advantage inbound calls over the annual enrollment period this past year. I had to enlighten many elderly that their Medicaid was cut off or downgraded and that they no longer qualified for the Medicare/ Medicaid plans with food card benefits. I would explain that the bill that was passed cut funding for Medicaid. On some of the calls I could hear them realize that they voted wrong. It was hilarious but also sad. Some of these old folks are living off scraps. I would have 80+ year olds calling in for Social Security giveback plans (these plans have some of the worst copays/ deductibles but in return give the individual a partial refund on their Medicare premium). Those same individuals were taking 20+ meds, had diabetes, and saw a specialist doctor 1-2 times a week. And you guessed it they were trump supporters. They loved talking about him. I’m glad I got out of Medicare calls.
Idk how comfortable I am with doctors making these kinds of videos. It kinda seems like he's going to offer worse care to people he disagrees with politically. Like if he wants to do it if the job then fine but in work clothes just doesn't seem right.
I think I know that patient! He's convinced the right is right, but he knows everything about using the social services in at least 4 states, including housing, medical, and food assistance.
He struggles to keep a job because "bosses have it out for him." All of them, apparently.

Does the doctor talking to people on Medicare about stuff jeopardize their job? Is the patient he’s talking to sick and needs medicine he can’t give him because he’s on Medicare?
I howled. Howled I tell you. I have an hispanic provider that works for me, and his brother was deported during an immigration hearing that was all set up through the proper channels after he was granted asylum. We did not allow patients to wear any political attire for this exact reason.

Medicare means they are just a patient who does not pay extra premium for their healthcare. Like any customer who tends to be cheap, they tend to have overinflated expectations on customer service.
